Well, there were four activities I wanted to participate in. All sounded like so much fun. So I’m going to do them all. There is Treat Yourself Thursday (Family Trees May Contain Nuts blog) , Vintage Thingies Thursday (Colorado Lady blog), Thrifty Thursday (Tales From Bloggeritaville blog) , and Dogs On Thursday!
For Treat Yourself Thursday, of Family Trees May Contain Nuts, I’ve decided how I’m going to treat myself. (As though I don’t do it often enough!) I think I’m going to laze around the house all day. Maybe get some crafting in.
This is my garden room where I do my crafting.
Today I went to Hobby Lobby. And bought myself some new adhesive ribbon. I had fun embellishing some plain file folders a few weeks ago with this. I think maybe I might make myself some more and use my new ribbon and stickers.
Here’s some of the ones I’ve already made.
For Vintage Thingies Thursday…
I wanted to show you a little stool I picked up at the local antique mall a few months ago. Isn’t it cute with its blue tassels and blue and white mosaic top? Fits perfectly in my new blue garden room. I’ve got to learn to make mosaics. I’ve even got shards of broken dishes I’ve been saving for just such an endeavor in a plastic baggy!
I know you can’t see this too well because it’s in the corner of my garden room, but I wanted to show you my vintage watering can water fountain I found at another antique mall in Mineola, Texas. I just love this! I have it on all day when I’m in the garden room.
And lastly for this event, I want to show you my old wooden box beside my computer desk where I keep books that I want easy access to. I love old wooden boxes. Boy, I love a lot of vintage thingies!
For Thrifty Thursday, I wanted to show you something else I picked up at Hobby Lobby today. I thought this was a pretty thrifty buy! It is a gardening tool box I can carry around the yard with my gardening tools in it. It was marked down from $20 to $10, so I just couldn’t pass it up.
This was my thrifty way of decorating one of my lamp shades. I cut a vintage hanky into four pieces, hot glued it to the top, and added buttons from my button stash.
And so now we have Dogs On Thursday. You guys know how much I love my pets. And my two Yorkies, Abigail and Charlie Ross, the dogs in the family.
So this is about them. Here they’re “dog tired” underneath my computer where I’m typing.
But they’re usually not this quiet. They’re usually lovable little hooligans! Chasing each other all over the house. Hiding from one another, yapping and causing trouble. Here’s Charlie Ross.
He’s the meeker of the two dogs, though he is bigger. He is my handsome little man. When he wants to, however, he will tell Abi how the cow ate the cabbage!
And here’s Abi.
She’s a mama’s girl for sure. And she thinks she polices the place. Whenever she hears me raising my voice, like telling the cats to get off the cabinets, she will come running into the kitchen barking maniacally. As though this is her cue!
They keep me mighty busy. Along with two cats, a saltwater aquarium, and two fish in the garden pond. But, oh, how I love them!
Please go over and visit these blogs and see what all the various participants have come up with. I have a lot of reading to do!

I also love old wooden boxes. That corner looks great – the books in the box on the trunk – I dream of thrifting an old trunk like that one day…!
You are a busy little one aren’t you. Also very creative. We were at a BBQ on Saturday with 6 little ones running around, the host’s mini Yorkie, 2 mini Chihuahuas, a mini Pincher and 3 more mini Yorkies. My gosh they were like moths fluttering around the patio. One barked they all barked. I was exhausted when we left. Lol I don’t know how you guys do it.
Thanks so much for dropping by my Treat Yourself Thursday. We all deserve one.

Thanks for stopping by Rose Cottage Gardens and Farm, Brenda!
What a great post and I love your blog header!! I especially like the button detail on the lamp and that neat watering can fountain!! Have a nice day~
I enjoy being able to view the variety on your blog on Thursdays! What a fun idea to “pimp” your folders! Being a fellow gardener, I love your fountain and new tote box! My husband would love your box of books – he has a similar variety in his bathroom for “light reading”! Great idea on the lampshade, too!
See you next week!
love that watering can thingy…..i may have to borrow that idea
Your quilts are amazing- do you sew or were they purchased? i’m looking for a black and white one for my hallway…..
I would commit a crime for that pail and garden box. Wow, you have so many nice things. I am not a a crafty person at all, and I love what you have done with simple file folders. You posted some pictures of your doggies! I didn’t know there was a Dogs On Thursday. It’s getting hard to keep up with all the memes. Abigail and Charlie are the sweetest Yorkies, Abigail and Charlie Ross! Are they brother and sister? Wouldn’t I love to have a salt water aquarium. At some point we are going to put in a shallow pond. I want a few turtles and a place for the lizard and Ibises to drink.
Cheers,
Sista’ Sue
I enjoyed all your posts.Your puppies are the sweetest, adorable little ones..and p.s. those quilts in your garden room are just beautiful.
My head is spinning with ideas- the folders, the lampshade….and I love the fountain. The sound of water is so soothing. Hope you are having a great day my friend! Thanks for inviting me to the vintage party

Clara & Marcela
The lamp is my favorite, I must remember that I have lots of old hankies & buttons!
your new adhesive ribbons are so nice…aren’t they tremendously handy?! your file folders are darling.

Brenda,
You made me smile! My husband was pushing me in a wheelbarrow after we had been shoveling dirt all day and hauling into our back yard! He was about to dump me out and kept threatening to do so when the picture was taken!:-)
Protective…? LOL
You have been a very busy gal today ~ 4 memes! I love it all and I’ve gleaned a great little idea in your lamp shade embellishment! It all looks so nice and cozy (doggies too) and your intention to do a few projects is admirable. I have spent the day driving and I am so sleepy. Time for a couple of zzz’s before dinner…. No projects for me and just taking a nap is going to be my treat!
Hugs, Sue
AS always…LOVE IT!!!!!
Sandra
Lovely pieces! And glad you treated yourself as well.
I’ve tried really hard to stay away from craft stores because I don’t want to know what cool fun things are out there
But you’ve just let the cat (or dog) out of the bag — Adhesive ribbon? Really? OMGoodness! And look at those completely adorable, fabulous file folders! You have the office supply lover in me going bananas!
I’m so glad you joined Thrifty Thursdays this week, just so I could see this. Thank you!!
Kristin
Love the dogs! And I so envy you the Hobby Lobby!!! We don’t have it here and I’ve seen their stuff before!!! Lucky you!
Hugs,Lisa
Thanks for visiting my blog! It looks like you were busy getting this post together! So many events, I guess it is hard to pick just one. Love that you chose to participate in all of them. I particularly like your little lamp with the hankies. So creative!
Love your craft room. The folders look like lots of fun. I’m sure the adhesive ribbon will be fun to play with.
What a beautiful button lampshade too.
You have so much going on. Where to begin. Well, I too love having two fluffy ones. You’ve probably seen them on my blog. It’s amazing how these creatures become a part of your life. Unfortunately we don’t have any Hobby Lobbys by us. I’ve seen the store mentioned in several blogs. I’d love to play around with adhesive ribbon. You did an awsome job with it. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for it.
Evening, Brenda! Oh what a great post today – so many wonderful things going on! Now, I may be partial, but I’m loving seeing those little sweet fuzzy faces of yours! They are adorable!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia
I would really like to learn to make a fountain like that. Surely hubster and I could figure it out.
So in love with your garden.
Girl, it took me ALL day just to join in one event! Love the yorkies, I have dachsies. Lampshade is my favorite but I love the box. I think I’m the only person in the world that doesn’t want to listen to running water. Oh, I think I have the same tablecloth as in your header. Lovely
ADORABLE faces! I am HOPING to get a little Yorkie soon!!!
Brenda,
Love your garden room — the quilts are just so pretty!
Thank you for visiting and leaving the kind comment.
