It’s Metamorphosis Monday with Susan at Between Naps On The Porch.
Today I took everything out of my garden room book shelves and reorganized.
Here is a before look:
And here are the after looks:
Oh, this small set of wooden drawers is something I picked up in Jenks, Oklahoma a few years back. It had ships on the front. I decoupaged it.
The photos are of my two grandchildren, taken not long ago.
Unfortunately, I ended up breaking about three pieces of my blue and white pottery as I did this reorganization. Went into bags for my “someday” mosaic piece…
I love decorating and gardening books.
I tried to break up the monotony of the vertical books by laying some horizontally to move the eye.
I also obviously love blue and white pottery. Which I now have three less pieces of…
I know it’s dark in here. There aren’t any windows but in the ceiling, and it’s night time.
Thank goodness I managed not to break this when I was dusting and putting things back. I think of marbles when I look at it. I bought it from a consignment shop.
Now go on over to see what other projects have been accomplished by my fellow bloggers at Between Naps On The Porch. (And hopefully theirs is all in one piece…)

It looks so cozy and homey. Love it!
~Michelle
Love your room! The shelves around the top are just the best!
Hugs, Lisa
Your room looks so welcoming and what a great way to reorganize your cabinet. Sorry to hear about the 3 broken pieces and I too love that piece that looks like a marble.
Thanks for sharing!
Crystal
this looks like a cozy place to read! I really like all your accessories, especially the white bird house and the seed boxes
Hi Brenda! Oh, you did a fantastic job of rearranging your bookshelf. I love how you placed books against the back of your cabinet and then put something in front of it! What a lovely corner to sit in! Love the pictures of those little fuzzy faces poked in there!
be a sweetie,
Shelia
Hello !
I love your makeover ! I really need to take the time to do this for my bookshelves…its on the list, lol !
Hugs ~ Kammy
Yay, It let me in to comment!
Brenda…this totally makes me want to go redo all my shelves! It is amazing how much more open it feels! Great makeover! I love how dark and cozy it looks in the pic…perfect for a taking down a book for a good read! Susan
It’s nice to rearrange shelves — and you get to clean them at the same time! (cleaning of shelves only done at Linderhof when I rearrange — well — almost only).
Like what you did!
Arranging bookcases is hard and you did a great job. Love them mixed with other accessories. They are much more interesting to look at. So sorry you broke some of your blue and white, I would be really sad. Hugs, Marty
Hi Brenda, It makes such a difference to play w/the bookshelves and turn them into little vignettes. I change mine out occasionally, because I’m always finding new ‘found objects.’ Yours look really nice and I love the look of your room. It’s as cozy as the rest of your house! hugs, Sue
I love the new look, and adore the decoupage work. I’d like to try something like that myself…, but then I just don’t seem to be able to get away from the computer.
Please come do my shelves!! I don’t know what it is about my books but I can not get my shelves to turn out this way! You did a great job! I would love to come over and borrow some of your books!!

I love what you’ve done with your shelves! Great job! And I love the color of your walls and all of your fun accessories. Thanks for sharing…
XO,
Sheila
Your bookshelves look great! I’m afraid to touch my bookshelves. It’s like Pandora’s Box. I think I’ll just pay my kids to organize them!

What a lovely cozy corner, it just invites you to sit down and read.
very homey! would love to curl up with a book on that armchair
In photo 2 there are some what look to be hanging chains with pretty amber glass at the ends, but they’re not showing in photo 1. I guess you could say that I looked closely at your photos…..and I enjoyed them all.
Great makeover Brenda!! Beautiful photos, too!
Don’t you just love reorganizing, it feels so good I just like to stand in the space for a little whild and enjoy it. . .I love how neat everything looks!
It looks great! The best thing about being a mosaic artist, is I never really worry when something breaks! I would love to see your mosaic project when you do it!
Hugs,
Penny
I love how each vignette is special and unique and yet everything together looks like a large piece of art! Your decorating abilities are awe-inpiring! You’ve creating a warm and cozy space! I love your blog!!
Laura
The book shelves are much more interesting to look at now..not that they weren’t fabulous before. I could sooooo see myself sitting in that chair, reading away.
♥, Susan
Love the after. Sorry to hear about the broken pieces. At least you can use them for a mosaic someday. And I would look at this as the opportunity to purchase more blue & white pieces. Sounds like a win/win to me.
Great update, sometimes all it takes is a little reorganization to make things look fresh and new.
The shelves look great. Sorry to hear about the dishes you lost
I find it so relaxing to move things around like that. It’s something I love to do when I am having one those out of control sort of days.
I’ve been procrastinating doing the same thing with the bookshelves in my office. It seems like such a big project that I keep putting it off. Your photos have been an inspiration. Next rainy day, I know what I’ll be doing!
I think book shelves are hard but you really did a nice job on the reorganization and rearranging. Now, would you like to come help me?
Hi Brenda,
And thanks for visiting my blog. And yes a little black paint can go along way and make something old look brand new!
I love your room/shelves, they look great!!!
Jamie
Thanks for coming by. Your shelves are so inviting now. Sorry to hear about your pottery breaking. Hope you can make something else beautiful out of them!
Dawn
How sad to break some blue & white, but I’m sure that promised mosaic will be amazing. The little changes you made really brighten up the shelves. Excellent.
I love the colors of the books with the colors of the room. The reds especially POP!
I think it’s cool that great minds think alike. (or demented minds, right?) Your rearranging looks great! I didn’t break anything luckily. Books just look better when some are on their sides. I look better on my side too come to think of it.
Having just rearranged some bookshelves, I can appreciate your hard work. It is not an easy task, and you did such an attractive and beautiful job! Linda
I love how you have intermixed so many special little treasures between your books.
looks great and what a fabulous library you have accumulated!
xo
I really like how you’ve arranged the books both horizontally and vertically. The coloured book covers make them look almost like pieces of art.
You’ve put together a nice combination of accessories with the books. Sorry to hear you broke a few pieces in the process, though.
The marble-looking vase is really cool!!
Thanks for your kind comments about my sunburst mirror project. It was fun to do, and worth the effort, I think
