Puttering Inside

IMG_6640

It is so hot here in Texas that it is 100 degrees in the shade by noon. It’s when women like me start puttering around the house. Moving things around. Changing the landscape with a different quilt or pillow.

I sewed these pillow slips years ago. You can take them off the standard sized pillows to wash. Abi seems to like them just fine.

This afternoon brought a package to my door. An order from JC Penneys. These white plate chargers were in one of those boxes. I thought they were so pretty I couldn’t hide them in the cupboard. So I set one under this basket.

And put one on the kitchen table under my bird filled with goodies.

In the kitchen I got out some vintage cookie cutters and measuring spoons, and displayed them in a bowl.

I bought these pretty green-toned bottles at Ross yesterday for $1.99 each. Had to put them on display.

I added another pillow I sewed years ago to my chair in the garden room.

And put out these sweet little mugs I bought recently. Aren’t they cute?

I even changed table cloths in my kitchen and switched it on my blog banner.

Yeah, it’s too hot to go outside. And it is only June. Guess I’ll be puttering around the house for months.

  1. LOL Brenda:) I was outside a little earlier excited to plant some pretties I had bought today but it’s too hot here. I came back inside and i’m hoping it’ll cool down some in little while so I can plant them. What part of Texas are you from? I’m in the West Texas area. :)

    Blessings,
    Sandra

  2. Well, I will definitely be in for a few months, it was $108 today, and it was not a dry heat. I have been doing like you, changing things around. I do agree, if you can’t be outside, then it’s time to change the inside a little. I have the same chargers and I just love them, they are so pretty. Your other vignetts are just gorgeous, such fun. Hugs, Marty

  3. hi brenda!

I do like the way you are using them for decor’. Great ideas.
Abi does look very cute and comfy.

    Have a wonderful Sunday.

  5. It’s HOT here in Alabama too! I’ve been sitting at this computer all day in the A/C!
The heat really drains the motivation from me.
I love your new white plates! They look like that Homer Laughlin plates I found at a thrift store recently. Love the way you displayed your vintage kitchen items too! I should get mine out so I can see them! Your house always looks so cozy!

  6. Hi Brenda–I am not usually hot natured, but I think I am melting in this heat! I tried to work outside a little today, but the heat just drove me back inside!
I love the white chargers! I don’t blame you–I would keep them out too!
Love the cozy puttering you did today!
    Linda

  7. Your puttering must have been a lot of fun. The new vignettes are wonderful. Your home decor is soo charming!

  8. Super new arrangements! I like moving my stuff around it makes me feel good to use all my stuff! Love your house as always. It is too hot here also!
    Hugs, Lisa

  9. fun tweaks!!! and you know I love those bottles.

  10. It was 100 degrees here in southern California before noon. I went window shopping all day in Old Town Temecula. But I still had to go outside everytime between stores. So I’m hot & tired now. Love your puttering. And I love the chargers. I just got some white chargers from Amazon. I might just have to use mine for display as well. Hope you don’t mind if I borrow your idea. I might go take a dip in the pool after dinner.

  11. Your blog is always so refreshing! Your photos look wonderful — the colors just pop right off the page. And your puttering is inspired and inspiring! Thanks for sharing! (And I’m just outside of Houston, and, yup, it is HOT! Makes me want to putter INSIDE the house, too!)

  12. Hard to imagine 100 degrees for me here in the North East. You are a very creative woman, I must say…, and just a side note, please don’t feel rushed or anything, but would you update my link from A Beach House Dream to my new location A Beach Lovers Place. Thank you so much. Have a great weekend!

  13. Love the results of your puttering, Brenda! Beautiful chargers! Love little Abbie on the sofa. YOure little doggies are so cute! Man, it’s hot here too, plus the humidity! Whew! I’d better go turn down the A/C! :)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  14. Yay for puttering! Tee hee. Ok I love those chargers they are sooo chic! I like all your little changes :)

    All the best,
    Allison

  15. Yes, I like those black and white mugs a lot. Just the right size, not too big or too thick. In Zone 4, we do our puttering in the winter while you do yours in the summer. Works out to be about even. Happy puttering.

  16. With temperatures like that I don’t blame you the putter. And the results are so pretty.

I love your walls. I find it curious how far up your wall you go with display but it is vastly satisfying. Do you have a low ceiling?

  17. Gorgeous room and love those cups.
    I ♥ this!

  18. We usually don’t get temps like this till August; I shudder to think what August will bring.

Love the layering you did with the pretty white plates, they make everything pop! And that wavy green glass… wouldn’t you just love to have a sheet of that to put in a cabinet door? I certainly would.

  19. Hallelujah! We got a cool front yesterday and the high today is 90!! We needed that desperately. The grass is already turning brown inspite of my efforts.

Your puttering is a great idea. I love your white plates and those cute little mugs!

  20. Subtle, but beautiful changes…. Brenda, it all looks so comfy and charming. Makes me want to come over for a visit, drink some sweet iced tea, and chill out from all the heat and humidity. Baby, it’s hot outside. I’m puttering today, too.
    Hugs, Sue

  21. Brenda, when you putter, the prettiest things happen!
    ♥, Susan

  22. Brenda, I also love to putter or “putz” as I say. I tend to putz when we have cold or rainy weather, which is the case a lot of the time here in West. PA. We don’t get the heat like you do. I have that same exact tablecloth and sometimes put it out on the bistro table outside, and now I’m kinda sorry I did because yours looks so much brighter. Love your home and stuff. Thanks for showing the results of your puttering.

  23. It is also 100 here down at the beach house and we are melting in the shade:) No beach today as it is way to hot so to cool off we went to open houses. Yes, we are insane:) I love your new white chargers. I don’t even own one charger..shame on me:) I am catching up with my blogs today and am having fun sitting here admiring your table cloth and all your pillows. Wish I could sew but not my thing. I only play with Flour:) Stay cool and have fun puttering around but sit and have an ice tea!
    Joyce

  24. Everything you do is so charming! I have those same white chargers, but only use them on the dinner table. What a great idea to use them for decor. You have provided me with a lot of inspiration in this post. laurie

  25. I really want an iPhone but the plans are ridiculously expensive and I don’t feel confident buying one and trying to jailbreak it. What other great phones are out there?
