It’s Tablescape Thursday with Susan from Between Naps On The Porch.
Today I’m using some plates I purchased at Pier 1, because I love polka dots!
And I love all things garden-inspired. Like Adirondack chairs and cabbage-themed miniature teapots with ladybugs on top.
Don’t these polka dots remind you of M & M’s?
Or cheerful colored flowers…
How about an apple on a hot summer day?
You don’t mind that I added some of the flowers from my garden, do you?
You may recognize this table in the background from Fridays Cloche Party with A Stroll Thru Life. Wow, that was so much fun!
And music from the old days…
When summers meant kids slammed screen doors as they ran in and out. And mothers gathered together on someone’s front porch, iced tea in hand, sweat dripping off the glasses into their laps… Kids screaming that the ice cream truck was coming. Mothers reaching into their purses for change…
My daughters are grown now. But I sure still remember those hot summer days. Trying to stay in the shade.
Please go over and visit Susan
and catch up with the other participants of today’s Tablescape Thursday.

Wow back to back commenting. I just love what you have done here. Talk about a flashback. Screen doors and the ice cream truck. This is a beautiful table setting and a wonderful tribute to summers past. I feel like I could reach through my screen and take a big bite out of that apple. Thanks Brenda.
Oh My GOsh, This is such a beautiful table setting. I love the tablecloth. I collect old table cloths and this one is breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing it. Love the whole cozy pic. Would like to sit down for brunch. Especially love your bird, is it a Jim Shore? I have collected some of the angels and even a lamp of his, and it has the same border look around the bottom. Summer is upon us. Please stop by Country Wings in Phoenix and say hello. “Country Hugs”, Sherry
This is such a HAPPY setting complete with wonderful memories! I just heard the ice creanm truck at my daughters home last week… The sreen door added aperfect ode to summers past.
I adore your polk a dot plates and the darling chair holder… You are one talented and amazing friend!

RYC: I don’t know about people flocking to me but they seem to keep on coming back lol!

Your table is just so whimsical and cheery, Brenda! I love the mini teapots, the colorful polka dotted plates, everything…. How funny that you should mention the slamming screen door- I am ordering a new “old-looking” screen for my own back door- as I,too, remember the slamming screens where I grew up. hugs, Sue
Love the polka dots and the things from your garden really bring this table to life. Very nice!
Christi
I love the polka dots and everything else about your beautiful table Brenda!!
Those polka dots are a hit – so cheerful! You did a fantastic job on the whole thing! Linda
So cute! I saw those plates at Pier 1 I loved them! They have great stuff.
All the best!
Allison
Oh my goodness, you are taking me back in time to MY childhood! “MOM! HURRY! The ice cream truck is coming!” I can remember running in the house to tell her at least once a week. Course, that didn’t mean I got ice cream once a week. We never had an ice cream truck when my boys were growing up. Very, very rarely.
Loved your table. I sure wish we had a Pier One close by. I hear tales that they are turning what used to be one, back into one. We’ll see!
Beautiful post. This is just too fun!
What a fun table! Very whimsical..great cloche too!
Very fun table! I saw those same plates and loved them! Cute post…
XO,
Sheila
Oh Brenda!!! I so love your colors, must be your ‘quilter’s eye’ that can see and arrange like this! Pure talent:)
Love the plates. You could paint an “M” on the dots & then they would be M&M’s. I love the little teapot. Too cute! And now you’ve done it, I want an ice cream from the ice cream man. Try & stay cool now. I hope the heat doesn’t kill your beautiful flowers.
Love your little cozy house!!I’ll gladly “follow” the polka dots are my favorite…Can not have enough of them. and the blue birds, (I looked farther into your blog). How precious are they, great photos, sure enjoyed my visit…xoxo~Kathy@ Sweet Up-North Mornings… Stop over and see the “Poppins Scape” …
Hi there…thanks for commenting on my post! ANd hello to a fellow Texas blogger. I have a cousin that lives in Tyler that I just reconnected with after many years. I LOVE your header pic and think I actually have that same red/blue tablecloth. I’m going to have to get it out and compare the two. It was my Grandmother’s from Waco.
I love your polk-a-dot dishes very much. I love your memories of the screen door slamming and the ice cream man…what a breath of fresh air
I love your Jim Shore Bird….my sister bought me a beautiful Jim Shore angel lamp.
I would love setting down at your table.
hugs
debbie
You enjoy those polka dots plates that your sweetie bought you…but don’t be surprised if I rethink my decision and go back to the store!!
Have a great weekend.
That is a beautiful table setting that you did. I love the polka dot plates, and they do remind me of M & M’s. I own a candy store, so candy is always in my mind’s eye! I really like your cloche with the fruit under it, so cute!
Very nice!
Oh Brenda!
I knew that had to be Jim Shore. I have never seen a little bird like that. I am going to have to start looking. I love the birds.
Thanks for the post at Country Wings in Phoenix, “Country Hugs”, Sherry

thank you so much for leaving me one of the sweetest comments i have ever received. it made my day!
xo
Thanks for your visit to hill country house! Yep – judging from your colorful polka dotted plates, you need to make a Target run!! Love your plates and beautiful flower photographs.
You’re right, those plates do remind me of M&Ms! In my book, anything that resembles chocolate must be great, and your table certainly is!
This is just such a fun tablescape. I think if you sat at a table with polka dot plates, you’d just have to have fun! The fruit filled cloche looks great, and the cute little adirondack chair and cabbage leaf pitcher and precious, but those polka dot plates just sing to me! laurie
What a sweet summer trip down Memory Lane .. I soooo MISS those days!! Thanks so much for visiting me! And your table is LOVELY!
~kim
Love the polka dots! Love it all!
Katherine
What a beautiful table. I LOVE polka dots!
(BTW, the red shoes in the Ruby Tuesday button are the red shoes that the wicked witch had on when the house fell on her in the Wizard of Oz, that’s what the shoes are under!!)
Every little detail was just perfect, including the green of the apple being a perfect match to the green polka dots on the plate. Visits to your blog make me feel so welcome. Have I said that before?
I just love your cottage look!!!! Those sweet little miniature teapots are to die for! UBER cuteness!
~Liz
