Book Review: Tainted

tainted

The book, Tainted, by Brooke Morgan, is about the girl who never gets the guy. But when she meets a handsome man with an exotic foreign accent on the bus, she finds herself saying witty things she didn’t think herself capable off. Beyond all expectations, he seems interested in her. And soon, totally smitten with her. At first there seems to be a slight problem when he finds out she has a child. But once he meets the little girl, he falls for her as well.

But life never has story-book endings, and this author doesn’t try and deliver something we can’t in reality actually swallow. I admire her for that.

Just who is this mysterious man? Why does he seem to have no family, no friends? And appear as if by magic with no strings attached?

I’m not going to tell you the storyline here, as I fear I would ruin the entire book for you. I have to say this one was a bit slow to get into. But then again, this is the author’s first novel. I will give her this, she kept surprising me. And when she did manage to suck me in, it was for good. And then I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

What’s more, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that I didn’t have some inkling what was going to happen at the end. Or on the last page. Or at the very least in the last paragraph! But this one had me going up until the very last sentence. And that is what I will remember most about this author and her first novel. That she completely knocked my socks off in the very last sentence. So shocked was I at this state of affairs, and at the way the book ends, I can hardly wait for her next psychological thriller, entitled Trapped.

But don’t cheat and read the last page before you read this fine story. I want you to have the same reaction I did. This one will have you in awe.

Oh I love those type of books. I have been telling myself that I am going to turn off the tv and read more. I think I will start with this book. By the way your friend Zazu sent me to your blog. Your little dogs are adorable. I have 6 dogs, so she knew I would like your blog. Love your quilts. I can't sew, but I do collect quilts, and at last count had over 50! Love your blog and will visit often:)

When I do get back to reading, I'll have to remember this one - I usually read typical "romance" novels, but you've got me intrigued with this one!!

I'll have to go check it out - and thanks for not giving away too much of the book - I'll have to remember to not read the reviews or back of the book!

Hope you're well friend -
