Over the weekend I resurrected this old shelf. First I painted it white. Then I decoupaged the back of it to give it a little more character.
In my opinion, if you’re a big coffee or tea drinker, it sure helps to have a beverage bar. Especially if you live in a garden home, as I do, with little counter space.
That’s a different kitchen table than you’re accustomed to seeing. I put the round one outside to use.
I had an ulterior motive for getting this long rectangular table. It shall also serve as a place to cut out fabric! And it matches the small round table in my dining room. So I just took two of the chairs from that set and put them with this table.
As you can see, I just cut random strips of scrapbook paper in my selected colors of blue and white and cream. And went to town with the Modge Podge.
See the red and white Harry & David teapot below? I won it on eBay for around a dollar!
Before, the coffee bar had three coffee makers on it. Two of which we didn’t use. So I banished those to the bottom of my potting bench/designated place to hang pots and pans.
This shelf was getting ready to go to the garage, where all things go that I’m not currently finding a use for. But it’s getting so crowded out there.
So I thought, surely I can find a use for it somewhere inside. And this is what I came up with.

Oh, it turned out great! I’m glad to see you got the sticky modge podge off your hands and can type this morning.
That is such a darling little kitchen. I hear ya about the coffee bar. I have a mini sized one sitting on the counter and it sure makes it conveinient.
It turned out pretty. I thought about you this weekend. I was at an antique sale and saw the prettiest blue and white china. I didn’t even pick it up to see the maker because it was so expensive.
I like the revamp and the new table, Brenda!
It turned out great! I love the idea of a coffee bar. Great job! Where in the world did you get that adorable red and white BIRD teapot set? I love that!!
Penny
Put on a fresh pot of coffee … I’m on my way over! Is that the shelf you were painting when I interrupted you last Friday? It looks great. Your kitchen is so warm, cozy and welcoming, just like you!!

I love the way this turned out! The decoupaging is great! (I thought it was a piece of striped wallpaper at first.) I’m like Claudia — I’d love to be sitting at your table and having a cup of coffee with ya! (I’d probably be a rude guest, though, ’cause I know I’d spend most of my time gawking at all of your adorable stuff . . . gosh, I love stuff!)
Grins!
Pamm

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and you have inspired me !!!! I’m changing my dining room, paint and all the “goodies” (I have plenty of them, probably too many) but am stuck on wall paint — so far it’s been painted three times, three colors — don’t laugh, I’ll get it right sooner or later…
What a great place for it and I really like how it turned out!
I’m visiting via puppyluv~Lisa. I love that coffee bar idea!!!

I love the idea of a coffee bar…and I have to say…your kitchen looks like such a cheerful space…love it.
This is the first time I visit your blog. I’m glad I did. You have good decorating skills and your home looks very nice and cosy. You have a Singer sewing machine too. That’s what we have in every home and it is part of a wedding gift that the groom or bride’s parents gives to the bride, during my mom’s generation in the 60s. A real treasure!
Hi Brenda!
Love the decopauged back of the shelf! I really like that you used several patterns of paper – really makes it pop! Love the idea of a coffee bar. Your signs above the coffee pot are so perfect for that spot.
A dollar for that teapot! It’s so CUTE!
Your kitchen is so cheerful. It’s good to make things work in a way that helps make your life easier. I’m always amazed that after living in my house 11 years I’m still finding ways to change things to make it work better for us!
xo,
Manuela
P.S. I’m sending you an email because I have a question.
Love your coffee corner!!
What a lovely, functional corner you’ve carved out in your kitchen. I thought the back of the shelf was material. It’s so pretty and compliments the plates you have hanging above the coffee maker. Thank you for sharing.

Add some coffee cake… and I’m there!
I bet your house feels so warm and comfy. Good coffee, sweet cake, and a lively conversation… what more could you ask for?
I had the same sewing machine stand. Picked it up at the dump. The cabinet was ruined so I topped it with formica and use it as a desk in my very first home… forty years ago. DD has it now on her lovely front porch
Talk to you soon
Bunny Jean
p.s. I love that cute little birdie planter/catchall pot!
What a cute and functional little display! I might try something like that of my own and put my small tea cup collection on the shelf above the more functional coffees and teas.
I just LOVE the colors in your kitchen! My kitchen is also has red , yellow and green and a lot of vintage kitchen pieces. Love the idea of a coffee bar!
Great!
