This morning I went out and cut some sprigs of this and that for an indoor bouquet. I have next to no flowers blooming, so I decided to go with what I had.
First I began with this arrangement of six open-mouthed bottles. Then I got my trusty rusty bucket and started looking about the gardens for likely candidates.
Why not sage? The leaves are pretty and it’s fragrant. So I decided it would be an herb, leaf, and the occasional flower bouquet.
This is what I ended up with: Lavender, basil, sage, rosemary, one lone red geranium, lemon verbena, white purslane, hyacinth bean vine blooms, and a scattering of various purple plant cuttings, dusty miller, and the only blooming black-eyed susan in the garden.
I also switched up what was in my container tied with jute to my chairs. I had all sorts of pretties arranged in here earlier in the week. But for everyday use, I decided favorite magazines would be preferable. This way I can sip on coffee or iced tea and pull out old favorites and thumb through them.
All while enjoying my “make do” bouquet.

I know the feeling, my flowers are scarce right now too. Your arrangement looks lovely. I love your idea on your chairs, nice and handy and oh so cute.
beautiful – i have that same container
It’s pretty and charming Brenda!
I think it’s a great bouquet–and it looks so pretty amid the red and white table and chairs.
We are going out to dinner at a friends’ home tomorrow. I’m planning to take a bouquet of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme in a mason jar.
Best,
Bonnie
I just love your little red and cream table and how you decorate the chairs and the top!!! I think the sage and such looks great!!!!!
Hi Brenda,I love your bottles, and carrier.Your arrangement look pretty…Kathy
It’s a beautiful bouquet Brenda. I imagine our flowers are suffering too. Our neighbor is watering, while we are at the lake, but the temps have been so very bad the past few days. We are having a bit of respite though…but the heat returns next week.
I like that little container on the chair.
Well, you may not have a lot of flowers, but what you put together looks very pretty. You got the PB bottle basket didn’t you? Looks good. I started to get one, but then I would have to find bottles.
I love your make do bouquet! Beautiful! have a wonderful day! ~lulu
Brenda,
I wish you could walk through my gate and visit me, too! You make do flowers look great! I love all the things you put on the back of your chair.
Your make-do bouquet turned out very cute. I often add herbs to my bouquets. One of the best things I did this season was plant zinnias in pots on my patio. I am getting lots of bouquets from them. In the past I have put them in the ground and they haven’t done well. I think being in the pots I can see them everyday and tend to them as needed.
love the polka dotted fabric on your chairs!
you were so sweet to have mentioned my blog yesterday. i really appreciate your kindness.
i hope you have the loveliest of weekends

Brenda, your comment on my blog sent cold chills up my spine! I’ve always had that sort of thing in the back of my mind and was very cautious when we took our little boys to the fair. Fortunately, they did not become fair enthusiasts! In all the years the Lake County Fair has been going on, I’ve not heard of any horrible incident but there have been some problems. I so wish the fair was just about agriculture but guess that is not a big enough draw.
Best,
Bonnie
My roses are blooming…they aren’t real pretty, tho…the heat is making them frown….
I do the same with anything green in my garden..Your container looks great.

Your make-do bouquet is charming. I have several black eyed susans but not for long, I fear. Even the rose bush has stopped! WHERE ARE MY FLOWERS??
Magazines are a perfect choice.

We are having cooler temps, Brenda, but I don’t count on them lasting long. My black eyed Susan’s don’t seem to mind and are making great cut flowers as well as my hostas. Love the containers on the back of your chairs!!!

I just adore your white table and chairs Brenda! And the cushions, oh just what I want! Your arrangement is charming and creative, love the container idea!
Happy Weekend,

Ahhh…Lavender! I know that bouquet made the room smell fresh and outdoorsy! ♥
Hello Brenda! The only things blooming around here right now are the tomatoes and strawberries and in this heat those blossoms are few and far between. I love your little bottles and carrier..what a great way to display cut flowers or in this case herbs too. That’s a sweet table and chairs you have and I love that little thingy on the back of the chair holding your magazines and the chalk board great idea. Thanks for the inspiration….have a great weekend! Maura
Lovely! I really like those containers on your chairs!
Hugs, Lisa

…smells good to me!
I think herb bouquets are the best. All the different colors and textures and scents. This looks very sweet. Makes me wish I could get herb bouquet deliveries every day like the old milk deliveries.
Hi Brenda,
That is some good lookin’ “make do” arrangement! I love it and can only imagine how fragrant it must be…I know you are enjoying it!
Fondly,
Ann

Aaahhh…. the bouquet of herbs. Do you know mine from my post 2 weeks ago still look and smell good? The rose bit the dust, though.
Just lovely…..blessings on your weekend.
Now that’s just why I like coming here! Making such a lot of beauty from what you have – no spending tons of money which I just don’t have – thanks
Lynn.
I love your little nook here. You have just given me some good ideas here. Think I will go cut some of the Oregano down. LOL
What a cute idea! Not too many things blooming here too. Your new button is so cute! I’ll switch it out for the old one on my blog soon.

Woow….. this bouquets on the table refreshing that room. Nice flower…
What a sweet idea! Your sage looks different than mine…I like your fatter leaves, mine are narrow. I imagine there are all kinds of sage. I know I had pineapple one time. I love your containers on the back of the chairs…GREAT idea! Did you cover them with newsprint or did they come that way? You have the GREATEST ideas! You should have your own magazine but then I’d have to pay for it….this is MUCH nicer on my budget! LOL!
It’s a beautiful bunch Brenda, It look great, all the thinds you put on the back of you chair
