They are so cute… I have a bluebird house and the sparrows took it over…the pictures are great.
Pattie
I was one that was hacked and just changed my passwords and they will be changed often. A hassle, but needs to be done. I don’t know about the paid services.
Thanks for sharing your bit of the world!
I didn’t know there was a special type of birdhouse for bluebirds. What makes it different?
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
XO,
Jane
Great post…..made me laugh out loud! Great way to start the day.
Thanks for your photos and humor!!
Changing your password often and using a strong password each time will help, but you know whatever you do, they will find a way once its started, regardless! The blusjays are so pretty. If sparrows have been in their house, they will ‘not’ use it! Make sure their house is clean, clean from other birds’ nesting. Then they will go in!
Thanks so much friend I really needed it! Luv-Loretta
I am no expert at all in this area . . . but have heard it is best to post your e.mail like this:
susieq(at)g.mail(dot)com.
Written this way, it is less likely to be recognized as a e.mail address.
I need to change mine.
Fondly,
Glenda
Not sure about this but changing the password frequently and having it to be very strong seems to help. If hackers want to, they can get into anything…it’s just doing something that takes them longer so they’ll move on.
Love all the photos!
Pat
I just love seeing those bluebirds in your yard! I wish we had those here.
happy saturday, brenda!
love the plates hanging up outside!!!
i’ve had a few emails come in but i delete without opening and so far, that has kept any problems at bay. i know cynthia (cottage design) had that happen. ?

This is the first I’ve heard of this so thanks Brenda. I guess changing passwords often helps…
You are so lucky to have bluebirds in your yard! They are so colorful!
Up north, at least, bluebirds won’t nest in the same part of the yard – they like a little distance. The recommendation here at least is to put up two houses, so the tree swallows can take one and the bluebirds can take the other. Somehow it all seems to work out with the two-bluebird-box system. Maybe your garden is just too cozy to resist! My only insight into e-mail is to never open attachments, even when you think you know who has sent them.
I too, did not realize there were certain houses for Blue birds…I love all you pictures..
I change my password often…..
Shug
I love the blue birds! SO wish we had some! No ideas about your email situations…..But may I say I LOVE the two plates hanging outside by the bird houses!! SO clever!!
Those are so charming. I love the rustic feel of them.
I had a yahoo account that was hacked into. They took all my email addresses and mailed out a notice to everyone in my address book that I was away lost my purse and needed to get money. Because it looked like it was from me alot of people opened it. I think what happened is what I thought was yahoo asked me to verify my password and without thinking I did. Don’t verify your password this is not something yahoo would normally do.
I suggest labeling the houses for the bluebirds, that way they will know which one is theirs. I hadn’t heard about the email hacking problem – I’ll change my passwords right now just in case that helps defend against it. Hope you’re having a great Saturday!
I change my password fairly frequently – but probably not frequently enough.
Hackers are good at what they do. I have a feeling they can do it whether you have a paid account or a free one.

I just love bluebirds. You are lucky to get so many. They must be a little pickier here in Indiana. It took many years after putting up some houses for them to nest in our yard. But it was so worth the wait!
Hi Brenda — I have bluebirds and they will even go in the martin house sometimes!!! I figure if it meets their standards, who am I to fuss about it? I do need to put up the other bluebird house that’s in the garage.
Those bluebirds are cute as can be! Maybe the ones at the ‘wrong address’ just like something a little different
Re the email issues I’ve had a non-free one hacked in the past, have friends who have had ‘freebie’ accounts hacked so I don’t think it makes any difference. And by the way the Australian govt. has recently had it’s top security level email server hacked (and no doubt our ‘spooks’ are at it too) which just goes to prove that there aint no such thing as a ‘safe’ system.
Your bluebird friends are so pretty – thanks for sharing them with us. I don’t see them around my place – just lots of bluejays.
So far – knock on wood – I have not had a problem with a hacker. I also have heard to change the password often and using a combination of letters & numbers that only meant something to you. I wish people that do things like that would use that same energy towards something good in the world.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. The weather was absolutely beautiful today and I have been gone most of the day.
lindoo simplismente!
We had one bluebird visit us last year, but it didn’t stay. We live in the woods and I believe they like open fields! Sad…..
Over my past 3 years of blogging I’ve noticed that it tends to be Yahoo e-mail accounts that are hacked into.
DI
I don’t know anything about your bluebird issue Brenda, but I bet they sure are fun to watch. I always love hummingbirds too. Do you have any of those?
As for the email thing, I think Donna at Funky Junk talked about that. I don’t really think paid or unpaid really matters. Like everyone else said it’s probably more about having a strong password. Perhaps the people that were hacked into had a virus on their computer that watched their keystrokes or something.

We don’t have bluebirds around here, but I love feeding the birds we do have.
I just got an “email” today, from a bloggy friend that had been hacked, and it’s the second one in as many weeks. It looks like a strong password is the most important thing from what others are writing.
Blessings,
Marcia
Maybe he is just visiting friends.
I’ve heard the free ones are the ones most attacked by idiots.
Maybe it would help to just get the paid service. However, it can happen there, too.
Password changing is always a good idea.
Those are the prettiest birds.
Love these pictures of the bluebirds. I know you enjoy your friends so much.
I have never considered paying for email services. You should do what you feel comfortable with Brenda and sorry I was no help there for you.
Keep taking these pictures of your blue birds their beautiful
Love
Maggie
What I know about e-mail has more to do with the browser you are using to view your e-mail. Internet explorer is the worst at not being secure. Firefox and Google Chrome is much better. But, you really need to make sure you have security on your computer that secures your email account as well. So, if you choose Norton’s or even AVG or some other virus protection, invest in the extra email protection. Changing your password monthly is recommended. My Yahoo email has been hacked and sent spam to my contact list. So, I had to delete that email and open another. If you get sent an email with NO subject line, DO NOT OPEN IT. It’s probably spam! Hope this helps.
….hmmmmmmm….I don’t think it matters if you have paid or unpaid….I’ve had my hotmail addresses for almost 10 years & was ONLY recently (6 months ago) hacked & that was after having the SAME simple password since the addresses were created….!!
I now have a complicated password & cross my fingers it doesn’t happen again….!!
LOVE the bird life in your yard….We don’t have any birds visit our place as we have a small HIGH walled yard & two pussy cats….Doesn’t make for a bird friendly environment I’m afraid….!!
Cheers,
)
