A Little Help From My Friends

I moved the two yellow chair gardens that I planted last year out into the big garden. They add a pop of vertical color out there where it’s needed.
There are various “mounds” of purple oxalis about the yard. I love their perky purple shades. The color so rich I feel like I could get lost in their depths.

The bluebonnets are about to bloom.
Sometimes I find that I’m really silly. A few days ago I took my blog roll off my sidebar, as I’d read it takes awhile to load on various computers. And put it up in my navigation bar under pages.

But, guess what?

I missed seeing my “friends” there on the sidebar. Even though, with just a click, I could see you all again.

I feel that I have virtually poured myself into this space on the internet in the past two years. It is a second home to me.

So I sat down last night and put every single one back on the sidebar. Took me hours. But I felt a sense of satisfaction seeing my friends there before I laid my head down to sleep.
Does that sound even remotely silly to you?
Well, I guess there are two places where I feel really comfortable. One is outside taking photos in the garden. The other is being right here. Telling you about my life. And reading as you share your life with me.

It seems a bit odd saying that, as I haven’t even met most of you. Still, it turns out that you are my nearest and dearest friends.

  1. I’ve just had an “oh, yes” moment, thanks to your pretty yellow chair. I am going to inherit my family’s heavy white wrought-iron lawn furniture, although I couldn’t picture anybody actually wanting to sit in the chairs. I want to put them in a “secret garden” — and now I know that I’ll use at least a couple of them for pot surfaces (I can’t actually remove the seats!) Thank you for your inspiration! Annie

  2. I completely understand and can relate. Beautiful photos … as always.

  3. Brenda, that does not sound silly at all..I count you as a friend as well, even though we have never met. (((Hugs)))
PS the chairs are adorable in the garden.

  4. Not silly to me! You don’t want to know some of the things I do. :-D
    Have a great weekend.

  5. Brenda, your photos are fabulous. What a beautiful garden you have. I especially love the bluebonnets sprinkled with water. So nice of you to visit today and leave a sweet message. ~ Angela

  6. I adore my blogroll. You have probably heard me say that before. If I ever lost it, I would literally cry. I do have a copy of it…but of course, sometimes, it changes. So, I don’t think it is silly at all. I have a regular routine with my blogging. And if I miss, I feel out of sync.
    Have a great weekend…

  7. What beautiful things to say, it must be that you are as lovely as the flowers you grow. So happy to be part of your life if even a small way.

  8. Oh I do understand and I also count you as a special and dear friend. Love seeing your garden. The yellow chairs are fantastic. Such a super idea. Hugs, Marty

  9. Not silly a bit. I’m happy b/c my blog is one on your list! woo hoo! I know what you mean though. It’s a quick way to glance through everyone’s posts.
The yellow chair is so striking. Wow! You really do have a green thumb. Can’t wait to see those TX bluebonnets in bloom!

  10. Nope….not silly at all….I get by with a little help from my friends….
    Hugs,
    Penny

  11. such a great way to add color. I can’t wait to garden we just had more snow today.

  12. I feel the same way. Nothing like blog buddies. Love the yellow chair.

  13. It is much too early to get digging in the dirt here in Chicago . . . but that yellow chair garden surely inspires me anyway. Love it.

    Fondly,
    Glenda

  14. Your deck/garden is such a welcoming, relaxing space… I know you must LOVE spending time out there every day. That yellow chair/planter is so cute and does add some fun color to that corner. I used to have the blog roll over on the side, but realized that I was just duplicating what is already there on the dashboard blog list… still I am thinking about adding them as a separate “page”… or maybe just do blog buttons… I don’t know, still trying to decide. I know what you mean about feeling like your fellow bloggers are wonderful friends!

  15. Not silly to me either! I love my blog world! I’ve met so many new friends on here..I spend hours sometimes just reading about what is going on in all my friends lives!
Love your garden too! It’s absolutely beautiful!

  16. It doesn’t sound silly at all. My blog roll disappeared one time with the wrong click. It took some time getting it all back, but well worth it.
    Your pictures are stunning!

  17. That’s the neat thing about a blog, it’s yours… always do what makes you happy:@)

  18. Am a new reader of your blog and LOVE all the pictures…especially the garden ones. Can’t wait until it is warm enough here in PA to get out into the garden…but unfortunately we had April Fool’s SNOW this morning….

  19. Brenda,
Blogging and the buddies we make are such a comfort, aren’t they? I feel the same as you. Your plants are looking wonderful!

  20. It doesn’t sound silly at all, Brenda, and I appreciate being numbered among your friends. It always makes me happy when friend’s include me in their lives, and that goes double for you. :-)

Love your chair and those cute mushrooms. Your whole garden is pretty, and I wish I could sit out there with you and enjoy nature. I also wish you could sit here with me and enjoy my squirrels who I have named and the birds that are bathing daily in the bird bath. SO cute.

We had two HUGE trees fall from the neighbors’ yards into our back yard yesterday, and I haven’t seen it yet. Someone is emailing me pictures. I have tree men coming in the morning to remove the debris of what once was the home to various birds. It missed our house by about five feet which is scary, and I am so very thankful. This is the second tornadic type wind that has taken trees down in our neighborhood involving my yard. Yikes! I have one tree left back there. ;-)

    XO,

    Sheila

  21. Wow Brenda, you are truly a good friend to have done that with your blogroll and no it’s not silly, I feel the same way! You have poured your heart and soul into your blog and it shows my friend. Thanks for the beautiful pictures and words as always!

    Kat :)

  22. I go through ups and downs about the blog roll, sometimes I feel like it makes it look messy, but then I feel guilty if I want to remove one…I love the yellow chairs..what a cute idea..I have a 2nd blog for my gardens…http://sitwithmeinmygarden.blogspot.com/ Come on by and visit…I’ll put yours on my page too!
    Liz

  23. Doesn’t sound silly to me…I’m the same way….I like being able to see everyone and being able to immediately see when someone has posted something new.

  24. Beautiful pictures and post. Have a wonderful weekend sweet lady. Bonnie

  25. You’re at the top of the good blog friend list, Brenda. There is MANY a day you have made my day for me. You’re all about help, goodwill, and positivity. Thanks for including me.

  26. Brenda, I found your blog through Ann On Sutten Place.I’m now a follower. I love all your garden pics! I would love for you to come over to my lil ole blog sometime for a visit & maybe a follow. Off to check out some more of your blog. Allison @ leomommyof4.blogspot.com :)

  27. Not odd at all! I love that bloggers have their friends on the their side bar! That’s how I find a lot of new wonderful blogs!

Lovin your yellow chair! I could live in your back yard!!!

    Jennifer

  28. The yellow chair is FABULOUS! And I hope you can feel the BIG HUG coming your way!

  29. What a lovley post about frindship and I agree with you, I feel very close with my fellow bloggers too. Love, love the chair!

  30. I agree about feeling comfortable here “talking” to all my new friends. It has been so nice to get to know so many people that share the same interests.

Thank you for reminding to put drainage holes in the wagon. Also, could you tell us what the plant is with the green leaves with reddish veins? It is very unique.

  31. I love your yellow potted chairs! I have one that is blue and I almost grabbed another the other day and now I wish I had. I like that you just plopped a pot in there. I stapled screen in it to make a basket. But it was a wood chair :)

  32. Hi Brenda, the formation of the leaves on those bluebonnets is so unique. They are pretty even before they bloom. I just visited Brambly — love the Bitty Brambly created. What a pretty little place to get away to. I think I could live there. :) Your garden is lovely. Our weather is a bit dreary today. Not sure if it is the change before the thunderstorms predicted or if we have a bit of dust again. White skies and no sun today. But Spring Break is here, a quiet day and I am crafting and cooking. Happy day! Best wishes to you, Tammy

  33. Everything looks lovely. I can’t wait to get outside and create.
    Have a fantastic weekend.

  34. Hi Brenda – I just found your blog and it is just so lovely. I can tell you put a lot of time and love into it. It is really nice to be part of a community that shares the same love for home. Thanks for sharing yours!

  35. Hi Brenda! Your garden looks amazing. I’m heading out to work in mine today. It’s supposed to be super warm this weekend. We are unfortunately, in a drought situation that has me worried though.

  36. I’ve mentioned before but it bears repeating, you’re my Guardian Angel in Blogland, a friend in my head, and your backyard is like an oasis. And you are one fine photographer! xo,

  37. Brenda,
Love your yard, house and you! You’re right, even though we have never met and may never meet, I feel like you ARE a friend!

    Julie

  38. Brenda…you are so NOT silly. I have also wondered about the length of my blog roll. But I just don’t think I could live without it now. I tried it with just the blog titles but I couldn’t even do that. I went back to blog title and post title. Your post pictures are awesome as is you space. Thanks for sharing your home and your heart. ~Ann

  39. Crazy ’bout the yellow chair gardens.

  40. Not silly to me either. You put so much in to this blog and I think you should have whatever on your page that makes you happy! So far, your blog loads very well for me. Your garden is splendid!

  41. This is a lovely post, Brenda…and one I totally understand…blog friends just get you, don’t they? XO

  42. I’m another fan of that yellow chair in your garden – that is an eye catcher, for sure!

  43. You are so kind…wonderful pics!! I love the vase in the yellow chair!xx

  44. I am so glad you did because you had the best blogroll ever and I used it all the time to find other blogs when I wanted to go visiting. I think because our tastes are so similar that you just automatically pick ones I would if I had found them. FYI your page loads instantly for me and I have sort of slow wifi but it is the pages with giant headers and too much going on that are slow to load for me.

  45. I have found so many wonderful blogs through various blog roles. I think not only are they comforting but serve a good purpose. I have many friends who do not blog and don’t really understand the comfort it brings sharing our lives with one another. So it is so nice to have “blog friends” who understand. Do what makes you happy, and keep taking wonderful photos. Your birds are beautiful. Lana http://www.lifeatwildberrycottage.com

  46. love the yellow chair planters! oh and the mushroom stakes in the pot too…bet there’s fairies in there…
