The September Garden

I got brave and hobbled out with a cane to the gardens yesterday. I can’t tell you how much infinite pleasure that gives me!

To see the flowers and plants I’d nurtured through June up close was food for the soul. Although many are a little ragged around the edges!
The smiling moon is nearly covered now.

If I could have stood up any longer, I’d have tried to catch some shots of the birds. But I wore out pretty quick.

Just to be close to the action was a magnificent moment. And I have Judy’s John to thank for watering my gardens all summer long. The man deserves a gardening medal of some sort.

Both of them deserve good Samaritan of the year awards for coming to my rescue when I had no one else to help me. I will be forever grateful to them.

For John to brave the horrid heat and keep my gardens going, knowing how much they meant to me, is a gift I’ll never forget.
I know I tend to wax rhapsodic over this topic. But if you ever find yourself in my shoes (or right now shoe), and you have someone so kind step in to help, you will know exactly what it means.

  1. You’ve cultivated some real beauty, Brenda… “Grow where you are Planted”. And you have :-)

  2. You have done a wonderful job of making a bad time much better. The friends you have that are helping you are priceless. I was ill once and could not work on my garden. No one helped, and it all went to ruin. I moved from that house shortly after and have a sweet little place now. But I’ll never forget what it was like to be so alone in my illness. I help others whenever I can. Hugs to you all for being there for each other.

  3. Brenda the kindness of friends means more then some will ever know! You have been blessed in the midst of adversity! It has given you a new perspective. God works in strange ways sometimes. I am so happy you were able to get out in your gardens even for just a little while. Happy Sunday! Hugs, Linda

  4. There is no way to thank people like Judy and John. The only way that might come close is for you to pass their love and concern on to another individual in need.
People like J&J make this world a better place.

  5. So glad to hear you were able to get out amongst your flowers. I know that had to feel sooo good!
Judy and John sound like wonderful folks.
Love that first photo of the morning glory and how you also captured the little tendrils.

  6. Great friends to keep your beautiful flowers alive!

  7. Thanks to your friend’s care, your garden is looking beautiful. Perhaps even sitting outside for awhile each day would be good for the soul. It’s great to hear you’re becoming more mobile.

  8. Brenda ~ John and Judy sound like such good friends. You are so blessed to have had them stand by your side during your struggles. What a wonderful person to keep your garden alive so that you could step out to view them once again. Have a wonderful day. Soon you will be fully mobile.

  9. I know your visit to the garden made you feel so much better. You do have the best friends in Judy and John, and I know you treasure them immensely! Continue to improve!

  19. I’m sure you’ll find a way to thank John and Judy for all the help they’ve been to you this summer. Now that it’s hopefully cooling off a little you can get out there more often. Your pictures were great, as usual. Just remember to be careful and not overdo it and rest! You’re not quite there yet! I’m sure the puppies love it that you can go outside w/them!

  30. Really pretty flowers!

  31. So good to see that you were out with your flowers again. They are looking so lush and pretty. It was so hot and unusually dry here this year that my Knock Out roses looked like dried rose potpourri while they were still on the bush, and that was with daily watering. It was so good of your friends to help you in so many ways. I’m sure your strength will be coming back faster and faster now that you are able to get out and about again.

  32. I am so happy for you! Not only that you finally got to get outside and take photos of your beloved garden, but that you also have angel-friends such as Judy & John that have taken care of you, your dogs, and your garden. I’m sure you have let them know how much you appreciate everything…all you can do now is to pay it forward. :-)

  33. Your garden looks lovely Brenda, despite the temps this summer and your being unable to attend, the way you’d like.

It is lovely to have friends that truly love doing for you. Unconditional Love…that is what that’s called.

    …have a lovely week. Pat

  34. I recall a woman who left Texas awhile back and she was not only saddened by leaving her home that she loved, but also her dear friends…..Although your garden is stark raving beautiful, I think the real lovely flowers in your garden are the 2 beautiful friends you have found.
    (((HUGS))) Susanne :)

  35. Brenda,
So happy you could spend time in your garden! :) Sandy

  36. What beautiful photography!!! LOVE those last days of summer. :)

    Hugs,

  37. It’s a good thing nobody ever said life’s a rose garden huh? So glad for you to have such helpful wonderful friends. Know what you mean.
Hope your surgery will heal and get better and better as each day goes by.
In 98 hubs and I in rollover accident. My right arm was broken all the way, just skin keeping it on. OUCH! We had such wonderful neighbors who took care of me as I couldn’t even bathe or dress on my own with my arm. Hubs on the road truck driving.
Had to keep it in a halter of sorts that was a band around my waist then straps to keep my arm stationary as I had no control over it.
My dear neighbors pretty much put their life on hold to take care of me. I wasn’t supposed to drive but did after 3 weeks. We lived out in country in MT so driving around not the easiest.
My neighbor’s feelings were hurt when I got more able to take care of myself and didn’t need them to be at my beck and call after a few weeks.
I can only imagine how tough it’s been for you. Think we learn alot from our situations and are so glad for the gracious love and help we receive from people that don’t have to be there for us but are. Speedy recovery.
