Abi seems to be saying: “Ma, it’s cold outside. Can’t we just stay in bed all day?” (Very tempting, I must admit.)
Charlie seems to be of the same opinion.
But we get up, do our morning chores (or I do) and begin our day.
I wanted you to see these strange zinnias that have been growing out front. The bottoms are pink and the tops are red.
They don’t look as red in the photos. But Judy and I have commented on the strangeness of it often.
I love to see the sun shining through the layers of cannas, which are still undaunted by the sudden shift in weather.
And the lovely morning glories are tenaciously hanging on. They are a bright light in my day.
Linking to Elaine’s Sunny Simple Sundays.

My Abi and Charlie seem to be enjoying this cooler weather. Glad you got a picture of those zinnias out front. They are so different. As usual, your photos are just beautiful. Amazing job from an amazing woman.
Judy
Love zinnias ! The strange ones are quite striking!
Interesting flower, Brenda, maybe it is a twin or double pollinated? xo
The flower is very pretty and unusual, but I love your morning glory pictures! I’m fascinated by how the vines twirl and twist around so. Have a nice Sunday!
It is a good day to stay in bed here today, but like you we don’t. That is a very strange zinnia.
I am enjoying the last of your blooms with you!
hugs, Linda
Abi and Charlie are so cute. Your zinnias, morning glories, and cannas are gorgeous. Do you have to dig up your canna bulbs and bring them in in your part of the country? I have always thought cannas are pretty, but I remember my Mom digging them up and bringing them in and storing them in a cold part of the basement every year, and I don’t want to do that. Your living room looks so inviting, I found myself having to study the picture to see all of the wonderful items you have displayed.
I really don’t like getting out of bed on cold mornings and today was definitely one. Thankfully, hubby is up early and turns on the heat! Your flowers are doing wonderfully for this time of year. Zinnias are one of my favorite, I’d love to have a garden full of them. Do yours come back every year?
XO,
Jane
We’ve noticed the cooler water lately too. Just today I finally put a sweater on Holly because she looked so cold curled up in a ball on the floor. However, she quickly let me know she was not in the mood for a sweater today, as she took it off herself twice as soon as I put it on her. How she does that, I don’t know. On cool, lazy days like the weekend, I may have been more tempted to give into Abi and Charlie and stayed in bed with them.
I’m glad you got up so you could share your wonderful pictures with us. I’ve never seen a zinnia quite like that. As someone else said, it looks like a double bloom. Very pretty.
Hi Brenda ! Abi and Charlie look so cute! I wish we groomed our dogs as perfectly (their haircuts never come out that nice at home). MADE MY DAY to catch up on blogs. Our pup (Lhasa Apso) has been sick & on meds, but finally things are returning to normal. HAPPY SUNDAY !! oxoxo
Brenda, I am agreeing with the dogs…it’s cold here today…but will be very cold tonight. You sure have a green thumb:):) Smiles, Susie
Brenda ~ your morning glories are absolutely glorious. What a beautiful colour and the way the light shines through. You have captured pure beauty. Thank you so much for sharing
Strange Zinnias I think they are very different.
Merle……
Beautiful photos as usual. Aren’t morning glories incredibel? They are so translucent like porcelain. They are one of my favorites.
It’s chilly here too, and it feels so good! 62 in my house and I am a happy camper. But Minnie is not so happy, and I can’t just hold her all day, so I got out the heating pad for her. Spoiled kitty
But they all should be, right?!! Hope you’re having a good day,
xo, Andrea
Just lovely! I am loving this cooler weather but hate to see things really starting to die off…………that zennia is so unique- have never seen one like that before!
Brenda, save those zennia seeds and contack one of the major seed companies or the Texas A&M plant research division of the college. I am sure someone will want to purchase those seeds from you!! Seriously!!!
Always love to see your puppies!! they make my day too. went to Weatherford last weekend and in a shop a lady had a rescue dog named Daisy. she was so cute curled in her bed beside the woman- it was rainy and cold. I found a 4 drawer sewing cabinet. cant remember if I said so or not. it is oak. in great condition. it looks like the drawers in old sewing machines only in a cabinet. it sits on my counter in the kitchen and holds all sorts of things. it was 89 but they let me have it for 55. a nice find and one of my favorite things. it has been cold and rainy and dark here for days in Wise County, near Denton. I also made some of those candles with beans and mason jars and love them this time of the year with my tea lights i put in cream and sugar bowls.
Those babies are the cutest. THE cutest, and I love that shot of the morning glory.
XO,
Sheila
Hi Brenda, Just wondering–have you ever looked into selling some of your photos on Etsy? Your photography is really good.
