The Changing Of Seasons

The Changing Of Seasons

In just a few days, we will turn the calendar over to November.

Halloween pumpkins will be turned into pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner.

The flowers will have gone dormant for the winter months.

We will settle in with our books and catalogs, and plan for spring.

And enjoy indoor pursuits. Like decorating we put off while the gardens were lush and needed daily weeding.

It is the blending of the seasons.

  1. Hi Brenda – I’ve been following you since just before your accident. Glad to hear you are back in therapy and hope your recovery goes well. I’ve had back surgery and a spontaneous pelvic fracture in the last 2 years and being older (63) healing is much slower. I work full time and am doing well. I enjoy your blog and pictures of nature that you share. Off topic question – I really like the font in your title and headings – what is it? I’ve also checked out your other blog and find it very informative, even though I’m not a blogger. Sorry for the novel, and wish you the best!

  3. We’re expecting drastic changes here in the mountains! We just got back from a walk…the last one at these warm temps! Sweet hugs!

  4. Hi Brenda
Do I spot an anthology of poems by Robert Frost, one of my favourite American poets? Now there’s the perfect way to spend a cold, wintry, November afternoon… by the fire with a cozy blanket and steaming cup of hot chocolate, pondering “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”. Hypnotic!

  5. I enjoyed the evolution of the indoors and outdoors in this post and it got me thinking of the big decorating event to come.. you know the one. Enjoy your pie! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. Hi Brenda,
    Glad you are recovering well.
I love the ‘blending of the seasons’ best of all!
    Your Autumn and ourSspring…wonderful times.
I find the warm days and the cool nights and mornings of autumn so invigorating…and the longer daylight and slowing down as it gets hotter in spring so relaxing. Winter and Summer are just hard work to get through for me.
    Have a good day

  7. I am looking forward to being indoors and snuggling up with a good book!

  8. mmm…the blending of the seasons. Sounds lovely.
Our weather changed very quickly on Thursday…from warm to a 20°drop! and getting mighty chilly overnight.
We got home while ago and got roaring fire going in the stove and getting ready for game 3 of the World Series in a few minutes~

  9. Brenda, my husband and I put the last of our lawn furniture and garden decor in the shed today, preparing for snow any time.

  10. Pumpkins, Starfish, Autumn, Artistic Vignettes, Delicious stacks of books…Dreamy color…Ahhh…I love it all! I will miss the flowers, but I know they need to go to sleep for a while so they can return in the Spring fresh as a daisy.
Thinking of you today, Brenda…and hoping you are snug as a bug in a rug.
    Blessings,
    Carolynn

  11. Lovely photos you have taken. Autumn is a lovely time with lots of colors and you have captured several. Gardening Books shortens winter. Bless you! Zinnia

  12. We put all of our patio furniture away yesterday. I have a few Halloween things outside our front door but my vintage bike is tucked in the shed until spring.

  13. Yes, hubby and I talking about this very same thing yesterday as the Oregon rain and gray overtook our week. The patio furniture is put away and the fireplace is turned on. Sewing and crafting projects are knee high in my craft room. I’m just not ready for the change in weather yet. My spring and summer lost to surgeries and cancer treatments has left me still craving sunshine.

  14. I’m very sad to see fall go so soon. It doesn’t seem to last long enough. As soon as Halloween passes we all rush into Christmas.

  15. I was just thinking I need to get out today and do some cleanup in the garden. The colder weather seems to have set in for the next week so I will have to bundle up when I go out there. I have plenty to do indoors, too so I will definitely be busy.

    Hugs,
    Laura

  17. I have almost all of the books in your stack. I just wish I had the time to look through them.
