Changes To The Coffee Bar & A Red Rooster

I have made some changes to the coffee bar. It began when I needed the red, white and blue lamp in another room. I’ll show that later.

So yesterday before PT I hopped on over to Target and found this lamp. I guess it could be said I can’t have too many lamps. With some people it’s jewelry or fabric. With me it’s lamps.

Then something rather unexpected happened. I was meandering down the kitchen aisles. And I saw this red rooster creamer. It was the only one left. $5. That seems to be a magic price for me.

Lo and behold, before I could even take the time to think it through, he had flown off the shelf where he was all alone and was in my basket, wings still flapping and feathers still fluttering.

You don’t see the small Cuisinart coffee maker because I decided to store it up in the open shelved cabinets. Figured I’d get it down when I needed it.

I also painted the cup and saucer painting frame blue. It was gold and just didn’t do the trick.

Do you see something else different? Why it’s the way I have my Keurig K-cups arranged. I thought it looked rather festive for the holidays. I normally put Christmas ornaments on this two-tiered piece, but I’m not wanting to dig through the shed to get to them.

Tell me, what would you do if a little red rooster creamer flew right off the lonely shelf into your basket? Would you have the heart to put him back?

{Note: Remember the giveaway here on this post. And Judy’s sale at her Etsy shop is still going on.}

  1. Think he loves his new home…as much as…you love his new perch on the coffee bar. It looks great.

  2. Oh no I would not want to put it back.So cute and the perfect pop of color! Love your coffee station! I love that bread board hanging there too!

  3. Keeping it Cozy says:

Love your lamp, rooster… it’s all so pretty! Also, the way you’ve arranged your k-cups is so neat… what a great idea.

  4. I was giggling so much at your story that Ella was looking at me like I was nuts! Naturally he would want to come home with you! Have you seen your adorable home!? If I were that rooster, I would too!

  5. If a cobalt blue rooster ever flies in my cart, I’ll keep him for sure!

  6. If that adorable rooster flew into your basket, he was obviously meant to go home with you. :-) Looove that lamp, too! It was the first thing I noticed!

    • I just saw that lamp, grabbed the first shade I saw, and fell in love. I needed to get to PT, so didn’t have time to drool over them all.

  7. Mary @ Ms Redo says:

I would definitely bring that poor lonely rooster home with me, so glad you brought him home! Girl, that teacup picture looks so incredibly awesome with the blue frame! And I’m loving your K-cups on the tiered platter. Your coffee station could almost make me start drinking coffee … almost! Mary

  8. I would certainly keep him! Especially at that price:)

  9. Carol Pirozek says:

Hi Brenda! I love your new coffee station..and of course the Red Rooster just makes it and he has found a great place to be..and for 5.00?? I am jealous!!!You always find the best deals!I’m happy for you!! everything looks wonderful!! Love ya! Carol

  10. Isn’t it funny how some things just hop right off the shelf into our shopping carts!

  11. love this coffee bar, the rooster, the coffee pods! If I run to Target I know the rooster here will be gone too. I am never lucky in the chasing after someone else’s fun buys. I also love the lamp. Good job!

    • Look in the section where they have pitchers and stuff in gold, white, red and turquoise. It’s the same spot I got my gold pitcher on the mantel.
      Brenda

  12. My Little Home and Garden says:

The rooster is cute. I also like the way you have the various items arranged on the wall.

  13. Linda @ A La Carte says:

Oh that little red rooster would have had to come home with me also! Very cute and very you! Love the new lamp also.

    hugs, Linda

  14. I love the rooster creamer. Now I’m going to go visit my local Targets to see if they have one for me. I’m also going to blatently copy your idea for displaying your coffee. I have a three-tier Christmas server that usually sits empty on my dining table (because I can’t be trusted with that much candy). I’m moving it over to MY coffee bar tonight. I also stole that idea from you. You are so inspiring!

  15. You absolutely had to bring the red rooster home and I just may have to run out and try to find his cousin! I bought a new lamp yesterday at Target too. It is posted in my kitchen today. The little rooster lamp I had in my kitchen for years basically crumbled when I was cleaning a few weeks ago. Love your coffee bar.

  16. Charlotte MacDiarmid says:

By golly, Brenda, I think that rooster saw you coming down the aisle.. He needs to be on your coffee bar and I’m sure he wanted to go home with you. Your K-cups look almost like cupcakes sitting there~~~so cute and festive.. Now I’m wondering what you did with your blue and white lamp.. You know how to keep all of us in suspense.
Everything looks so nice and the blue frame around your tea cups is just perfect..
I need to shop in Target more.. It’s my daughter’s favorite place to go.
    Hugs, Charlotte

  17. Brenda that looks so good!! I love your new lamp And rooster. What a great idea a tiered plate to hold your k cups.

    Kathy

    • I’ve had candles all around that tiered plate. I have had ornaments. I don’t dare have candy. I’d gain 20 pounds.
      Brenda

  18. Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams says:

My eyes flew to the cupcake display of coffee pods, love that look. And yes of course the red rooster is lovely, he is king of the tabletop. A great buy.

  19. northern cottage says:

how cute is this…..love the tiered stand for the pods and it feels like such a bright cheery spot! Whip me up a cup & I’ll be over!! xo

  20. Happy Gram Carol says:

I’ve seen that rooster at Target! Only he didn’t get in my basket, now I wish he had! I really like that coffee bar….wish I could have you come do something like that at my house!

  21. Brenda, I saw a red chicken with white polka dots today, at the Hobby-Lobby store, and thought of you as soon as I saw it. It’s like when I see red accents , it makes me think of you. Hope you are doing better with your health, healing. Smiles to you, Susie

  22. yep mr. roo would have come home with me too.. what a struttin lil cutie he is..

  23. TracyMB @ Crow's Feet Chic says:

Oh my, I love your new little feathered friend — he’s perfect at the coffee bar. Love the novel use of the tiered serving piece too. Lamps call to me, but I can resist them. Only because then I can buy the things I can’t resist if I don’t take home the lamp. Target is coming to Canada in the spring… I trust there will be items flying off the shelves into my cart too. I may have to have two carts…

  24. Of course the rooster had to come home with you! I also have a thing for lamps. When we go to the auction, my husband always says…”no more lamps!”. Oh well, he’s not always around when I am bidding! Have a great day, Jean

    • You never know when the need to redecorate a spot will hit and you will need just a certain type of lamp. Think of the gas it saves when you don’t have to go look for one because you already have it.
      Brenda

  25. Teresa Kasner says:

I love the tableaux! The red rooster is perfect for this time of year.. he’d be cute with a gold bow around his neck.

  26. Dewena Callis says:

Nope, wouldn’t have the heart. The little coffee cups look like pastries! Lamp lovers here, both of us, and that’s a pretty one. You know I fell in love with your coffee bar long ago and don’t even drink coffee.

  27. Martha Ellen says:

Brenda, I love what you have done with your coffee bar! The lamp looks great and I adore your red rooster! I have many roosters in my kitchen and that red guy would feel right at home in my kitchen. Love your use of color! ♥

  28. LOVE THE RED ROOSTER!! I would have snatched him up in a minute.
Is that a red one cup Keurig and if it is where do I find one….

    • I shopped around online and got mine at Macys. Free shipping. They’re pretty much the same price everywhere, which is around $100. I love mine. I gave the big one to my daughter and like this one a lot more.
      Brenda

  29. Mary@athomeonthebay says:

Brenda, you did the right thing … saving this rooster from it’s lonely life on a Target shelf. I’m sure this little rooster will be forever grateful. :D
    Love the homey coffee bar.

    • He seems happy. He should have a good life on that coffee bar. Unless he gets knocked off and broken…no, not even going there!
      Brenda

  30. Barbara F. says:

Oh absolutely that little red rooster would be roosting right here with me! So cute. xo

    • When I was a kid we had chickens and a rooster and the rooster always chased me out the gate with the hens’ eggs I had gathered. Mean thing!
      Brenda

  31. Marla @ alwaysnesting.blogspot.com says:

Red Rooster! Heeellloooo. It’s RED. Of course it would make it’s way into my cart. Love your new lamp and love your kitchen. My weakness is lampshades. It’s an addiction but I can’t find a support group so I’m doomed to live with this curse forever. :)

  32. Nana Diana says:

Well, not to be cocky, but I see that rooster has wooed his way right into your heart. He is very sweet. Loving the lamp and redo of your coffee bar- xo Diana

  33. Elaine @ Sunny Simple Life says:

You can never go wrong with a red rooster. Love the way you have those K-Cups. I am telling you you need to pitch a book about cozy decorating.

  34. Annette Tracy says:

I love creamers and this one is so cute all red. Just perfect for you. I’ll have to look for one the next time I’m in Target, but I probably won’t be as lucky as you.

  35. Brenda, you sure are having fun with that coffee bar of yours! Love what you did with storage for your Keurig coffee cups! Red, red and more red. Love all the red accents and roosters grab my attention every time! What an adorable little rooster! The art of arranging is so much fun!

  36. Something tells me that little red rooster will be landing in all sorts of displays throughout the cozy little house in the future. He looks ready for anything! He definitely is a smile producer.

  37. Manuela@a cultivated nest says:

LOL! We have the same lamp. Mine’s in the living room.

Your coffee area looks great. I love the k-cups in the the the tiered piece. It does look festive and organized at the same time :)

  38. Regena Fickes says:

Sometimes roosters just know to whom they belong and do whatever is necessary to get to them. I have several bowls who knew to be on the lookeout for me. Love the blue frame, just kind of pulls everything together.

  39. I am so hoping when I get off work and head to Target that there is one lonely red rooster to fly into my cart. He better come live with me for the rest of our lives!!!

  40. Donna Krobock says:

Oh Brenda…animal adoptions of all sorts are to be encouraged…. So glad that you are doing your part:-) Your newest member has fit quite nicely into your home!
Thanks for my daily dose of a smile which I get everyday when I read your blog!

  41. That Target is a scary place. Stuff flies off the shelves all the time, and not just winged creatures! Their kitchen gadgets know how to fly too. And pillows, who knew?

  42. Oh, that cute little red rooster would definitely end up in my basket. As a matter-of-fact, I may just drop by my local Target to see if one of those little cuties wants to fly into my cart!

  43. I’ve seen that cute little rooster at Target, and love it. I’m hoping to find it in the mustard color…I love your coffee bar! What a great idea. I’m a huge coffee addict, and enjoy creating crafts with a coffee theme. I also have the same coffee sign that you do. I’ve been a follower for sometime, but now am “upgrading” to your email list. Would love for you to pop on by and say hello at http://altered-artworks.blogspot.com

  44. Brenda,
Love the changes – it always makes me happy to move things around. I’m so happy to see the mini bundt cake pan candle tin I sent you is out with all your fun!

  45. I’ve been eyeiing that lamp, too. Believe it or not the ones I bought from Martha Stewart at K Mart years ago aren’t holding up too well in terms of paint. Might be time to donate them and let someone else enjoy fixing them up. Any excuse to buy a new lamp. ;-)

    XO,

    Sheila
