The other day after physical therapy, I decided I had enough energy to go to a small junk store that only has three rows to navigate. Still, I had to sit down a bit. But they were very nice about it. And that is where I found Rooster.
At that time, Rooster had an unfinished frame.
Enter Judy, the painting magician. And Rooster has a cool black frame to strut in.
We changed up my mantel a bit, and added Rooster there. In the barnyard element I have created of late.
Cow needed a friend. And I haven’t been able to find her one. So for now, Rooster will have to do. For $6, plus a $1 for paint, I like Rooster mighty fine.

Oh I am so jealous, what a great drawing! You did good, girl! And a big thanks to Judy, the frame looks great.
I’m terrible even with spray paint. I always end up with drips and spatters. Judy is the queen of painting. She also did my outdoor plant shelf turned coffee table at the same time (but it’s not black). I’ll show it tomorrow probably.
Brenda
I can paint, but I have no patience for spray painting! I always get too close, even though I know better.
He looks perfect there! That is a very well-done drawing!
There were lots of drawings. And they were all under $5. The rooster was framed, so was $6. I wish I could draw half that well!
Brenda
You must have nearly flipped when you spotted him, that is one awesome drawing! Looks perfect with your farmyard mantle!
I thought he was pretty darned handsome!
Brenda
I think that rooster picture, with a little frame change was the find of the day!!!
He’s pretty cute and a sweet addition to your mantle. He does look big enough to tackle that cow if he so desires- xo Diana
Great find.
Love the rooster drawing – so cute!
I like barn animals around the house. I only have a lonely pig. We call him a our house mascot – Elmer. I like the rooster you found. PT? Hope you’re ok!
The rooster looks really good up on the mantel. Your barnyard is coming along nicely!!
Judy

Don’t you just love it when the perfect item pops up out of nowhere? I love your new print…Farmhouse style is so comfortable and informal. Your mantel has added such a charming touch of home, my friend,
I hope you have a good weekend and that your therapy is moving you in a positive direction.

Brenda-
You know I like him! Just what you needed and at a great price too! Love inexpensive artwork. I don’t draw…well. But my daughter does I have a prized (by me) drawing she did as a teen of an IRIS.
I love it.
enjoy your Strutting Rooster. Pat
This is so cute! A diamond in the rough in that shop, huh? When I read your post title, I thought it meant you were having a drawing for a rooster…like a prize! lol! I need to get some sleep!
XO,
Jane
That’s one charming rooster and the perfect companion for your cow. Don’t you just love it when the perfect thing shows up at the optimum moment?

Hi Brenda! Your rooster is the perfect friend for you cow…love your grouping!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Cindy
Your shelf looks so cozy with your rooster and the adorable cow. Love the yellow pitcher and the white platter behind. I always enjoy your arrangements,so artful. I also enjoy the pictures of your gorgeous flowers.
I know hard it is going to p/t. Are you pooped out afterwards?
I had to go for awhile after I’d had my left knee replaced. Not for my knee so much but for lymphedema in left leg from foot up just past my knee. After the surgery my leg blew up like a balloon, had to be rushed to hospital to be kept off leg for awhile and get the fluids out of my leg, was in danger of a blood clot. Had to have leg wrapped all the time, not much fun trying to shower, one foot in tub and one outside, funny to see.
It must be so hard with your foot. Did you have to use a walker to help yourself get around? Hope the p/t is helping and you’ll be able to walk well soon.Glad you were able to get your insurance straightened out so you could have p/t.
Hardest part for me was not being able to drive myself for about 4 months. Hard to even get in and out of the car. I had right knee replaced also but not the problems with it that left one gave me. Ah well all better now. Lymphedema is still with me but have to wear compression stocking. Not bad now but in summer it’s miserable. Happy Weekend Brenda
He is something to crow about!
It’s perfect, and what a great deal for $6.
Hi Brenda,
I like your Rooster drawing….a great find. I’m glad the Cow has some company now.
Have a good day
Barb from Australia
What a lovely find. I love roosters!
Here’s an odd question for you: Do you like seeing your name in print? I get so excited when I get to your page and see the words “by brenda”! I automatically want to read your blog just because we share the same first name. Is that weird, or what?
Cow has a great friend now! What a lovely find and works perfectly where you put it.
I know this is off the subject, but I like that yellow plate above the rooster picture!!
Mr. Rooster is fabulous in his newly painted frame. There is something about the neutrality of black and white that speaks to me. He’s perfect. Glad your cow has a new friend.
Oh I absolutely LOVE this! Such a great drawing. Awesome find!
Perfect frame and color for your rooster picture.
Have a nice weekend…Balisha
You know how our ads show something particular to the viewer? Right now the ad on this page is showing an ad for a political candidate in my district that I despise! Thought you’d get a kick out of that!
Love your vintage Rooster drawing, my friend. Judy did a great job on the frame. Let the Barnyard grow!
Thanks so much for joining in this week.
xo
Claudia
Great treasure hunting!
The black frame is perfect for Mr Rooster! He looks very happy up there with the cow! Glad you got to shop a little bit, always makes us feel good. Hugs, Linda
Hi Brenda!
black was the perfect color choice for that frame. Is that a print or an original sketch? He sure fits right into your cozy little setting.

I luv him! And those sweet “tucks” are adorable too! Sorry I have been MIA, we have been continuing to paint our house trim *yuck* But now it looks so much better that I can’t stop
There’s just nothing like fresh paint to make you fall in love with your house again!
xo, Andrea
I would have snatched that one up too. Looks perfect with the cow and you can’t go wrong with a little black and white I always say. Hope you are doing well and your PT is helping.
Your rooster looks handsome in the black frame sitting next to cow.
Rooster is great, Brenda, and he looks perfect in that vignette. *(I hope he and cow strike up a friendship!)*
He is might good lookin’, Brenda and looks right at home on your mantel.
