Yesterday I took the advice of one of the commenters and went out and got myself some decaf. Just had my first cup of coffee in days. It sure tasted good.
Christmas Eve. Children excited about Christmas Day. Pies baking, eggnog served.
It is my fervent hope that the parents and families of Sandy Hook make it through this normally cheerful holiday with some degree of peace. I hope their loved ones are drawing near, shielding them from the outside world, if only for a few days.
Something so inexplicable. That can change your life in just a few precious minutes. Let us all give at least a few moments of reflection to remember each and every one of those who lost their lives that day, just shy of Christmas. In a place they once felt safe.

Amen.
The teddy bears are really sweet.
I love to bring teddy bears out around Christmas time.
Brenda
Amen!
I second that emotion.

Loving the bears, Brenda. I read a poem that had been posted about the children. How happy they were running around in Heaven and that just 24 hours after the tragedy they didn’t remember any of it. That has helped me so much. My cousin that I lost almost two years ago to H1N1 talked about Heaven all the time. She was looking so forward to going. I asked her if when you went to Heaven did you miss those on Earth. She said there was no sadness in Heaven. I hope that’s true for those babies, I know it isn’t for their families. Maybe some peace will be in their hearts knowing that they have their friends with them. Terribly sad .
I hope that you get to see your grandchildren. I haven’t heard you mention but that’s my wish for you….even a phone call.
Hope the meds start working for your baby.
Merry Christmas, my friend. Thanks for making our world so much “brighter”.
I read that poem. Brought some peace. I just keep thinking about those parents and the other loved ones on this day.

Merry Christmas Brenda. Hope you enjoy the day and find some
joy and peace.
It will be a quiet day. A day of reflection I imagine.

My heart is very near to the families in sorrow at this time. I think about them when I wake up in the middle of the night. I know their pain, and what they are experiencing. Loosing my husband at only 56, so suddenly without warning, leaves an enormous hole in your life and it never goes away. You move on, but when the shock wears off, you are just an empty vessel for a long, long time…going thru the motions of living.
I wish you a wonderful warm Christmas with the loved ones that can be with you.
See you later. Hugs!!!!
I imagine they will be trying to make sense of all this many years down the road. I doubt there’s much sense to be made of it.
Brenda
Amen and prayers for the firefighters killed or wounded this morn in NY. I hope Christmas also brings you peace Brenda. This has been such a year for you and yours! May 2013 bring many rich blessings to you and your fur babies!
I haven’t had the TV on. What has happened now?
Brenda
Have a Merry Christmas Brenda.
Blessings & Bliss

Blessings and Bliss to you.

Nice post. I use half caf but have used the lower acid coffee too. Hope you have a great day tomorrow. I hope to get on the road to Houston around 639 am, hope to miss the rain here and the afternoon snow and that the storms in Houston are not too bad. I guess you all will have a white Christmas for sure. Give your babies a pat for me and a treat. Thanks for posting.
I’d rather be headed south! Not looking forward to snow at all.
Brenda
Hope you’re feeling better and enjoy your coffee. I hope you find peace and hope tomorrow and in the New Year. We love you! Merry Christmas. xo
I enjoyed the coffee. My tummy didn’t. I love you too.
Brenda
Also you and Judy are so lucky to have a flea market to go to on a regular basis. Cant find one near me, just GW and some thrift stores.
We just go to some junk stores. She goes to the Tulsa Fairgrounds flea market.
Brenda
Wishing you a blessed Christmas, Brenda…XO
And I hope the same for you and yours.
Brenda
Merry Christmas Brenda. I hope 2013 is the Happiest for You~!
You and me both!
Brenda
Merry Christmas, Brenda! Wishing you a calm and peaceful Christmas . . . even your “hyper” puppy. Thanks for a year of wonderful posts! It’s been such a pleasure to get to know you through your words and photos. You have triumphed over some serious challenges over the past couple of years (your move to a new home, creating a new life, and your recent broken bones). May your New Year be the of the BEST EVER!!!
Merry Christmas to you, Marcia! I hope your Christmas is extra special.
Brenda
Merry Christmas, sweetie! I can’t thank you enough for the pleasure you bring to me and so many bloggers, and I love the thought provoking issues you come up with that set off a frenzy in blog land. And I agree with you, it’s just incomprehensible the tragedy that has just come over Sandy Hook. I can’t imagine how those families are coping, but I can only hope they know they have the love and support of so many people world wide.
Annette, you know I love ya!

Hi Brenda, I will think of the people of Newtown. It’s been on my mind since that day. I will wish you a blessed Christmas day . May God be good to you. xoxo, Susie
I will think of them too. As families are together, having a meal, opening presents, may they look around them and realize how very lucky they are.
Brenda
Hoping you have a merry and peaceful Christmas my friend. Speaking of coffee, I might just put my feet up with a cuppa and watch the re-runs of Downton Abby today!
That sounds like fun!
Brenda
Hi Brenda…my heart is also heavy today for the families of Sunny Brook and the teachers who lost their lives trying to protect the childrens and for all the children who had to witness it all…we will still get together and do our Christmas festivities but I will be thinking of them all and wishing none of it ever happened…we will bow our heads and pray for them all tonight…God will have his own celebration in Heaven for them I just know he will…Our God loves all the little children of the world~God Bless Them All! Merry Christmas Brenda and to your two sweet little doggies…Wish I was there to give you a big hug and your doggies…((((((Hugs!))))) to you this Christmas Eve and I wish for you the VERY BEST in 2013…Love you lots! Brenda
Thank you for this very thoughtful post. Life is so very short and precious. Time to reflect on the recent tragedy and time to gather close those dear to us and let them know they are loved so very much.
Wishing you peace and comfort in the company of your dear ones. Merry Christmas!
Yes, it is very short and precious. Wishing you peace as well.
Brenda
Beautifully said! Just stopping by this Christmas Eve to wish you Happy Holidays. Pies baking, eggnog…………..sounds merry! Merry Christmas…….Sarah
Brenda stopping by to wish you a merry christmas
Merry Christmas, Brenda. I thought about those families all day as I was preparing Christmas for my own family- xo Diana
Merry Christmas, Brenda! I really enjoy your blog and pictures, as I am also “red addict”. Try to enjoy your day. I am having trouble getting over the sad things happening in our wonderful country lately as well. I am finding participating in 26 acts of kindness to be very therapeutic.
This certainly should be a day of reflection and thanksgiving! Wishing you a joyful, peaceful day and abundant blessings in the new year. Tammy
I’ve been thinking about them all day, and I started the day by playing a video of one precious child singing, “Come Thou Almighty King.” They have instituted a music scholarship in her memory at the college where her father teaches.
In the wee hours of Christmas, I wanted to be sure and drop by and wish you much love on this special day.
XO,
Sheila
It is a very nice Christmas.

The families in Newtown are never out of my thoughts. I can’t even imagine how they must be feeling, but my prayers are with them.
Your teddy bears in the picnic basket is so cute.
Merry Christmas to you, Brenda.
Brenda,
Loving the Teddy Bears. I am a collector of Boyds Bears Figurines that have a book. I also do a mini display on top of our filing cabinet in the library – always a bear theme with real live bears (just kidding – stuffed). They do the most amazing things. They sing, they ski, I have Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus. I have Santa, A Christmas tree, Rudolph and the list goes on and on and on. Each month I change out the display. Our library customers love them. I name them too. Am I sick?
Peace to you and yours in the New Year.
Love,
Diane
