Comments

  1. For whatever reason, I am unable to see the comments on this post but, I can imagine them. I have been shocked at the comments made by people considered to be friends and whose opinions I thought I would know. In too many instances, I was wrong. Very, very wrong. One was so vitriolic, he was was unfriended on Facebook. What I had to keep reminding myself is I have the right to my opinions and beliefs and with strong opinions, sometimes, comes very strong, and very unpleasant rejoinders from people who’ve not felt challenged, previously. As I told one person: my days of sitting quietly by while listening to discussions I heartily disagree with, just to keep the peace, are over. I believe, at least on this matter, those of us who don’t think there is any justification for average people to carry around assault weapons with magazines that hold 30 rounds of ammunition, discharged at 6-7 bullets per second, need to speak up. I believe there are more of us that feel the Second Amendment can be upheld while simultaneously banning the future sales of weapons and ammunition clips that are used by soldiers in arenas of war, than anyone knows. And, I think when we speak up, it threatens and scares them. And I, for one, don’t care if anyone is threatened by my opposition to their position they have the right to amass arsenals in the name of “the right to bear arms.” I really and truly just don’t care. So, stand strong. You are not alone and you can delete the hateful comments and go along on your way. It is my belief that if anyone feels that can speak to me/you in that manner, they aren’t a friend and, really, they should go and find someone else to talk to.
