Baby It’s Cold Outside

Baby It’s Cold Outside

I was not at all excited to have to leave the house today. It’s cold out there! But I got out and went to physical therapy.

Then decided, though my ankle was really hurting, that I’d attempt to find some warm sweats and flannel sleepwear at Target. Shoot, they’ve already gotten rid of much of the winter clothing. Just some duds in clearance.

Don’t you miss the days when we actually could buy for the current season instead of buying swimsuits when we’re bone cold?

I got this little red embroidery hoop done yesterday. I’m trying to get more creative endeavors done this year. Which means something else will suffer while I spend time doing that. Right now it’s my other blog.

How can you not like simple little egg cups? I won these on eBay for a song.

Hey, little white snow birds. Tell them how cold it is around here.

  1. Cold here too but wonderful sunshine! So welcome! Hope the therapy is going well.

  2. Amen! I hate it that as soon as the Christmas sales end the stores bring out summer clothes! Hello!?!?!? It’s only January and there are several more months of cold to go!

  3. I don’t like how you can’t find seasonal clothing within the season you want to wear them either. I think it’s because they have such super good sales before Christmas. There’s nothing left afterwards. Flannel jammies sound good right now. Cold here, too. Although it might get into the 30′s this weekend and hopefully melt a little.

Always love seeing pictures of your treasures!

    Nancy

  4. Howdy,

How are you feeling? Have you tried Wal-Mart for the flannels?
I’ve got 3 blankets on my bed it’s been so cold here. I’m in no hurry for spring. I want to enjoy the winter season.

    Hope you are well.

    Viola

  5. It was so cold here today and I couldn’t believe it when I went to Target and they had the swim suits out! Good heavens, Target is based right here in Minneapolis and they know that we aren’t going to be wearing those for about six months. I’ve been searching for a hat for my son…I guess I’ll have to shop for that in July :)

  6. I know what you mean about not being able to buy seasonal clothing during the current season. Went on a cruise in Nov and could not for the life of me find any shorts anywhere!!! Happy day!!

  7. I was in Target today…and the first thing I saw when I walked in was swim suits! How crazy is that!!
Love the embroidery hoops that you made.

  8. I needed to get out, but putting it off till tomorrow – maybe it will be a couple of degrees warmer. :/

  9. Hi Brenda…How was therapy? I hope you are getting better…soon Spring will arrive and all will be better for you getting into your flowers again…I love the latest hoop you made..did you crochet the flower? Love ya! Carol

  10. Love your little snow birds. Hope your PT is helping you. I remember when I broke my leg, the weather affected it terribly. Stay warm and order some flannel on the internet. ♥

  11. Brenda,
I love your sweet little egg cups, and all your vignettes look so cheerful. I got a good deal on flannel bedding at Target’s website after Christmas last year. May be worth a peek for jammies and sweats? Seems like alot of places had lower stock to begin with this year.
    Stay warm!

    Jeanette

  12. Cute little group of treasures on your shelf. Cozy looking indeed. Sorry to hear you are in pain. Wish we would get a little cool air. Hopefully our time will come. Happy New Year!
    Liz

  13. I’m not surprised the winter items have been put away… seems to work the same way in blogland..
Folks will start showing their easter displays the end of Feb. , if they wait that long lol.

  14. I always love your photography and your “stuff.” In our house we just don’t have a lot of the foo-foo stuff that I would love to have – I just don’t know how to put any of it together but I’d sure love to try!

  15. I’m like you and hate to go out in the cold. Glad to hear that you were able to go to physical therapy though. That should help you recover sooner. A little retail therapy is never a bad idea too. Target is a fun place to shop. I agree that it is strange to see summer clothes for sale in the dead of winter! Our Walmart had a huge selections of scarves, hats, gloves and coats for sale today. I noticed they are well stocked! They also had lots of winter clothes still for sale.

  16. I didn’t move out of the house today but tomorrow is another day! I am embracing some red and white in the cubbies and getting all the Christmas down. I’ve been exhausted so it’s all going slowly but it will be done! Love your new creations!

    hugs, Linda

  17. Been way to cold here as well with snow..I’ll take one or the other but don’t like both….
Love the little creative endeavor…it is so cute…this is a good time to do just that, be creative and stay warm, been moving my hook quite a bit…:)

  18. It is cold here tonight, too, Brenda. 6º with the wind chill. I raced around all day long and now I am freezing and just turned the fireplace on. Hope you had a great day- xoDiana

  19. I was in Target on Wed to see if there were any Christmas mark downs, I needed ribbon for projects next yr and NONE! I think target moves things out fast like very 3 months or so. WM does not. I wonder about penny’s or Sears- not sure if they are close by or not. I got some sweat pants last yr at WM for 3 each after Christmas.

  20. Dear Brenda, so sorry you had to get out in the cold!!! I know what you mean about the stores getting ahead of the season. We were in Okla. on business one early spring &
never expected a HUGH snow storm! It really surprised us, we were able to find a few stores open but absolutely no rubber boots! We tied plastic bags around our shoes. LOL
That helped & when we finally got home to Texas we ordered rubber boots & kept them in the car for years (wouldn’t you know it, NEVER need them again, Ha!)
I know you were happy to get back to your cozy home!
    Hugs, maki

  21. Hello Brenda… a bit sad you had to go out in such freezing weather. I like your cute little eggcups and your hoop art is beautiful.
Have a good day and keep warm

  22. If you have an Academy- they should have sweats

  23. Those egg cups are pretty. It makes me think of how my in-laws, now passed on, used to put their daily pills into egg cups to take at breakfast time. The egg cups looked a bit whimsical filled with pills and sitting beside their cereal bowls and coffee cups. Whimsy is good — I think I might need to look for some egg cups for our morning pills.

  24. Regena Fickes :

Hope your therapy is progressubg. Cold here in Tennessee also. My Pom goes out, stays only the required amount of time and comes right back in. I do miss the days when I could buy clothes in the season. I do not want a sweater when the temp is 101 nor do I want a sleeveless top in 30 degree weather. Oh well, guess I am not a fashionista! Take care of that ankle.

  25. I feel the same way, it is almost impossible to find even a sweater to buy now ~ it is very fustrating.

  26. I hate going into stores right now and seeing summer clothes. I just want to be warm and I was thinking of getting some new flannels for my hospital stay. Oh well. I love the new name of Debra’s party :)

hope your ankle is on the mend.
    Laura

  27. Your cheery colors are perfect for cold weather! (Too cold for me!) I’m with you on buying seasonal stuff. There’s no such thing as “stock” anymore. I hate the hunt. Getting out for therapy sounds like a good thing tho! Stay cozy!

  28. Just love your red cupboard!
    Smiles,
    Carolynn
