Photo Opportunities In The Countryside

500don6

Last week Judy called me and said: “Want to go on an adventure?” This is what she always says when she’s offering to take me out with my camera to parts unknown. And you know me well enough to know I jump at the chance.

First we happened upon these cute critters. They really wanted to be petted.

Here’s Judy accommodating them.

Then we happened upon these cutie pies.

500don31

While we were busy petting and photographing them, out of the blue came this huge creature.

500don35

I have to say, this is my first time photographing a llama.

500don34

The various expressions had me laughing. The ears say it all.

So if you’re looking for a bit of “excitement,” head out to the countryside. You never know what you’ll happen upon.

  1. What great pictures ! Have a great weekend !

  2. Hi. So glad to hear you two were able to spend a pleasant day outside. The photos are delightful. We love to drive through the country in early spring to see the new babies in the pastures with their mommas.

  3. They are all just adorable, but those miniature horses are the best!!! Looks like the llama was getting disturbed with those ears laid back. Glad you and Judy were out and about.

  4. I’m glad to hear the llama didn’t spit on you…. :) What a great adventure! I think I’ll do the same this weekend.

  5. What darling critters! You both were so fortunate to find them and be able to stroke them. What was that old t.v. ad theme song? “Reach out and touch someone.” We all want a hug and some attention. I’m glad that you gave it to them and they to you. A blessed day!

  6. Oh, how fun! I love this post! That llama’s ears talk just like Baby’s ears talk! Especially where the ears were laid back! This same thing happened to us a few weeks ago. I posted photos of a field full of heritage breed cows that we came upon – it was so much fun stopping and seeing them closeup! Thanks for the smiles this morning!

  7. I bet that was fun! You got some great shots. Looks like a pretty area to take pictures. I bet it did you good to get out of the house for a bit too.

  8. I don’t know which is the cutest! I think the ponies but I love all the pics…

  9. oh how fun, don’t you love the ears? hilarious!!!

  10. Great photos, that llama was posing for you! Love it. xo

  11. Well, your first pic of that cute, fuzzy burro just drew me right in. Enjoyed the rest of them, too.

  12. They wer craving some TLC. The Llama might have been a bit jealous. Cute picture. They might have wondered what those big cameras were.

  13. were

  14. Brenda just what you needed. What darling creatures. I swear I could live on a farm because I prefer the company of animals to humans. Except the family of course I will keep them but those miniature horses are so darn adorable.

  15. Too cute! Glad you were able to get out and do some photography. Question: Where do you park for these photo shoots? When I go to the country to take pics, I often find myself stopping in the middle of a (back) road, or pulling just into the driveway of a rich surgeon.

  19. The face on that llama is adorable! You got some great shots! So nice to have a great friend to take you on adventures! I see she had her camera with her too. You met a wonderful friend. It’s good to get out and about. I love country drives. Maybe I’ll get out next week with my camera. Now that I’m retired, I need a new retired friend who enjoys taking drives in the country to stop and pet the creatures and has the patience for me to take some pictures.

  20. Oh, how I love these pictures! Those creatures are just gorgeous. I’ve always wanted a farmette where I could have donkeys and a llama. :-)

  21. Annette Tracy says:

Brenda, that close up of the llama was terrific. Yes, it’s hard to decide which is the cutest, those ponies are adorable! I’m glad you have Judy to go on adventures with. They can be such fun!

  22. That is great!
I was about to say yeah, head out to the country side and take pictures. But then I do that everyday. Maybe, someone like me…should head to the city and take pictures of tall buildings…and transit busses. :) Actually, getting out of your element to take photos–can be fun!
These photos of the Llama– delightful. So glad you shared them with us, Brenda.
    …see later, Pat

  23. HI Brenda, awwww, beautiful pictures. Looks like you had a wonderful day.Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Jen

  24. What a good adventure !

  25. Llama’s spit you know, I was going to mention it, but I noticed that you didn’t seem to encounter that nasty habit of theirs thank goodness.

Great shots, sounds like it was a good time in the sunshine.

Ethel, those are the cutest photos. The donkeys are precious and the llama was just so nosy!, the little horse had a very mod hairdo. Fun!

  29. These are some of my most favorite creatures! the only thing missing was a goat :) Thanks for sharing.

  30. Ute Stults says:

    Great photos. Love the llama.

  31. Great photos! I love the “look” in the animals eyes – like they can see right into your heart.

  32. What cuties! Wish I lived close by so that I could come on one of your adventures. You gals have the right idea of fun!!

    Big Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  33. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. A good friend used to own llamas, we used to go out to visit and end up taking them on walks along the country roads with a simple halter to guide them, we had many fun afternoons ourselves this way.
