Judy’s Cozy Space

Brought to you by Judy @ 20 North Ora

One of my favorite cozy spaces is my front porch.  It is completely covered so I am lucky in that I can put fabric items out there and not worry about them getting weathered.   On this porch, I have a darling light lime green bench that is antiqued down.  It’s more green than the photos show.

A client of mine showed up one Christmas Eve with this as a gift for me.  I have loved this bench and have used it in so many ways.  I love decorating it for the seasons.

In an effort to try and not rush Spring completely, I decided to do a black linen cushion with black and white pillows.  I use the same inserts for them all and just make the envelope style pillow covers so that I can change them out.

So, I ended up with three pillows – one black and white polka dot, one black and white houndstooth check and one black and white stripe with a soft green ball fringe.  I added a pretty bird’s nest and a little ceramic chicken.  And yes, I do leave these out all the time.  Luckily, I have never had anything taken.

I have a 3′ x 7′ window next to my front door.  In front of the window is this darling little antique wooden bench.  My Dad came to the house one day carting this little bench.  He thought I would like it and I did.  It’s been on the front porch for probably 20 years.

It’s a great place to put flower pots and decor.  So, I put out my violas in a McCoy piece of pottery, my tray full of miniature daffodils behind them and some crazy, corky-like plant that I got over a year ago at Ikea in another McCoy piece.  I added a muted Easter Egg wreath to the vignette.

I hope you enjoy my cozy space today.  Thank you for joining in on March’s “Cozy Spaces”.

Don’t forget next Thursday, there will be another “Cozy Space” with Andrea of Opulent Cottage.

  14. Hello Judy!
Your guest hosting is a real treat. Your home is so inviting. I love your pretty white bench all dolled up with fluffy pillows. I enjoy your use of polka dots, checks and black and white. Just look at those little violas. It’s still too early here in the high desert for them to peak their little heads up.
    Blessings to you,
    Carolynn

I love a front porch and enjoy mine as well. Your bench is so charming with the black and white cushions you’ve made. Wish I could sew like that! Every porch looks better with a little color and a seating area. Yours certainly has that.

  19. Pillows are such a great way to change the look of a space. I’ve never done anything to my tiny front porch! I need to get in the swing of things! Happy Spring!

  20. I love it! Love different patterns you used. What a great spot!

  21. I love that bench, Judy! It looks like a great color and I’ll bet it looks wonderful in person with the black of the pillows. The other bench is a great piece, too. I am actually looking for something like that for my entry/foyer. I had no luck at the local antique mart the other day, but they have “new” stuff come in all the time, so hopefully I will find one soon.

  22. A charming spot it is! I love the black and white pillows on the bench.

  23. I just fell in love with the bench. Is it very faithful or could I seduce it to come for some holidays in Brittany, where it would be very welcome?

  24. You’ve got style to spare Judy! I just love the fabric you choose for the pillows, and the benches are just precious!
