An August Project Started & The Pupsters

I'm one wore out mama today. Yesterday I worked on a decoupage/paint project in my kitchen. One of those cost-nearly-nothing projects. I'll be showing it to you when I'm done or farther along.

The pupsters are not at all crazy about this project. Because it takes mom out of her comfy recliner and that means they have no one to sit with. They look kind of sad and lost, don't they?

No amount of explaining that it's just temporary makes them happy. All they know is now there's an odor of paint and Mod Podge in the air.

Yesterday on Welcome Wagon I welcomed a new blogger that had just lost her precious dog. I had written the post the day before, so was not aware of what was going on. I felt bad once I found out. I would have put her on a different Friday had I known she was grieving. Guess I should check all blogs I'm featuring on Friday morning to see what they've posted last.

Anyway, I'm sure she could use some friends consoling her right now, since it's already a done deal. I went over and explained things to her. I'm sure she's crying her eyes out. We all love our pet babies.

What do you have going on this weekend? Any projects? Or just trying to stay out of the heat and relax?

  1. Yesterday I was finishing up a project, taking photos for my blog and we had multiple workman throughout the day on a plumbing issue. Little Lulu informed me that she was quite put out by the lack of attention she was getting by doing her own best to get my attention. I promised her the entire day today.

  2. Hi Brenda! I'm sorry to hear about the blogger loosing her pet. We all have been there. Don't feel badly as you can't know all things. Well, you know almost all things! :) Poor little mistreated pups at your house. They're not spoiled are they? I know that answer. I'll be looking forward to what you're making. You should pop in and see what I made. I made a little Tilda doll!
    Be a sweetie,

  3. I've been working on a quilt that I'm hand quilting. You know it's one of those pick up and put down things. I did order and receive some new fabric to make kitchen curtains. I'm excited about that. The ones in the kitchen now, have been there almost 9 years. I'm tired of looking at them!!

  4. Hi Brenda, I am sure the blogger did not mind. She most likely recieved a lot of posts that were filled with great sympathy for her loss. another blogger I read Joyful Paws lost her fur baby this week too. I know that these ladies are grieving deeply.
I am headed to my sewing room to work on a baby quilt.
    Have a good weekend

  6. Just mowed the grass for the umpteenth time this summer! :) We had downpours the other night and morning and that speeded up the grass growth!
Doing some applique on a pillow and waiting for my youngest son to return my car that he had to borrow. He has some old car that is always having issues, it seems.

  7. Okay, I'm intrigued - what do you have up your sleeve? I'm working on school things I'm afraid - organizing my lesson plan binder, organizing my grade binder, organizing my student profile binder, and so on. Unfortunately I left something I really needed to work on in my classroom. Debating right now if I want to drive the 15 miles or so to go get it or just work on it Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Pups are too cute! I hope all the visitors to your featured blogger will help cheer her up.

  8. Hi Brenda, I will be out in the heat, working in the yard, fighting off the horse flies and the mosquitoes. My (I am so not use to everything being "my" when it all use to be "our") property is a little over an acre and over half of it is surrounded by 5 ft. chain link fencing. My hubby use to use weed killer yearly at the base of that fence. Well, I had planned to do that too, but with all the rain it was impossible to do that and so the weeds grew, and grew some more and now I have a BIG job to do. Using the weed eater is out of the question, the cord gets all messed up in the fence and so the only way is to get down on hands and knees and use the hand clippers. I started last evening and this job is gonna be a real treat. Just getting up and down off of the ground is a feat in itself. Maybe when I am down on my knees I will pray that I survive this!
Have a great weekend, can't wait to see what you are working on now. So sorry for the gal who lost her doggie. Loss of anything that is loved and loves us back is heart breaking.

  9. Can't wait to see your new decoupage project. My hubby is actually home this weekend; he gets one off once every great once in awhile. I did a lot of cooking today - making some dishes and baking cookies and brownies to take to Tim tomorrow - and Brian finished up some small house projects. So tomorrow we'll drive the 1-1/2 hours to go visit Tim in his new place...and we'll not only take him grocery shopping (since he doesn't have a car right now), but we're also taking him to check out a vehicle that someone has for sale another hour's drive away! I dread sitting in a car so much tomorrow, but that's life sometimes. Have a good weekend!

  10. Can't wait to see your project.
I'm finally getting to work on my settee. I spent Saturday and part of Sunday 'deconstructing' it and getting it ready to re-upholster.
I feel as though I'm gaining more confidence as I progress.
Getting to spend some time with my sons 2 children...and waiting, waiting, waiting on the arrival of my daughters baby!
    The anticipation is building!
