Lunch With My Younger Daughter

My nine day old flowers are starting to look a bit raggedy. But I squeeze all I can out of store bought flowers.

First they were in a bigger green pitcher and the bouquet was much fuller. I've had to throw away some of it. I took the flowers out and trimmed the stems some more. Then put them in this smaller blue pitcher.

My daughter who lives in Oklahoma City had to come to Tulsa on business yesterday. So she called and brought lunch over.

She brought Mexican food. I don't see her that often, so I sure enjoyed an hour or so to just catch up with her life.

She shares my love of books, and is actually in our online book club. I had her reading at age four, and she's loved books ever since. I'm very proud of her.

I just want to say how glad I am to be back at Blogger. The community has always been strong here. I feel like I've slipped back into a comfy faded pair of blue jeans. It just fits me better.

And for the first time in a long time, I'm joining Susan at Tablescape Thursday at her blog Between Naps On The Porch.

  1. Glad u were able to lunch with your daughter and catch up. Welcome back to blogger. :)

  2. I've always been with Blogger, and like it! I know you enjoyed your time with your daughter. Your table looks lovely!

  3. It makes me happy to know that you had a nice visit and lunch with your daughter.. I hope it won't be too long until you can do it again.
Your table is beautiful.. You'll just have to get some more flowers to fill your pitcher.. Be good to yourself, Brenda. You deserve it !
Take care. I'm thinking about you.

  8. I'm glad you got some time to spend with your younger daughter. You haven't mentioned her in a long time. Good to hear you're happy with Blogger, too. Hopefully that will mean no more crazy computer problems!

  9. I also cherish time spent with my 2 daughters that have already left home. Like you, I do not see them as often as I would like. My youngest goes off to college in the fall. You have to grab any time together that you can! Welcome back to the world of blogging.

  15. Good Morning, Brenda

That sounds like a lovely lunch:good company, good food. You alway set a pretty table.

As an aside, I noticed yesterday and today that your new posts would show twice, with a slightly different blog name.
    1. COZY LITTLE HOUSE (upper case)
    2. a cozy little house (lower case, with the addition of "a")

I'm not sure if it's sigificant, but thought I'd mention this new development. (I just deleted the second variation from my blogroll.)

Hoping you have a lovely day.

  16. There is something to be said for being comfortable, whether it's an old pair of shoes, comfy jammies, or blogger.

  17. I am so happy that your younger daughter came by for a visit and that you had a great time together. Warms my heart! And welcome back to Blogger!!

    Big Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  21. Beautiful tablescape! Those flowers look like they have a lot of life in them, yet.... pretty impressive. Mom/daughter time is the best! It doesn't matter how long it's been since my mom and I have seen each other, we always seem to pick right back up from where we left off. Hope you have a wonderful day!

  22. Glad you are back. Don't worry we would have all found you somehow. So glad that you got to spend time with your daughter. (((((HUGS))))

  23. I am so happy for you Brenda...nothing makes me happier than when I am spending time with my daughter..hope you had a wonderful time catching up..precious memories for you and her...God Bless :-)

  24. No greater joy than reading. The computer has taken some of that time from me but I am still reading. Glad you had a nice visit. I love Mexican. Can't wait to see your tips. I am going to share the post on my FB page.

  25. Good Morning Brenda, How wonderful to spend time with your daughter. I am always so happy when I am able to spend time with my daughters, which is not very often, as like your daughter they live so far away from me.
We must be kindred spirits because my flowers always start off in a big pitcher or vase, then as the flowers wilt, I rescue the good ones and they get put into a smaller and smaller vase. I have been known to rescue just one stem and place it in a tiny vase.
    Best Wishes

  26. Nothing in the world better than spending time with daughters.....
So glad you are happy with blogging again.:)
