Tips For Accessorizing Your Living Space

Country Living has been bringing us gorgeous decor and inspiration for years. I use to have stacks of their magazines I thumbed through again and again. So these great ideas are from www.countryliving.com.

The top photo is a great example of "anchoring" a piece of furniture. Here they've taken a buffet, or sideboard, and arranged decor on the wall above it so that it looks like it was supposed to be in that very spot.

The lines of the furniture piece is in line with the wall display above it.

Love the platters with the spoons. And the frames.

Here's a sparkly idea of taking white Christmas tree lights and putting them into a clear jar. You don't need to wait around for the holidays to do this.

This is taking embroidery hoop art to new heights. Put bleached or unbleached muslin or some light material in the hoop, and place family photos in the center. You could swap them out when desired. What a cute idea.

What a great idea to use "an illuminating" stamp or graphic, and putting it right where it belongs.

Some people would not have put these framed pretties over the wall paper, but here it seems to work. The leaves are so pretty set off by this type frame. In fact what pulls this look together is the sameness of the frames.

This is a novel idea. Take the shade material off the lamp "innards" and use them for tables. The actual shades are shown off to the right-hand corner. I wouldn't have thought of this in a million years. How about you?

What whimsical happy clock faces! You can purchase the makings to operate a clock at hobby stores or online. The sky is the limit on what you put inside. Love the moon!

Accessories are the icing on the cake in decorating. Shop the house and move things about to give your home a fresh new look.

  3. Those are some creative ideas! I love Country Living Magazine. I forget to check out their website for ideas. I just subscribed to them too during my son's school fund raiser.

  4. I confess. I still have a cupboard full of magazines, mostly Country Living. Of all the magazines I've subscribed to over the years, CL is the one that still gets my heart pumping when it arrives in the mail. I love the first photo and those carved frames would be the perfect partner to my little cuckoo clocks. Lovely images, all of them.

  5. I love that sideboard arrangement. There really are some good design lessons in it. I have a sideboard and it is such a problem child. There are two off-center narrow windows about a yard over it and it has to stay there. I do what I can with it but the eye is still drawn to those windows. Still, I'll study this picture more. And I do regret throwing away the big lampshade frame from an old floor lamp. Who would have thought I could have made a table out of it?

I love these ideas you showed.

  6. These are some very creative ideas. The leaves in the frames really work well with the wallpaper and I would have never thought of the lamp tables! Those must have been some very big lamp shades. I love the idea of white christmas lights in the clear jugs and the lightbulb stamps on the candles are priceless. I have stacks of some of my favorite magazines. I look at them over and over for inspiration. But now that I have blogs to visit, I may have to let some of those issues go. May donate them to my doctors office. How is your asthma doing?

  9. I love the organic look of the leaves in those frames. They have a woodsy look that reminds me of log cabin decor. Also like the vintage looking bells with them too. Pretty ideas!
