  1. And this is what first drew me to your blog. COLOR and I am one of the ones that doesn't know how to sprinkle that color, don't get me wrong I can decorate with the mutes every one that comes to my home says it is warm and so homey, I just want some Color!

  2. I love all color, but find I'm drawn to neutrals when decorating, although you wouldn't know it by looking at my log cabin ;). I usually like to let a house tell me what to do. Sounds strange, I know.

Your cozy little house definitely has called out to you 'I need color' and you have obliged in a lovely way. I love looking at your colorful pictures and happy vignettes Brenda. It makes my day!

  3. I like color too, and inside I like to decorate with a sort of dusty version of red, yellow, blue and green — similar to your indoor colors. Outside, in the garden, I like a lot more variety. I love to see pink, orange, yellow and purple flowers all blooming together. (But one of these days, I'd like to plant a garden of white flowers only. I've heard a white garden is lovely in the moonlight.)

  4. Hi…my name is Robbie and I am a color addict too!! I love my friends who have houses of white and beige and muted tones, but I must have pinks and greens and yellows and reds! Glad that I found your blog…now I am off to snoop around. Have a great day!

  5. I agree that color in decorating expresses an individuals personality and tastes. I love that you decorate your home with so much color. I am a much more muted color person, although I love blue. I reserve the bright colors for my garden and love colors in all of nature. Keep doing what you are doing because it is you and your cozy little cottage is wonderful. xo Laura

  6. Add me to the color list! By the way ~ I am drinking green tea out of my red mug. Can never seem to get enough red.

  7. Yes! It makes me happy too. I visit the paler homes and find them lovely and get inspiration from their styling. I even envy their serenity and think about what I might do if I could do mine over. I have a feeling that I'd begin sneaking color in again.

  8. Brenda
    I love your colorful home!
I like a white kitchen, then I can decorate it with all the different seasons colors.
As much as I love to look at Shabby Chic homes I can't see myself living in one.

  9. I'm a color gal too! You should see my back porch and garden! I'm going for a softer palette in my home now, but there are pops of color. I love red and still have my red couch. I've got touches of red in my kitchen. I adore looking at your colorful home. I also love looking at the neutral and white homes but it doesn't work in my world. My best friend is doing her home all white and many of her accents are duck egg blue and shades of turquoise. You should see how it pops. When I'm at her house I want to go neutral and then when I come home, I always need color.

  10. The all white elegant homes are beautiful but I need some color in my life. You have taught me how to love color in my home and life.

  11. I alway love looking at bright and colorful ways of decorating…I love it's cheerfulness. In my own home though, I really love things simple and plain. It just seems restful to me. If I want some color, I add some flowers or whatnot 🙂

  12. Oh, I am with you. I too am a color girl. I love color. Not choosy at all, and I love to mix and match. I love red just like you, but I am a blue girl also. Karie

    1. Hi Manuela, I know you are a color gal too but I'm interested in seeing your version of shabby chic. Was that before you began blogging?

  13. Yep I am a color girl too. Can never live in a home without it. I would feel something is missing and it would depress me.

  14. I LOVE what you do with color. You have a special talent for it. When I try to add color, it looks too purposeful….yours looks so natural….what am I doing wrong?

  15. You speaka my language, Brenda! I just love viewing all the lovely homes done in shades of white, but when it comes to my own home, I NEED color just like I need my morning cup of coffee! I've got the day off today and guess what I'm doing? Spray painting an old drab white iron bed my favorite shade of green. Happy day!

  16. Brenda, your colours, primarily primaries, are what caught my eye, in my early travels throughout this vast, virtual world, and they are what bring me back, every single day, into a smaller, brighter bloggerhood!

  17. I'm right there with you, girlfriend. I need color. You really know how to draw us in with your colors in your home.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  18. I agree we should do things for ourselves every day that make us smile ! I love your blog,it makes me smile!

  19. I think your colorful home is charming. You've mastered the art of using color in your home! I agree with you that you should use the colors that speak to you and make you smile. I, however, have very little color in my home, but there was a time when I had a lot! I guess, I'm now on the other end of the spectrum. I'm enjoying the change and the serenity it gives me with a house full of boys.

  20. I'm so thankful that you share your beautifully decorated – brightly colored – world with us! It is such a wonderful part of my day…. every day, because I'm addicted to your blog. Haha! I don't think I could live without color…. Hope you are having a wonderful week!

  21. I'm with you girl. The other day I was thinking about my love of red and whether or not it is just a habit. The truth is that something in red is just prettier and happier to me. It makes my heart feel good. Neutral will never happen for me.

  22. Amen sister!!!! I agree 100%!!!! I tell people the same thing about a flower garden, do what you want, it is your place to enjoy. And in gardening and home decor, the ability to change things when you want, is a great part of the fun! I have thought about this same thing all this year. I have even gone one step further, and I believe I am addicted to color….I must have in in my home, garden and even in the fabric I quilt with. I LOVE the beautiful muted color palets of some qulits I see…I even made one last winter…but…it just isn't me…I need color and the more the better!!!!!

  23. Brenda, I love your color!! My house is full of color–my brother said it looked like someone dropped a box of crayons, all happiness and warm, when someone asked him to describe my house. To me that was the greatest compliment. I come to your blog every day to see all the beauty that you show us. You are inspiring in so many ways. Thank you for sharing your view of the world.

  24. I always love seeing your colourful home, Brenda. I love the reds in your kitchen…..the top picture is especially gorgeous!

  25. I always admire the neutral homes of others but then I just can't help but put a bunch of color in mine. I love bright pastels! They make me happy. Then I go in someone's home and everything is muted and elegant and I think…I should do that! But I just can't seem to be able to manage it. It's color for me!

  26. I so agree about color, Brenda. I crave it in my world. I appreciate neutrals, but color makes me happy.

I have missed you. I have been on a longm crazy ride of death, other family members in the hospital, a broken hand and other injuries for me, dismantling 55 years of a person's life in one house, etc. It has been a bittersweet experience, but I think I have come away stronger for it. I will just have to see how my hand holds up to blogging. I took the brace off, with permission, to see if I can type. It is starting to get sore.

    xo,

    Sheila

  27. I completely agree with you on color. I know people have different likes but when i look at all those rooms that have nothing but white in them they lose any personality. they glow and just are boring. color gives life!

  28. Well, that post taught me that I should always reread things twice or maybe three times. I mispaelled "read" and "candles". Need to go have my eyes checked. Just celebreated my birthday and turned 72 – time to have eyes checked again.

  29. Hi Brenda,
I am a September baby and fall has always been my favorite month plus I love fall colors. My house is decorated in fall colors and I tend to wear fall colors.
I ready your blog every day and I love seeing all the different ways you use each item and color to decorate your cozy house.
When I first saw your candels in the muffin tins, I thought something so simple and why didn't I think of using candles in such a unique way.Since we have a small travel trailer/screen porch in Flordia, the first thing I did was search the flea market for a interesting muffin tin and used your idea with the candles. Everytime I see them, I think of you and your unique stlye of decorating. You are one talented lady and your "view" of anything is speical. You always find an interesting way to use anything. Keep up the good work.
I hope you are feeling better and your breathing is normal again.
    Hugs,
    Connie, IN/FL
