Artist Janet Hill's Gorgeous Paintings

I can't recall when I first saw Janet Hill's paintings. But she is enormously talented. And if I could choose any painting by anyone I wanted, I would choose one of hers.

Here's what it says on her blog's About page:

Janet’s work is both elegant, yet whimsical, often with an underlying narrative that instantly captures the imagination.  Her painting style evokes a sense of nostalgia,  timeless beauty, mystery, humour, and comfort.  Her work is displayed in private collections throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Some of Janet’s corporate clients include Tiffany & Co., Hallmark UK, and Harper Collins. Her work has also been featured in Matchbook Magazine, Design Sponge, This Is Glamorous, The Neo-Traditionalist, and Oh Joy!  Janet lives in the beautiful city of Stratford, Ontario, Canada.  She paints in a small in-house studio where she lives with her husband John, and their cat and dog.

I have always been most impressed with her kitchen paintings. Not sure quite why.

Most of all, I love her usage of color. It mesmerizes me.

She frequently has pets of all varieties in her paintings, which I also like.

Her subjects often look like they're from the fifties to me.

I got these images from her blog:

You can buy her paintings at her Etsy shop here. And if you Google her name, you can find them many other places.

Which one is your favorite?

  1. Brenda, I am so glad you posted this. I have seen her prints before but never knew her name. Looking at her Etsy shop, I noticed she uses a lot of red, aqua and cream. The perfect color combo. I would be happy with the prints! I love when I can have something like her art instead of some piece of mass art bought at a retail store.

  2. Janet is a wonderful artist.. I think my favorite is the one of the flowers and the chipmunk but they are all very nice and colorful. Thanks for sharing her art.

  3. I like these too--a nice retro feel to them.

  4. I don't think I can narrow it down to just one favorite. I love the retro feel to her paintings! When I saw the first painting, I thought it was a 1950's magazine ad. I work with a woman whose daughter had a neighborhood dog party inside their house while we were working, so the last painting would be perfect for her!
