It's Clouds Illusions I Recall...

For some reason, I woke up this morning with these lyrics in my head. I don't know why.  But I've been humming the tune all day.

     Both Sides Now

Bows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's cloud's illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
When every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughin' when you go
And if you care don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say, "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
But something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

  1. Great song! The Lyrics are a poem and very appropriate today.

  2. "Moons and Junes and feeling proud
to say I Love You right out loud..." that's my fav line and I often sing this song.
May you and the furry ones have a great New Year.

  3. Do you ever ponder why we wake up thinking of a song that maybe we haven't heard of in years, but all of a sudden it replays itself through our head. Must be some reason. At least you picked a beautiful one.

  4. Some more gorgeous pictures!!! Love each one! You know what, your blog still never updates on my blog roll, I've learned to just check on you daily without it. Frustrating, don't know why but it must be on my end if no one else is saying they have the problem. Well, you know I'll be around so it's okay ...

    Happy New Year ~ Mary

  5. That is one of my favorite old songs, Brenda...and it always leaves me with a lump in my throat for days gone by. I love your photos here! Happy New Year, my friend- xo Diana

  6. One of my favorite songs. I saw Judy Collins in concert my freshman year in college right after this was released and I've just loved this song. Happy and healthy 2014.

  7. I feel the same way. I sure really dont know life at all. I remember when this came out. I memorized it and sang it all the time. Even in high school I felt the same way as I do now. I really dont know life at all. Never did and never will. I hear ya friend. Stay warm.

  8. This is one of my favourite songs. It reminds me of my childhood. I am sure I will be humming or even singing it loudly the whole day :)

  9. I love this song and now I'll have it running through my head, too. Beautiful photos, Brenda. Stay warm...we're getting snow as I write this. Happy New Year!

  10. Real friends are rare...but we ALL go through so many stages of life....real friends stick with us through every change.

  11. Such a great song, it is in my top ten list. I always hit repeat when I play that song. In the DVD "Love Actually" they feature that song. Have a great day - I need to get things done today - I have been slacking off and now it is time to get my bucket list done.

  12. Do you ever wonder what prompted Joni to write this song? What events took place in her life that caused her to pen these words? It's a sad song I think. Beautiful and real, too. I love your photographs, and how you intertwined them with the lyrics. I hope you have a cloudless day, Brenda.

  13. I have great memories to go along with this great song. Thanks!

  14. One of my favorites, Brenda.

    All the best in 2014!

  15. I've always loved that song. Beautiful photos!

  16. Thank you Brenda for sharing that special song and the lovely pictures! God bless you and those sweet puppies in this new year. Carolyn from Florida( it is very cold in Northwest Florida right now and I don't like it!!!!)

  17. I think we all have fond memories of this song...and I love your pretty photos, too! Hope you are warm and snug tonight! Take care!

  18. Brenda, your photographs, as always, are amazing, and I absolutely love that song. I have a Joni Mitchell CD in my car that has that song, and more recently it reminds me of the movie Love Actually what with the Christmas season and all. Wishing you a very Happy New Year,
