Lampshade Contest Entry

I was asked to participate in the Lamps.com 2nd DIY Lampshade Design Challenge. I was sent a plain white shade and told to be creative.

It is different all the way around, so I will be showing you as I turn the lampshade for your viewing.

It was created with old vintage linens and lace, embroidery pieces, a satiny glove, buttons, and yo-yos.

All pieces were hot-glued on. I decided to put it on my rather modern bedside lamp. I thought the textures against the modern lamp was pretty. And also because it just happened to fit!

There will be a vote to see who wins. And a prize for the winner. There will also be a giveaway
for one of the winner's readers, a $100 gift card.

If you would like to vote for my lampshade, please go here to vote.

  2. I love it! I am going over to vote for you right now and view the others. I have a very plain shade that I've been wanting to do something with and am going for ideas!! About yesterdays Java talk... I just got around to reading the posts and had planned to mention that Walmart sells caskets online. I saw that someone else had already mentioned it. I accidentally found this out when I was reviewing their returns policy and the returns policy for 'funeral items' popped up. My friends and I had a looong and funny conversation on facebook about that!

  12. The shade is fantastic! Were those some of the yo/yo's I sent you? I don't have a favorite side either, it's all so pretty. I love the base. Is it one that you had? You've done lampshades before, I think, right? I voted already. Hope you win! It looks great in your bedroom w/the quilt on the wall. Great use of old doilies and things of long ago.
