Still Waiting & Java Talk Topic For Tomorrow

You'll probably be surprised to find out that I STILL do not have my new washer hooked up. I tried through the weekend, got to a certain point, and got stuck.

So first thing Monday morning, I called an electrician I'd used and asked him plumber he'd refer. He gave me the name and I made an appointment for yesterday afternoon.

A no show. I hate those.

So I called later that afternoon and got voice mail. Left a message, and never got a response.

Okay, they're down the drain.

I called another first thing this morning, and they said it would be tomorrow. As pricey as these plumbers are, they are either in high demand or they have disrespectful people working for them.

Where has taking care of the customer gone to? How do businesses stay in business if they don't take CARE of business.

It's a puzzle to me.

For those of you who watch The Blacklist, I thought James Spader showed a wealth of wonderful expressions last night. I swear, it's like reading a book just watching his facial features!

Until this show, I had never really thought of James Spader as such a terrific actor. But I'm sold now. This show would be nothing without him.

And now we have to wait till next season for more. Who do you think is Lizzie's father? Do you think he's still alive? I don't think Tom is dead either. I heard he would be back next season. Seems kind of odd, but then I'm not a producer.

Oddly enough, it got cold and we had thunderstorms last night. I had to turn the heat back on. Never seen weather this back and forth.

Tomorrow on Java Talk, we shall be talking about what is growing in our gardens. If you're in a cold region and haven't been able to garden yet, what do you plan to plant in your gardens? Do you prefer gardens in the ground or container gardening? And if you just flat don't care for gardening at all, what kind of flowers do you most like receiving or picking up a bouquet of?

Should be something there for everyone. Remember, wait until in the morning when I post. Be thinking gardening as you're going to sleep tonight. Maybe something will bloom in your dreams.

  1. That's terrible about the plumber not showing up! Anyways, I've had good luck with repair people recommended by the appliance part supply store. They see repair people all the time. I'm thinking someone that can hook up a washer could get yours going. Good luck!

    1. I don't know either. I'm waiting now and they just said after 9 a.m., because I didn't want them coming at 8 a.m. when I'm typically doing my yoga stretching.

  2. Hope the next plumber shows up and helps. Good help is hard to find. Love James Spader and I think I'll have to watch last night's show again.....so good. He truly is amazing.

    1. I definitely plan to find it online and watch it again! There were some things I apparently missed. Like his burned back!

  3. How incredibly frustrating that the plumber never even showed up. Very maddening! I really hope you will have better luck tomorrow.

I'm so sad that The Blacklist is over for the season. But what a season finale! I was completely spellbound until the very end. And what an ending, showing Red's burn scarred back! I do think he is her father, even though it seems obvious. I also think Tom is still alive.

    1. As per my email, I managed to miss that. And I thought I was really watching very carefully. So I'll find it online and watch again. And may again. Again and again!

  4. Can Judy recommend someone? Very frustrating, isn't it? An appliance store could hook it up, too, cheaper than maybe a plumber, as they do it all the time. I know, it's just you didn't buy it thru a local store. Tom didn't die, he'll be back. Did you see the Mustang commercial? Red's facial features were amazing. The shocker for me was his back at the end! Going to be a long lonely summer without Red and Tom!

    1. If you can believe this, Judy's lived in her house 45 years and hasn't needed a plumber! Is there good karma floating over that house or what!

  5. Darn plumber!! Sure hope the other one shows up tomorrow!! I'm ready for the washer/dryer to rock 'n roll!

  6. Don't know if you've ever tried it but I've had excellent, excellent results from www.homeadvisor.com You don't have to pay, they have references from customers and they screen their businesses. Good luck!

  10. Good luck with the plumber - so frustrating. Do you know anyone who lives near you who is part of Angie's List? I am but it is localized so I only have recommendations in my area. If and when you find a good one - keep him. I guess the demand is so much greater than the number of plumbers out there they think they can call the shots. Watch what he does and label everything so if it ever has to be unhooked you can hook it back yourself. Talk to you tomorrow! I am dreaming of gardens!

  11. The EXACT same thing happened to us this week. We had a plumber no-show, too. Supposedly, he's coming in the morning. We shall see!

    1. What is it with these people? They charge exorbitant fees and they don't even show up to work to get it.

  12. The same thing happened to us on our deck, say their coming, don't come, say their coming, don't come. I hope they finally show up. No one other than contractors could get away with this. It's been rainy here the last few days, and tonight dropping to 40. Crazy, but it's only early May.

    1. The worst for me have been handymen. They won't show for a week. And you need them to do something desperately so you're kind of at their mercy.

  13. Good luck on the plummer. I think Red is her father. When he told her that her father died in the fire he was talking about himself. When someone goes through something horrible in a way they do die and reborn into a different person. I also think Tom is alive. I heard that the show will be back in the fall for two months and than go on hiatus til early Febuary.

  14. Okay, now I'm back to thinking Red is Lizzie's father even though it seems too obvious as I've said before. I wonder when we will find out.

  15. Hi Brenda,
I don't watch The Blacklist, but my mom does. After hearing her weekly updates and reading your blog, I must start watching (provided I can find the whole season somewhere or maybe it will be on again as reruns?). I remember years ago needing a new roof. I must have called half a dozen roofing companies and none of them ever called me back. You would think that with the money to be made with these home improvements, repairs, etc. that at least someone would call you! I hope you get your washer/dryer hooked up soon! As always, your blog is beautiful and is one of my favorite places to visit everyday! xo

  16. They have definitely taken the service out of service people. IF they can't make it for some reason they should give you a call to reschedule. I definitely think Tom is still alive. He wasn't there when they went in to get the bodies. My sister said she saw a bullet proof vest on him. I thought James Spader (who is an amazing actor) was her father, but now I have no idea. SIGH!!! The fall is a long time away. xo Laura

  17. I know it's a pain to have to try and do something you're not familiar with, but could you go step by step and look on the net for terms you're not familiar with and maybe do it yourself? Sometimes I look online for technical stuff i don't get and go step by step. good luck with whatever you choose to do.

  18. Brenda, does your apartment complex have a maintenance man? If the hookup is not going to be complicated, maybe the apt. Manager would let you use him for a small fee.

  19. Ugh! Welcome to my world :(. I have to admit one of the things I liked about renting recently was everything was taken care of by the landlord. Of course, we were lucky to have a really good one who was responsive.

You've gotten some good suggestions. Good luck!

  20. Snow in Colorado the last few days. It was down around 28 last night. The weather is strange this Spring. I planted some flowers a few weeks ago and lost some of them.

I usually plant about 18 tomato plants, but still have lots of them left canned in the pantry. I will only plant 12 this year. Also, bell peppers, chili peppers, corn and squash. I am going to try and get some potatoes going even though it is late for them. Life has been a bit busy lately and the rest of the planting has been neglected. I am glad, though because of such cold temperatures here. I hope to get my garden going this weekend.

  21. I held my breath a lot during this episode! At one point I thought Berlin was her father,,,,, then when Red took his shirt off and his back was so badly scarred from burns, I was back thinking it is Red. Tom is certainly alive, and I so badly want him to be a double agent of sorts so he can actually be a good guy in some way. I also want to know what Tom whispered to Lizzie. Oh, the writers of that show!! I hope they don't lose a single bit of the greatness of the series in Season 2.
I hope the plumber shows up. Yesterday I thought of you in the middle of the day and was thinking you were probably busy washing clothes. That really stinks that they didn't bother to show!!

  22. Even a handyman could hook that up. Dang I hate relying on people for help. I'm sure John did everything for Judy, same as my husband used to do for me. With my husband sick, I have to line everything up. I needed a small door built to go under the house. We have a crawl space, the one there was deteriorating. I asked my AC guy if he could recommend someone, he did, a contractor at that, the guy shows up and takes the measurements, never calls me back! I asked my AC guy what happened to him, and he told me the guy was intimidated by it! Gee, a small like 1/2 door! Glad I never hired him for anything really big!

  23. Hi Brenda:
I am so in love with the Black List. James Spader is such a great actor, I fell in love with him on Boston Legal.
I have to say I have said to my husband from the beginning that Red is her father. I still believe he is. I too believe Tom is still alive. I can't wait till next season.
I sure do hope the plumber shows up. I don't get how someone can skip an appointment and not call to say they won't be coming. Always surprises me how people don't care the inconvenience they put other people through.

  24. Oh! Living without a washer is the worst! Except for a no-show! So disrespectful. That sucks. I hope you are able to get it fixed soon.

I am not watching The Black List. I will need to check it out!
