Create More Storage Space In Your Home

How to Make the Most of Storage Space in Your Home

Whether your home is 500 square feet or 5,000, anyone can benefit from a little extra storage space. From pantry organizers to shoe racks, there are a lot of simple and inexpensive ways to give your home a much needed storage boost.

Here’s how to make the most of your space with the right organizational accessories.

Kitchen

Kitchen clutter can get overwhelming, especially if you have limited cabinetry. Kitchens without pantries present additional challenges.

If you do have a pantry, you can take a load off your cabinets by bringing in pantry organizers to increase capacity.

Stacking food vertically with these organizational tools is often a better use of space than simply relying on pre-existing shelves alone. You can also add extra shelving to cabinets and even drawers to arrange flatware, plating, and utensils.

If you have limited counter top space, you can bring in a mobile or stationary workstation. Most have a top shelf that’s perfect for chopping up food and additional wire shelves below that for storage.

Closet

Closets are another part of the house that fill up quickly. Even small closets, however, are often capable of holding much more than meets the eye. Sometimes the original arrangement of shelving doesn’t make the best use of vertical spaces.

Wire shelving and shoe racks are great solutions. Shoe racks allow you to stack one pair on top of another vertically so your shoe collection doesn’t sprawl across the closet floor. Wire shelving gives new places for folded clothes to rest.

Garment racks and organizers offer new places to hang clothes without compromising on neatness. With the right accessories, you can easily double the capacity of your closet without paying for expensive renovation.

Bathroom

Another room in the house that requires ample storage space is the bathroom. Towels, toiletries, cosmetics, and appliances all need places to go.

Even if you don’t have a lot of cabinet or counter top area, the right accessories can turn a small bathroom into a significant storage space. If you do have cabinets or drawers, adding an expandable organizer will help you make the most of limited space.

If you don’t have cabinets, look to empty walls as opportunities to arrange items vertically with wire shelving.

You can also use stylish woven storage baskets to hide and organize smaller items or use them as a place to keep towels.

Laundry

The laundry room is a great place to boost storage capacity. Instead of dirty clothes strewn across the floor, use a laundry sorter or hamper basket to minimize mess and maximize floor space.

Some laundry sorters are even fitted with additional shelving and a metal rod to hang clean clothes. If your family or guests leave their shoes in the laundry room, bringing in a simple wire or bamboo shoe rack is a chic way to alleviate clutter and make the most of vertical space.

Office

If you have a work space in your home that doesn’t leave a lot of storage room to work with, there are plenty of simple accessories available to help.

Expandable drawer organizers let you arrange different layers of office supplies. Desk and file organizers can arrange paper products neatly. Mobile utility carts can get the job done with cabinet space is limited.

With these simple and inexpensive accessories, you can turn the smallest spaces in your home into the biggest organizational opportunities.
