Simple Days Of Solitude
The nights start out fairly warm. But by morning, there is a chill in the air.
The sun is shining now, after many days of rain. I see a squirrel cavorting around the patio. And the sound of bird wings flapping.
I would be willing to bet that this is the bird flapping its wings. Such a pretty bird, the mourning dove. With such a romantic name.
The birds fly around the patio. Lighting here or there. The Bewick wren is notorious for this. Flitting about as if uncertain where to land.
I sit here and watch them out the patio doors. My window into the world of nature. Create a world for them, and they will come. To the feeders and bird baths. To sit on the tables and eye the scenery.
Then this is where I do the main work on this blog. Where I can elevate my ankle. Right now I'm at the desktop in the other room, where I download photos.
As the weather cools off during the day, I plan to spend time out here. Gazing at all that I have planted in my six months here. Enjoying the breeze and the birds.
I live a simple life. Living quietly. Making the most from each day I am given. Paradise to me.
And now, as every morning, it is time for breakfast and coffee. Which I will sip slowly, savoring the warmth and the taste. I like to mix half caffeinated and half decaffeinated.
I've learned that simple living is the best kind of living. That it makes you cherish each day. Live it to the fullest. Even if it's just staying home and enjoying the solitude.
