I’ve found five fun button crafts that might inspire you to create your own project with buttons.
I have always had this thing for buttons. Ever since I was a little girl and watched my granny sewing on the old treadle sewing machine.
I kept a large jar of buttons for my granddaughter to play with when she was young. She would sit at a table and play with those buttons for hours.
Buttons always look so beautiful in glass jars.
If you have your own button jar, let’s see what kinds of button crafts we can create.
1. Button Bouquets:
I just love button bouquets. Apparently many brides choose button bouquets because they are a forever remembrance of their wedding day.
This button craft/art is fairly self-explanatory. Just layer the buttons one on top of the other.
You can secure them with thread or use a hot glue gun. Then just add them to a vase and put them on display!
This cute little button bouquet is made with scrap paper and a flower hole punch. Buttons were added and glued to the paper.
This little button bouquet in a vintage salt shaker is adorable. It would look great on a shelf in a sewing room, or about anywhere you’d like to put a small decorative item.
You can find the directions for this button bouquet here.
2. Button Necklaces:
For those of you who like unique jewelry, buttons could be a cheap way to make your own necklace.
The photo above shows fabric-covered buttons. You could use any fabric you desire. The final result is just beautiful.
You can find the tutorial for these fabric-covered buttons here.
3. Button Pillows:
What could be prettier than a pillow with a heart filled with buttons?
This pillow has a vintage look because of the color of buttons that were chosen for the project.
Below is another button pillow, but this one is decorated for the Christmas season.
This holiday-inspired pillow with buttons would be a great DIY to create for your home at Christmastime. You can find the instructions here.
4. Button Bookmarks:
I’m always losing bookmarks, and this would be a perfect rainy day craft for me to make.
The instructions to make these adorable button bookmarks can be found here.
This is a more whimsical version of a button bookmark. It would be a fun project to do with children. You can find it here.
5. Button Wall Art:

Wouldn’t this DIY of a chicken be cute hanging on a kitchen wall? This project’s instructions can be found here.
This work of button art is simply stunning! If you like the boho style, you might check out this project.
There are so many crafts you can create with buttons. From home decor to jewelry, the possibilities are endless.
I love buttons, Brenda! And I always think I have way too many but seeing these projects I think I may not have enough! The button bouquets really appeal to me. Might try one of those. Thanks for sharing the ideas!
Such adorable ideas. I’m not a terrifically skilled crafter, but these seem like things I could do!
What fun. The chicken is just too cute.
Cute!
I loved the button pillows. The fact that buttons come in all shapes, sizes and colors really make your creative options endless. I really liked the fabric covered ones made into a necklace. The zebras are adorable. You can make that with anything… dogs, cats, flowers, etc. I’m not sure I’d want my entire bridal bouquet to be made from buttons, but I’ve seem some stunning bouquets where they used crystals as little accents for some pizzazz and sparkle. I’m sure they make sparkly buttons too. Lots of fun ideas for sure.
Great post….I just saw a project where this lady did her kitchen backsplash with buttons. used them like tile…it was so cute!
I really liked the little button bouquets – and that little vase! Also the chicken picture! All so cute.
Who knew buttons could be so cute?
This reminded me my father-in-law often uses the expression “cute as a button!”
