Purple In The Garden

Decorating outside, to me, is just as important as decorating inside. I love to try new colors, and right now, purple is one of my favorite looks outdoors.

Look at this one. So pretty. With vines creeping and climbing around the shutters.

And purple flowers. I LOVE shades of purple and lavender in the garden.

And it's even better if we're talking about those low-maintenance perennials that come back year after year like this one from Landscape Design Advice.

How about this purple bench project by the truly talented Creative Country Mom?

I adore the purple alliums in this garden. I've got to plant some of these beauties.

A deeply rich purple door. Paint an old door a favorite color and prop it outdoors for a truly whimsical look.

A border of purple mums in the fall. Surrounding purple and green kale. A beautiful sight.

What are your favorite colors in the garden this year?

I'll be back with Tweak It this afternoon.

  1. I've got to say my favourite colors are always lime green, chartreuse that shocking limey greenish yellow tinged shade. Up here in the Okanagan there is soooo much brown, and blah that you need a touch of contrast. And I"m in the garden center always searching for that color. Love the purple touches, every garden needs a few bright spots and those do work well.

  6. the purple in the gardens is just breathtaking...of all of it, I'd love to do the door. so magical...looks like it could lead either to a Secret Garden or Alice in Wonderland.

  7. A friend of mine has an amazing garden with an evolving colour palatte. Earlier in the season his garden is a riot of colour but as the dog days of summer arrive, his garden cools down to the purples blues and whites. He says he finds it much more visually cooling in high temps. I don't have the creativity he has. It's pink and white for me. Your photos have made me want an old door to place up against my hedge. Purple, of course, now.

  12. Those purple garden pieces are beautiful. I have noticed an unintentional red/yellow trend in my garden this year... BUT - I've painted a patio table a bright aqua color, and I'm hoping to add other bright elements... no real plan, just adding as I go...
