The Red Painted Cottage showed many ways to decorate for fall.

Just Loving Blue

There's something so serene about the color blue. Maybe because it's the color of the sky, or the ocean.

This collection of blue bottles: stunning.

I've Begun Fall Decorating

This miserable, muggy heat has kept me from going out much. So what have I been doing instead? Bringing out the fall stuff.

This is my kitchen table. Well, my only table if you want to be exact.

Best Bedding For August

I hate to try and go to sleep when I'm hot. And having the overhead fan running makes me cough.

My Review Of My Toshiba 10 Days Later

I have now had my new Toshiba Satellite laptop for ten days now. Thought I'd let you know what I think.

I was wondering if getting Windows 10 would be a mistake, how I would adjust to it. Actually, it didn't really faze me. I like it. Seems to me there are less clicks I have to make. I haven't had any problems with it.

What do I like most about this computer? The back-lit keys and the keyboard. There is just something melodious about the keyboard. Very fluid to type on.

Many Colors Can Happily Co-Exist In One Space

I've been bringing out my quilts. I know, sounds silly in this heat. But I just needed to see them. To be surrounded by them.

10 Fall Inspiration Ideas

I'm ready for some fall inspiration. I'm having a fall blogger home tour next month, so maybe this will get us off to a good start.

Life After Granite Counter Tops...

I have not yet thanked you. But I will.

My life in Texas...which so many of you have not seen due to the losing of all my posts prior to summer 2013...

Which Computer I Picked & Voting Begins

This is the computer I chose, and I love it so far. It is a 15.6 inch Toshiba Satellite L50-C Pro Series.

Are you old enough to remember the tie-dying era? Well, this is the prettiest tie-dye project I've yet to see by Chatfield Court.

10 Cool Crafts For Fall

It is HOT out there. I looked outside under the trees, where it gets the most shade, and it was 112! Too hot to be outside. So I'm staying in as much as I can.

So maybe this is a good time to make crafts you've been wanting to try.

Blogging Entrepreneurs: Photographer Georgianna Lane

This is a new series I'm starting. I am planning to interview female entrepreneurs who also happen to be bloggers.

Today's interview is with Georgianna Lane. (Isn't that a beautiful name?) Here is her blog

August...

Getting Bedroom Ideas...

Now that I've been changing up my living space, I want to do the same in my bedroom. I've started, but I'm looking for a bit of inspiration before I proceed.

So off I go to Pinterest to see what I can find. Red and blue, country or cottage, is what I'm looking for.

I love all the colors I've been painting around here the last few seasons. But I'm missing my reds and blues. Getting a little tired of the turquoise blue. May have to go darker.

Well, like they say, it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind.

I can see that painting is in my near future...

It Started With A Dresser...

Saturday I was on my way to see Andrew. I'd stopped at McDonalds to get caramel iced coffee, a $1.69 treat I give myself sometimes when I go out in the morning. Doesn't get much cheaper than that!

Anyway, I realized I was still far too early. I drove along at a slow pace. It's around 10 miles, I guess, from my place to theirs. And then I saw a garage sale sign on the right-hand side of the road.

It's been ages since I stopped at one. But then...I was early and this would eat up some time.

As soon as I parked, I saw it. What I'd call a sage green dresser, sitting sloped in the grass. I've been looking for a dresser that doesn't cost an arm and a leg (or over $100) for nearly four years!

Flavored Iced Teas For Hot Summer Days

I love iced tea. I never managed to take a liking to hot tea. But iced tea just calls my name.

That Thing We Call Love

It's a funny thing, love.

It comes and goes in your life. When you find love, you feel like a bird spreading its wings and soaring over the earth. You are buoyant. Everything seems magical. Life could not be better.

And when love goes, you are crushed. Heartbroken. Bereft. Inconsolable. The bright light that shone down on you so brightly and with such intensity flickers and then fades.

Mostly, I Remember The Fireflies

More than anything else, I seem to remember the fireflies. Except back then I knew them as "lightning bugs."

In the summer, as the light dimmed into darkness, they flew around the yard, blinking intermittently. I was fascinated by them. Little beacons of lights. So tiny and magical.

Creating Vignette Displays

Vignettes can make a space. The putting together of decorative elements makes a huge difference in the way a room comes together.
