August...

"Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance, and none can say why some fields will blossom, while others lay brown beneath the August sun." - Kent Nerburn

Rain...

...and sun.

And long August days

Where we are weary of summer...

But not yet ready for the cold of winter

...And the roses bloom.

  1. I guess it's a great reminder to savor the last month of summer since cold temps will soon be around the corner! I won't miss the super hot sticky weather, but I will miss the warmth of the sunshine.

  2. Gorgeous photos as usual, Brenda. I am not weary of summer yet, my toes are just warming up from winter's bite. I am happy to linger here a bit longer!

  6. As I've gotten older I've learned to work along with the seasons.. I save indoor projects for the hottest and coldest times of the year..
I do well in cold weather as long as the sun will shine:) on grey days I grab a cozy quilt , snuggle down and read or watch a favorite tv program or movie.
Life is good when one finds great pleasure in simple things..

  7. Not much of a summer girl, living in Phoenix. But boy, some people thrive in it. So like the readers who have to deal with the winter weather, I work on indoor projects. A beautiful post Brenda, reminding us everyday that we should be grateful. Life is precious. Kathleen in Az

  9. I'm with Kathleen. Although I'm not in Phoenix, it's still too hot for me. But with that said, I never take one single day for granted, so even though I grumble, I'm still happy to be here ;)

Beautiful pictures and words, my friend.

  10. That is wonderful advice to be gentle with ourself and with others, Brenda. We rarely know what another person is going through and we would do well to just assume that the other person is facing their own troubles and be kind.

May the month of August be kind to you,
    Dewena

  11. Thank you Brenda for the lovely words....I just shared them with my daughter and 14 year old grandson. We live in northwest Florida and August is tough here....Love the sunshine but oh the humidity gets us. However the winters are great, with only a few weeks of light freezes. So many people here, including us, travel in October to the cool weather and incredible colors of the Blue Ridge mountains of North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Blessings to all, Carolyn

  14. Great quote. I've heard triple digit heat is coming this week. Oh well. We take the good with the bad.

  19. Beautiful post! Weary of summer ending describes how I feel during the month of August. Summer is my favorite season and I'm not a fan of fall, despite all its beautiful colors. I have to remind myself to cherish the remaining weeks rather than dwell on what's to come.
