Blogging Entrepreneurs: Photographer Georgianna Lane

This is a new series I'm starting. I am planning to interview female entrepreneurs who also happen to be bloggers.

Today's interview is with Georgianna Lane. (Isn't that a beautiful name?) Here is her blog

1. How did you come to be in the business you're in now?

I’m a full-time, self-employed photographer. I came to be in this business after I left a corporate marketing job in Hollywood and moved to Seattle.

I’ve always been involved in photography, either taking photographs or directing photo shoots, editing photos for publications, etc. And it was a natural progression, but also a conscious decision to start my own business when I left the 9-5 work situation.

The day I drove away from that job, I vowed never to work for anyone else again! I’d been thinking for years about starting my own stock photo company so began working on that as soon as I left LA. I never looked back and it’s been ten years now.

2. Was it something you naturally gravitated toward, or more serendipitous?

I would say it was both natural and based on conscious decision, but there are always elements of serendipity that add interest and surprise to life!

3. What did you do to bring your career to fruition? Classes, workshops, or just life experience?

It’s very important to be well-trained and experienced in whatever field you choose to pursue. Competition is always there and I believe one should strive to be the very best they can be in any endeavor.

So, I’ve taken many classes and courses in photography but also worked in studios with top pros and practiced a great deal on my own. I challenge myself every day to learn new techniques and gain more experience.

4. What do you find most satisfying about your work?

Being able to do something that I love – creating images that other people enjoy and want to have in their environment.

And making a living in a creative field, which can be challenging but is also very rewarding.

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

That’s a good question! Still traveling the world and creating, and having time to write books and probably teach workshops and hopefully inspire other artists.

I would love to learn to paint but that may have to wait awhile!

And I really want to grow more roses.

I took the liberty, after asking Georgianna of course, of taking some photos from her blog to show you. Enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed the interview with Georgianna. And the tour of her phenomenal photographs I chose to show you.

Note: If you own your own company and also blog, or if you know someone who owns their own company and also blogs, and would like to see them featured, please send them/me an email.

  16. Hi, This is my Cozy Little House. It isn't much yet. I just moved in about three months ago. I lived with my son in a small room for several years and I wished for a cozy little house like yours and finally I have it. Brenda, You have inspired me. I haven't really decorated it yet but this winter I hope to be able to take some time off from making my Printies for my Etsy store to make it look like your little house. Thanks for all the inspiration and the hope that you have given me. I think that is what you do for all of us. You give us hope when we are down. You inspire us to keep going and to make what we have into something beautiful. Thank you !! ! I have an Etsy store where I sell my Printables. I would love it if you could feature me.

  17. Wow, her photos are truly stunning and I really love how many have flowers! Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

  18. I've come here almost every year for charity or corporate events and grand galas. The view from space Miami events is incredible, the design is simple and elegant, the staff is friendly etc.

I always enjoy reading your comments and having you join the conversation here at Cozy Little House. It is like having a gathering of friends sitting in my cozy apartment. Enjoying coffee and dessert, chatting and having a good time.

Please be kind with your comments. We all need kindness in this world. That's not to say you can't state your opinion! Everyone should be able to state their own opinion in a kind and thoughtful manner.

I appreciate each and every one of you!
