Which Computer I Picked & Voting Begins

This is the computer I chose, and I love it so far. It is a 15.6 inch Toshiba Satellite L50-C Pro Series.

I bought it yesterday from Staples. It was on sale, and I got a rebate, so all told it is $500.

This is what it has: Windows 10, backlit keyboard (which I don't think I can ever now do without!), lots of gigibytes, very fast, very lightweight.

They were just bringing one out to the floor for display. When they opened it up, there was a collective "ah" upon opening the laptop and seeing the color. The inside is sort of a champagne color, not the silver I was accustomed to. It looks classy. (Hard to see the color in the photos.)

I had already decided that I didn't want a 17 inch. A little too cumbersome and I was already accustomed to the 15.6.

I asked for someone knowledgeable, and told her exactly what I needed. That I am on the computer a GREAT deal. That I need it to be very fast and hold a lot if necessary. (I have my photos on my desktop and will probably leave them there.)

I told her about the things I didn't like with the HP I brought home from Best Buy last week.

I wanted a dedicated right click and not just a rectangle. And these keys are smooth as silk.

Now, I didn't even open it up till this morning, and immediately started working on it. After about an hour, I realized that I had not seen one iota of bloatware! Not one friggin' ad, folks! I would not be having to wipe the hard drive!

So far I am liking Windows 10, which I was doubtful about. There are some new features I really like.

Down on the left-hand bottom of the screen is a place to search the web. Fast and incredibly efficient to have it there.

When you start to type something in the browser, it comes up with every possible configuration. So that saves me time.

A gratuitous and somewhat blurry photo of the pupsters. I have not been able to get good photos of them lately. In every one I took this morning, either Abi or Charlie was blurred.

This was the best of the lot. I know you miss seeing these precious pupsters!

  4. Hi Brenda! Glad you found a computer you like. I have to admit, I'm a Dell gal and Mr. Precious bought me a new one a few months ago and I simply love it. Now, of course I voted for you!! ;)

  6. I voted! Good Luck!
I am celebrating my birthday this evening by having a few neighbors over for strawberry cheesecake. My birthday is actually on the 12th but everyone goes to church on Wednesday nights.
    Love seeing the pupsters.

  7. I've just recently discovered your blog. Your new computer looks very nice and I hope you continue to be happy with it. We made the decision a few weeks ago to get a Mac, so it's been quite a learning curve, but I love it. BTW, I voted for you. GOOD LUCK!

  8. Really enjoy your blog, and of course voted for you. Your computer looks fabulous! I am a Macbook Pro user, they are more money, but solid, very reliable. Just a little different learning curve, but if I can do it, anyone can!

  9. OH, a new toy. Sounds wonderful! Enjoy!

  10. Thanks for the photo of the pupsters. They were the main attraction when I first started following your blog.

You have excited me about your computer. I need a new one. Plan to go to staples tomorrow and check. Thank you for sharing your experience.

    Will now go vote.

  11. Voted! Best of luck! Glad you were able to find a computer you really like! ~Rhonda

  12. I voted too Brenda..I also tweeted about it..Love the new laptop...The pups are looking good..Hugs to them!

  13. I need a new computer badly. Keep putting off an actual purchase because of being unable to decide whether I want a desktop or a laptop (which I have never owned before). In the minimal amount of shopping I have done, I did find that I liked the keyboard on the Toshiba better than other brands, simply because the keys are "elevated" more than others. I like to be able to have a good feel of the keys (I've always be a very fast typist), and do not like the laptops that seem to enter things on the screen if you merely hover your hands over the keys. Too sensitive to suit me. On the other hand, I have a very old Dell desktop that is older than Job-- I brought it home from the office when I retired--and have never had one iota of trouble with it. But it is on its last legs ..... really slow. Lastly, the thought of having to learn what Windows 10 will do is a little off-putting since a lot of people were not very fond of Windows 8, much less 10. Sometimes it seems Microsoft just can't leave well enough alone, particularly when it comes to people who have to figure out the new stuff on their own. My computer needs, compared to other people, would be about a 5 on a scale of 1-10, but I do like speed and uncomplicated operation. Weight isn't as important to me as it might to others as I do not plan to be carrying it round; I use my mini-iPad for that. Good luck with the new Toshiba!

  14. Congratulations. I know you'll love it. I really need a new computer. Have a good Wednesday.

  15. A backlit keyboard sounds amazing...what will they think of next :)

  16. My husband has a 13 year old Satellite laptop that still is going strong so good choice Brenda!

  17. Congratulations on your new computer! That's a great price :)

Charlie and Abi are so cute.

I already voted for you yesterday ;)

  18. Voted, and congrats on the nomination!
