I'm not altogether finished, but wanted to show you what I've accomplished so far.
Got the curtains up. Took the front leaf of the table off, where you see my desktop computer.
I looked for a desk. Looked at the free stuff and cheap stuff on Craigslist. (Do you know I've never purchased anything from Craigslist? Weird, huh?)
So I shopped the apartment and walked around and looked in closets, and finally decided this would have to do for now.
I did buy a new chair at Wayfair. It was just over a hundred dollars. So that was most of my budget for this project.
Things aren't straight yet, which drives me crazy. I will have to work on that or it will drive me on round the bend.
But I wanted to get this posted.
I don't know what, if anything, I'm putting in the two frames you see with the red and white striped fabric inside it.
I'll tell you how I did that and the fabric frame with the clock:
I cut the fabric to be smaller than the outside of the frames. I then took thumb tacks and just tacked the pieces of fabric on the wall. Then I hung the frames over that. Easy peasy!
I really like all this natural light I'm getting from the patio doors. I can look outside and see my pretty patio.
My college diploma from journalism school is up top. I've tried to add things that are important to me. And that framed diploma has spent many years in closets where I never saw it.
So here's what I purchased:
The chair ($118 I think)
The black wire basket above the printer ($8)
Red spray paint ($5)
The little white can with pencils (about $3)
The three clipboards: (Under $10 dollars)
My budget for this project was $150. The chair took up the bulk of that. So I came in at $144.
I got the curtains, but I didn't consider them part of this project. They were so I could keep my electric bill down. They are nice and lined!
They were the last curtains on my list to buy. I started when I first moved in here, and have just added as I went along, ordering all from the same online shop. I also have the shower curtain that matches. I just love red and white buffalo checked fabric.
Here's what I did with the clipboards: I put Frog tape in various arrangements on them, then painted over the tape with red spray paint.
This is the thing that really isn't straight. The paper has been blowing around due to the ceiling fan.
It's almost 100 degrees in the shade right now!
Where on earth is fall??? If you see it, please send it this way. I think it's gotten lost.
I printed these out from the internet. All were free. I like to have quotes and such that are important to me where I can see them and reflect on their meaning.
Of course my coffee bar is right behind me. Which is nice in an office!
I'll update you when I get more done. What I'm going to do I don't know yet. Not a whole lot more probably. I've considered painting the two desk tables. On the fence about that one.
I'll live with it and see if something just pops into my head, as usual.
That's kind of how I do things. Spur of the moment!
