  1. Brenda, I've been on pins and needles waiting to hear about Abi. So glad she made it through her surgery, but hopefully she'll be able to come home tonight. Poor little thing…they just don't understand what's going on. My heart goes out to both of you and Charlie, too!

  2. I would have been so bummed and I would have cried too. Bless your heart and Abi's and Charlies. Stay strong for your girl.

  3. Oh my goodness. Well, know that she is safe and under meds that keep her calm. I would have done exactly what you did…cry my eyes out. Our pets are our children. God, knows this is very true for me. I am boarding little Rosie this weekend to move and people ask me why? Well, she is blind and I have to get my new house set up so she is not banging her head on every single piece of furniture. Newness is a process for her. I hate doing, it but boarding her is the best and safest way for us. Love and prayers to you and Abi.

  4. Oh I know how hard that must've been! Poor thing. I hope she is doing better today so you can bring her home.

  5. Brenda, my feelings are the same as those before me. I could not read your post without visualizing your experience and experiencing your pain. Much love being sent your way.

  6. I know this is hard on all three of you. Hope you get your girl home soon. Hangi in there.

  7. My Yorker was just very sick. It turned out to be his pancreatis as well as every organ was swollen and fluid in the lungs. At 14 yrs old, it was not looking good. The vet had him on Iv's all day and I brought him home at night as I couldn't afford to keep him there overnight. Money was running out so I brought him to a Naturpath who explained the drug they were giving him was making it worse. She gave me a prescription of furosemide for the fluid in his lung in liquid form so I can put it in chicken broth and not force pills down his throat. $ 19.99 for a2month supply from petmed.com. She put him on 2 Naturpathic drops. I started cooking organic chicken boneless ( fat is bad for pancreatis) and saving he broth in jars. This is his new diet- 2 servings a day of turkey, grass feed lean meat meatballs or boneless chicken with cut up kale, spinach broth. In between he gets cut up carrots, celery, greens, sweet potato cubes all fresh. Lots of broth, a bit of goats milk, and the following mixed in his breakfast – solid gold sea meal, Great Lakes gelatin, dr me cola digestive enzymes. I just stated giving him a 1/4 cup of kibble in between. He slept for the first 2 weeks as his little body healed but now this is about the 4th week and he's almost like his old self again! The swelling is way down in his belly area so I know the organs are improving( you could actually see his tummy bulge from his swollen liver) I go to an excellent well respected vet but the heavy drugs and awful food they recommended for him(Hills) would have killed him. Don't be afraid to research and do things different. My vet said Naturpathic vets are whitchcraft and he's more than a bit surprised at the way my baby has recovered! I'm praying for your little guy!

  8. I included you and your little dog in my prayers. Dogs are part of the family. I really believe that my dog thinks she is part human! Take care.

  9. I'm so sorry. Praying that she is feeling much better in the morning and that you can bring her home tomorrow.

  10. Awwww, I was so sorry to read your news, but I hope it brings you some comfort knowing Abi is in the good care of professionals. Hang in there, and she will be home before you know it!
    Blessings,
    Peggy

  11. I'm so sorry you had to leave your baby overnight. It'll be a long night for you and Charlie, but it'll be a joyous morning tomorrow. Cuddle Charlie extra tight tonight 🙂

  13. Thinking of Miss Abi and you and Charlie tonight – she's probably snoring away with the meds they gave her but it's still so hard to leave your little baby overnight. Hey, if her ACL is anything like mine it's no wonder she was growling when they tried to move her! Big hugs for all of you xoxo

  14. Aw, Brenda. I'm so sorry, but I know exactly how you feel. My cat, the same cat I told you about the other day, got into a fight at 6 months old, and he ended with a huge open wound on his hind quarters, on the left side. I took him to the vet, in which they stitched him up, and while he was there, the vet went ahead and neutered him. He stayed overnight that night. I expected that, but when I went to get him the next morning, like you, they wanted to keep him one more night because his wound was getting infected. I could maybe understand one night, but two?! Oh, I cried like a baby. So, yeah, I so know how you feel. But I'm sure Abi is fine, though, and you'll get to bring her home tomorrow. I'm still praying for all of you, too!

  16. Oh Brenda, I am so sorry you have to wait to bring her home. Hopefully she will be better in the morning. I have all of you in my thoughts!

  17. It's hard to leave fur baby at the vet over-night. But she will be safest there. xox Try to get some sleep knowing that she will be back with you and Charlie tomorrow…xox

  18. I'm so sorry, Brenda, I know you just wanted her home. If she's in pain, it's probably the best place for her, they can monitor her through the night. Of course, they can't love her like you and Charlie do, but she'll get that in the morning! 🙂 xo

  19. h Brenda, would have cried too. When I picked up Hank from being "neutralized" they said he was really swollen and told me to watch him. He was very swollen and red. He woke long enough to eat about three tiny pieces of food. Then fell fast asleep. I had to force a couple tsp of water in his mouth. He sleep for almost 24 hours. I was so worried. So maybe it is a good thing that they kept her. They are just little dogges and meds make them pretty sleepy. I hope you and Charlie can sleep tonight. Post as soon as you get home from getting her. Prayers for you three. Hugs

  20. Oh, Brenda, I'm crying my eyes out! My thoughts and prayers are with you, Abi and Charlie. I know it was devastating to you to plan on bringing her home, but having to leave her all alone tonight, but it's probably for the best since she's in so much pain. Please keep us posted. I'm sending you a big hug from my Keeper and me.

  21. I'm sorry, Brenda, but hopefully they will give her something for her pain and she'll rest better. I know it's hard but prayerfully she'll be able to come home tomorrow. Sending you a big hug.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  22. She'll be fine tomorrow, Brenda. Maybe she just needs some pain meds adjusted and is better where they can watch her. Breathe easy and you'll be glad to bring her home tomorrow. It's only been 2 days since surgery and she's been thru a lot.

  23. I'm so sorry, Brenda. How disappointing! Hopefully, Abi will get some rest tonight and she won't hurt so badly tomorrow. Prayers, thoughts, and hugs sent your way! 🙂

  24. She will be okay, Brenda. It is just disappointing but I know you would rather have her comforted by drugs if she needs them to keep her from being in pain. She will be okay and probably sleep the night away with something in her system to comfort her pain.

Snuggle Charlie just a little tighter. xo Diana

  25. As hard as it is for you to leave her there overnight, it is probably the best thing for her. That way her pain can be monitored and when she goes home with you she will be feeling a bit better. Poor baby, I am so sorry that she is in so much pain. I know it's hard no to worry, but try not to too much. Abi is reacting in a very normal way for a dog who hurts. Give Charlie lots of love tonight.

  26. Brenda, I am just so sorry you had to leave her but am praying she will have a good night and be ready for you tomorrow.
