A Recent Wayfair Acquisition For The Living Room

I was given product by Wayfair, which was used in this post.

I know I just changed things up in here when I painted. But then, as a new Wayfair Homemaker, I get the wonderful opportunity to acquire Wayfair products for my home as part of their program.

This month I chose this dresser, because as we all know, in a small space, you can just never seem to have enough storage.

I see I failed to straighten the pulls, so look past that!

I had my white trunk between the chairs, but it went to the bedroom. It is full of my quilts. When one thing comes in, either something else must go out or it must be put some place else if you have a spot for it.

I didn't want to put a white piece of furniture up against a white wall. So I chose to put it in front of this quilt. How better to showcase it?

I have pillow slips and shams in this dresser. I like everything in one place so they're easily found, and I like them to have them adequate room so they don't get wrinkled. So this served me well.

Lately readers have been asking me if I do away with collections, and how many I currently have.

Actually, all I can think of are my quilts and my white pitchers that I like to rotate around the apartment. And I have a small collection of wash boards as well.

I simply don't have the room for many collections. And I really don't want to collect anything else at this point.

I like the look of the pretty pitchers in a simple rustic galvanized tray for contrast. And a red and white polka dotted runner underneath that for added color interest.

How many collections do you currently have? And are you having trouble finding space for them? Where do you store your collections when you don't have them on display?

I was given product by Wayfair as part of the Wayfair Homemakers program.

  1. That dresser is really pretty and perfect for storage. I have too many collections and can't display them all so I'm in the process of downsizing to just the items I really really love or doing away with a collection all together. I want to simplify and while it's not going to come easy or fast I know I can do it.

    1. I think you have to draw the line somewhere. I used to start various collections. But then when I moved from TX and as I downsized and downsized again, had to give them away or sell them.

  2. That is a sweet white dresser and handy. Oh I have lots of collections, and my daughter is way more a collector than me, but I don't have room, so I rotate things. Even so, some still has to go. xoox Su

  3. Gorgeous. I love it. I really do like Wayfair. Good quality at a good price. And, no, I don't have many collections. I have a few that are boxed up but I have less space than you and few counter tops to use. Sad, but that's just the way it is.

    1. I've gotten things from there because I like the price and they get it to you in just a few days. My neighbors in the next apartment order a lot from them as well.

  4. LOL I did NOT notice the pulls till you said to look and even then I could not have cared...I just liked how your runner and quilt, etc. offset the white of the pretty dresser :)

    1. I got it free, but paid Israel $75 to put it together. He could start a little business of putting things together. I have been keeping him busy lately.

  5. Oh dear....things seem to find me. Right now we have galvanized tin 19 pieces, baskets 30-something, white pitchers from creamers to 2qt - 27, giraffes - 62' pears - 22, rolling pins - 12, and vintage Ball jars in each different edition and jar manufactured. A very big reason there are so many of these things is when you like something the entire family jumps on it and it becomes a frenzy. Thankfully, I do have the storage to rotate things and use them all over the house.

    1. This is a great program. Every month they put out a page of items bloggers can choose from. You can choose two items from their list and get them free. Then do a review within 30 days. Also other perks, like discounts on all Wayfair's stores.

  7. So pretty. Once again you nailed it! I also wanted to mentioned that when I told you about how wonderful Joanne Fluke books are...her third installment of one of her books on tv is on tonight on the Hallmark channel. 8 central. Allison Sweeney is the star of them and they are wonderful! Just wanted to give you a heads up in case you were interested tonight in watching. I actually think the 2 others are on before the newest one tonight. ~Bobbie

The top drawer tends to stick. I'm going to have Israel look at it.

  11. The chest looks very nice in front of the quilt and the red dot runner is a great accent. I would never have thought of using the runner. I tend to be too afraid of color.

    1. It isn't hard to learn to quilt. It's kind of like riding a bicycle. Once you get the stitch down, it's easy.

  13. Looks great, Brenda - but I wouldn't expect anything else from you! I love Wayfair, I ordered a bunch of stuff from there when I was decorating my house. Did you make that quilt?

  14. What a bright and cheery spot! So many people don't think "dresser" for the main rooms, but they can add a lot of storage!

  15. Actually that chest pops in front of your quilt! And how serviceable it is. Yes, I have collections, lots of LB bskts which must go. I will be selling the house soon and parting with many things.

  17. That looks great against your quilt!! I love to multi-purpose furniture. I have a dresser in my kitchen for my microwave and another as an end table in my family room. I don't think you can ever have too much storage, although I really need to purge!! Hope the pups are both doing well.

  18. Brenda, I love it!! I love how you have the new dresser styled with the runner and quilt and I know you'll get so much good use from it. I know several friends have ordered from Wayfair and have always been pleased.

  19. I love the dresser! Actually, I need something that size as I don't have enough storage space at all. It looks great in front of the quilt...which is beautiful! You have such a talent! Love the white pitchers too.

I don't have many collections anymore. When I downsized I either gave away or donated. I found that one can live without a lot! :)

  20. I like the chest. You can always use storage. Love your quilts anyway and it looks great behind the chest. Sure wish Israel lived near me,
I am trying to narrow down the things I collect and keep them small. Since I started the minis and now dolls, I have to try really hard.

    1. I couldn't have "minis" in my life I don't think. That would be way too much "mini" stuff to take care of in a small space for me!

  21. The dresser is very nice and the way you displayed all the colors they pop well. The best part I find is that a dresser can store things that may not be so pretty. Dressers are not only for clothing anymore such as they were back in the day, and that's a good thing. I too enjoy quilting and yours are fabulous. Lisa@ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air

  23. I just read the post about you from the Wayfair Homemakers program. It made me realize why your blog is my very favorite. You write from the heart and though your lovely decor just makes me smile every time I see it, it is really your transparency and realism that appeal. So many bloggers seems to just paint a perfect picture of their lives and homes and it just gets tiring. So, thank you so much for putting yourself out there for me and becoming a virtual friend.
Regarding collections, I am not a collector. (Although I do have 3 large Redwing Pottery jugs.)
Have made major moves many times and each time I have rid myself of more stuff. We built a home on a mountain in Montana a year ago so now all my decor is "North Woods." I still have bright blue decor that doesn't fit here and I haven't gotten rid of all of it. But most people see our home as very clutter-free.
Love your new white walls and the way you have things displayed.
I have bought several things from Wayfair. Very pleased with everything.

    1. For me, blogging like that would be boring. It would be stilted. It wouldn't be me, and I think people reading it could feel that. I have no desire to just "paint a perfect picture" because that would be a fairy tale.

  26. That is a great piece! I've had to give up my collections due to lack of space in this small house. I couldn't part with my Precious Moments because they were all gifts for special occasions. Right now they're packed up in storage though.

  28. I love extra storage and pretty is a bonus! Love the dresser and it's so pretty against the quilt. I love pretty white pitchers. I've collected many. I'm trying to be picky when I see them at thrift stores now. Love how you have them displayed on the metal tray.
