What Do You Want To See More Of In 2016?

I cherish my readers. I want to write posts that are of interest to you. So I'm doing a little survey here to get feedback.

I'm going to ask you some questions. Please answer in the comments. If a question isn't of importance to you, just skip it.

Let me know:

1. Do you want to see more decorating/DIY posts in 2016?

2. Do you want to see more gardening posts in 2016?

3. Do you enjoy reading about small space or apartment living?

4. Do you enjoy reading about decluttering/purging/organization?

5. Do you enjoy reading about simplifying your life?

6. Do you enjoy reading what I call "slice of life" (what I label reflections), in which I simply write what's on my mind?

7. Do you enjoy stories about the pupsters?

8. Would you like to see more or less photos? Or it doesn't matter?

9. Is it important to you how often I post?

10. What suggestions do you have? I'm all ears.

Note: I'm going to try not doing truncated posts, the ones where you have to click "Read More." I have to see how it affects my page load. If this matters to you, I'd also like to know what you think about this.

If you'd give me some feedback in the comments, I'd really appreciate it!

  1. I love this Blog just as it is. I like best the way that I feel like we are just sitting down and having a nice conversation!
I personally love the pupster posts, and the slice of life ones the best.
I also hate any kind of pop up adds and ones video ones that load as soon as you click on a Blog. I understand that you have to run this Blog as a business, so I can ignore a lot, when it comes to that "crap" lol...
    Love it...no change needed!

    1. I try to keep the ads down. But I must make an income. And it's not for "extras", it is for bills and food, as you know. I appreciate that you readers have been so nice about having to deal with them. I truly don't know what I'd do without that income. But I do thank you for being patient and kind.

    1. I didn't know what to call those kinds of posts. They are ones in which I am just rambling, I suppose! Sometimes it seems to have a purpose, and maybe other times it does not. I'm glad you like the photos. I work hard at my photography and am ever thankful for Picmonkey so I can edit them! The pupsters, now snoozing next to me, thank you! They appreciate that I make money off my ads to provide for their special dog food too!

  7. I love it too. We all can't always be interested in every single post, but I still read the ones that don't particularly interest me and sometimes I find to my surprise that they are interesting after all. You have a gift, Brenda, of making everything you write interesting. I appreciate your openness and honesty. Being a dog lover, I love hearing about the pupsters. I also agree with the previous reviewer I just ignore the "crap" because I love your blog! If I'm not having the best day I log onto Cozy Little House and your bright colorful photos always cheer me up. So I think I would love to se more photos.

  20. Brenda,

I enjoy your blog the way it is. I especially love the small apartment living. The tiny house movement is upon us and I although I am not on board with some of the tiny houses that don't have plumbing, my family and I downsized this year from a large 4 bedroom apartment to a much smaller 2 bedroom apartment by choice. I hadn't realized how much stuff we really had though and I am struggling with what to get rid of.

I love all your posts though, really. I don't have a green thumb, actually I have a black thumb and can't even manage to keep a cactus alive (no lie). I do love hearing about your gardening.

The best thing about your blog is that it's not the same thing every single day. Keep doing what you are doing !

Yours is the only blog that I read on a regular basis. Those blogs from white-on-white homes, to me, are so boring.
I love to hear about your “slices of life“, your struggles, your successes, and I can see that you are one strong survivor. Please keep doing what you are doing and please don’t post fewer photos.

  34. I try to save your blog to read last, because I enjoy your writing style, your down to earth suggestions, and your pictures . "Authentic" has become a buzz word , so I hate to use it, but it does sum up your posts. I visualize you as a real woman facing reallife dilemmas like budgeting, relationships, and trying to make your home a refuge. Your knack is being genuine and very likeable. I like decorating, crafting, and I enjoy learning about taking better pictures. You do a great job of including variety and relevant information. I don't have dogs or a maintenance man, but I like your posts about them. I also enjoy armchair road trips to antique, thrift shops, gardens and places of interest via photos.

Hi Brenda ~ I think my favorite posts of yours are the ones where you let us in on your daily life and your reflections about your experiences... from interactions with your handyman (that sounds bad, but you know what I mean ;) to your visits to Walmart... you weave humor through both light-hearted and more challenging moments. 40. Hi Brenda, I love all of your blog, I love your decor pictures, what you write about, your pupsters and the fact that you are honest and down to earth. I didn't even know what a blog really was until I joined Pinterest last year which is how I found you. I was very drawn to your blog because you let us readers into some of your personal journey in life. I have a slightly similar tale, I have ADD and I read the blog on your Aspergers which my daughter is thought to have). I have a lot of health problems, CFS and fibromyalga, osteoarthritis from an accident years ago, anyway I sometimes have to rest for days at a time which can be depressing if I let it. When I discovered pinterest it was something to take my mind off my pain etc and I started to wonder if I could start a blog. I enjoy DIY, decorating, repurposing etc. I have never been good at putting my thoughts into words so it is a real challenge. I have learnt and enjoyed everything that you write about, and I realised I didn't have to have a wonderful big home as some bloggers do but rather make do or change what you have, which has always appealed to me especially now to help our environment and cut down on garbage. I read one of your posts when you had to go to the doctor a distance away and couldn't find your car and you were feeling overwhelmed. I am exactly the same so really emphasize with you. Have you heard of empaths?, I'm wondering if you maybe one because I watched a short video by Dr. Judith Orloff on youtube and I realised that it was me to a T!. Anyway I've been wanting to comment on your blog for awhile but I find it hard so kept putting it off. I think because you asked for readers thoughts I felt I could reply. As I said I love all of your blog and I don't mind if I have to "read on", so please don't change. I may ask a few questions if that's ok at some time for my blog which I have published 4 times. No one except for my children and a close friend has commented, I hope they eventually do but I'm not being deterred! Thanks again, Lindy

It is easier to say which I could do with LESS, because I enjoy them all but if I wanted MORE of any, I guess it would be REFLECTIONS, PURGING, and PHOTOS are a MUST! 1. This is a trial run with truncated posts. It is what I get the most complaints about.

  62. Your blog is the very first thing I go to everyday. I can't think of anything you could do to make me love it more!
You are truly a friend, you've done a remarkable job that makes all your readers feel that way.

  63. Brenda, I enjoy your blog very much. I like the variety of things you share. My favorites are slice of life, the pupsters, gardening and decorating your home. The simplifying is also something I'm doing so I love those posts also. I know you must have ads and they don't bother me.
    hugs,

    1. Thanks! Ads bother me on blogs at times too. But I tell myself: They gotta pay to keep the lights on!

  64. Slice of life are the best ones, but I like them all. Yours is the only blog I read every day.

  65. I enjoy reading about you and the pupsters and seeing your pretty pictures. Your decorating ideas inspire me. I enjoy items 6, 7, 8 and 9 most of all. I don't' read "Tweak it Tuesday" They have nice pictures but I would rather read about you.

    1. Well, it's just once a week. And it's to showcase other bloggers.

    2. I enjoy "Tweak it Tuesday". It's like being a good neighbor and acknowledging that other blogs are there and it promotes them like a friend would shop in another friends newly opened store if they had one. I don't click on each one, but probably 30-50% It's a fun diversion.

    1. I got it at Farmhouse Wares online. I tried to email you but you have a no reply blog, so I couldn't answer you. I've heard the cow painting is no longer available.

  68. This is the first time I've had the courage to respond to a blog like this -which I look forward to each day. To answer your question - I love the balance of stories, insights, art, your photography - the challenges of day to day living - I feel like a friend has shared the trials of day to day living with me and I'm right there with you, rooting you on. You remind me that a beautiful home can be created with imagination, inspiring me to look at my own home in a new way. With your posts I can laugh, cry and dig in to try something new and not be afraid or nervous about the outcome. Thanks for your diligence - and keeping in touch each day.

  69. I love your blog just like it is but if you added more gardening posts it wouldn't make me cry. I do like how you post what is on your mind or whatever is relevant to you at that moment in time. It is much like when I call my best friend and who knows where the conversation is going to go! I have followed you a long time and look forward to every post. Thank you for sharing.

  73. Let's see...number 1 through 7 are all yeses. Number 8, I think you have the right amount of photographs for each post. It's always in keeping with the length of each issue. No. 9, I like your once-a-day approach--suits me fine because I really enjoy reading your blog--it is never boring! No. 10--sorry, I have no suggestions; I like your blog the way it is. As far as the truncating goes, it doesn't bother me a bit to have to click to read more. Like Bonnie above, I have read it helps keep one's blog from being stolen--I have no clue how that works, but I do truncate my blog just to be safe.

  80. I enjoy the blog, as it is. It's not like most of the other ones out there and that is a breath of fresh air. I think there's a nice balance with ads and not too many. Thank you for your wonderful writing and photos.
