Sunday On The Patio

The plants in containers on the patio are coming up, slowly but surely. It will be interesting to see what all came back from last year.

I love how this sedum looks this year. My friend in CA sent it and it is looking even better than last year. Thanks again, Annette!

Such sweet perfume we get from alyssum. I guess we could call it Mother Nature's perfume!

The hostas are looking good. I enjoy all the different shades of green on their pretty leaves.

I'm watching the sun every hour or so to see how much the new periwinkle raised garden is getting.

May have to move some plants if certain areas don't get enough sun with the leaves coming out on the trees.

A clematis bloom opening up. It has more blooms so far than it did last year. But it's more established this year.

I always love to have ornamental grasses in the gardens for their added foliage and textures to off-set the flowers.

What I have on my list to maybe look for soon: Kimberly fern, golden pennies, sweet potato vine, purslane as it gets hotter. Maybe some salvia and bee balm.

What do you have on your list of must haves for your gardens this year?

  1. I bought potato vine, caladium bulbs, and begonias. They are for the front yard which is in part shade. For the back I have thought of red cannas like I saw on a visit to Oklahoma City. Do you use potting soil with a moisture helper?

  2. LOL we had snow this morning !! I am amazed comparing your plants to what's going on here though we did have sunshine too :)

  3. I just purchased some caladiums to fill in bare spots in my long planter on the patio. I purchased a knock out rose bush because I have never had one, so I am very excited to see how well it does. I saw sweet potato vines at Lowe's today. I'll probably go back and pick some up. It's been so beautiful out all day today that I hate to come inside. Can't wait to see more of your garden. You always inspire me.

    1. I haven't tried caladiums in a long time. I just might try that, as my raised bed is mostly in shade.

  4. I need to do some research on what will take lots of heat as my front yard gets so much sun. I love sweet potato vine so much, the color makes me smile. Your garden is looking so great already.

  5. Your patio is looking beautiful. There is nothing like having flowers to look at in the yard.

  6. Very beautiful patio and pictures! Such a lovely way to enjoy the day. My hostas are peeking out of the ground here in Minnesota. Had to net the landscaping in so the deer wouldn't eat everything!

  7. Hi Dear Brenda....
I hope spring is being kind to you.... i love these images... so peaceful and beautiful! I am on my third bout of sickness this year but am trying to keep on keeping on and enjoying spring! I always love seeing your garden!
