Blooming & Growing

Something is eating the morning glory leaves. I haven't figured out what yet.

I like how the purple looks against the very weathered fence.

All of the hostas are putting up blooms.

I found a few plants on Lowes 50 cent table that looked half-dead. I'm trying to revive them. This one is blooming.

The green gazebo has been so nice to shield the sun. It also helps shield my patio door from all this recent heat.

This bush/shrub (not sure what it's called), Israel brought to me. Two pots that he'd dug up that the manager told him to toss.

Instead he brought them to me. I replanted them in good soil, trimmed them way back, and they're looking quite healthy now.

The patio is lush with all the plants. This is the time of year when many plants die back from the horrid heat. But I cut them all back in the fall, and many come right back.

It is a feast to my eyes to go out there and walk among the different gardens I've created. Vegetables, fairy gardens, water gardens, flower and herb gardens. It all makes me happy.

  4. I love the shade you get from the gazebo. My plants are wilting in the heat even with my watering them. Summer in the south!!

  5. You have created a sanctuary in your backyard for yourself, the wildlife and your followers! Just gorgeous! My I ask if you painted the bowling balls or were they that color when you received them? If you did paint them, what kind of paint did you apply! Thanks

    1. They aren't bowling balls. They are metal gazing balls for gardens.

  8. I'm happy that you have this little "oasis" to help to bring peace to your life. Everything is beautiful.

I have enjoyed planting flowers and gardening for almost 49 years in my yard. Now we have the presence of snakes. They take the pleasure out of being out in the yard. I will enjoy my flowers from my deck.

    Have a happy summer.

  9. I always say, there is nothing like free plants. I bought a lot of plants the past month and a Walmart employee told me to check out the rear corner of the garden area. Holy Moly! If a garden soil bag comes with a tear or it is ripped, they tape it and the bags are 35% off! And some of there plants are half off. Yes, some of them look as if they have seen better days, but a little bit of love and care they can be good as new!

  13. I enjoyed every photo but the last one with the guardian angel and chubby, colorful little birds made me smile. Such a charming paradise you have created with your own two hands.

  14. When you figure out what is eating your morning glory leaves, please, let us know, the same thing is happening to mine. Your garden is gorgeous and I could sit there for hours just gazing or reading a book.
