Around My Apartment

I have added some pears to the coffee table, a touch of green that I like there.

Here are the green curtains in the bedroom.

I added one of my quilts to the bed for the chillier evenings. I hand-sewed and quilted this one about 1990.

I love the old bottles I find for cheap. They are so interesting in their various shapes.

Here are the green and cream curtains on the patio door. It's sure nice to pull them closed when I need to.

I found the white cupboard at my favorite antique mall for a great price. I needed the storage space.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

  3. Warm, cozy and so inviting. I love the quilts. I collect them and used to make them , but psoriatic arthritis has stiffened my hands and fingers. The new white cabinet is charming as is everything else.

    1. My arthritis keeps me from sewing anymore. But at least I have my stack of quilts I already sewed.

  4. Brenda, I love the white cupboard. I am moving into a different house with a tiny kitchen. I'm using similar cupboards for extra space. It sure does help.
What a beautiful quilt! You are very talented! I enjoy using quilts. While moving, I discovered quilts and blankets made by my grandmother that I'd stored in my parents' attic. It was a delight to come across these treasures.

    1. You're very lucky to have inherited her quilts! I didn't, so had to make my own. I don't even use my kitchen cabinets anymore. Afraid of mice.

  12. I also love the quilts, and especially the one on your bed. You are truly talented. I have made a few quilts in my day as well but they cannot compare to the workmanship in the one on your bed. I know very well how hard it is to make all the little squares come out even.

  14. I love to see the changes in your apartment, Brenda! Thanks for sharing. New things to notice every time, where do you get the funds for those in your frugal budget? I just had a thought, perhaps you could charge them off on your income tax documents as props for your business, which is, after all, decor, photography and decorating lessons. Seriously, think about it...

    1. Well, I don't go out much. I never go to movies, or much of anywhere. I buy clothing about once per year, and that is T-shirts. And I do count everything off my income taxes. My accountant tells me if I put something on my blog, it gets deducted.

    2. Oh, and much of what I decorate with is given to me by sponsors or someone wanting me to review their product. So I get a lot of freebies as well.

  16. I've enjoyed the posts on your home over the past couple of days. In the post on your living room wallpaper I could see the yellow coffee bar with the red handles and I remembered how much I like it. I like the look of it with the two other cabinets in the dining area. It's a fun farmhouse look. I'm working on my first quilt. I started it a year ago. It will be another year before I'm finished, I'm sure! I have big spells of not working on it. If I get one quilt made in my life I will be thrilled. Yours are beautiful and it's great that you have them out where you can enjoy your handiwork. Thanks for another enjoyable post.

    1. I need more of those pears. If I could figure out where the rest of my fall stuff is, I may have some in there. I do really love that color. That and Granny Apple green, which is very close.

  20. I recently attended the Missouri State Fair and everything in your apartment reminds me of it! The beautiful quilts, horses, cows and even the green curtains remind me of the deep green grass in Missouri. Your apartment is so cozy and interesting to look at.... I don't know how you manage to change it up so often. I'm one that gets my home the way I like it then I leave it alone for a long time, like years! Lol

  26. I think the new curtains pull the colors together! I also love when you show all the nooks and crannies around your apartment. How do you hang your quilts? Do you leave just one up or do you change them out. I inherited a number of quilts. My family thought they were only for making and displaying, they were never hung, used on a bed or touched. LOL Rhonda

    1. I don't switch them out often. But those in the bedroom were small enough to hang with thumb tacks. The bigger ones I have a "muslin sleeve" I hand-sewed to the back of the top to hang a rod through.
