Flies & Andrew Antics
Sunday, in the wee hours of the morning, the dogs wanted out. I stood at the patio door and felt a bit of a chill in the air.
Fall keeps tiptoeing in and then tiptoeing back out. Some days it is 100 degrees in the shade.
Fall will be here eventually.
We had a wee bit of a problem over the weekend. A fly got into the apartment. Abi was beside herself. Charlie was hiding under the blanket on the bed.
I looked and looked for Abi. I called her name. Finally I found her here, in the bathtub behind the shower curtain.
She came to lay on the bed where I was reading for awhile. But I guess she saw the fly again and back she went to the bathtub.
I got to see my grandson Andrew Saturday. My, he’s a busy boy.
He’s focused on dinosaurs right now. I imagine it will be fleeting, and he’ll be on to something else soon.
He moves with purpose. I wonder what’s going through his mind as he strides around the park.
I always read books to him. And I don’t just read. I make a big drama out of it.
I talk in strange high voices and try to bring it to life for him. I’m a one-woman book of characters.
But then he gets bored and he’s off to something else.
Out to the back yard where he walks around pointing out where his dog, Gizmo, has pooped in the back yard.
Such is the life of a two and a half year old boy.
Andrew already looks and behaves like a wise, determined young man. But I bet he is full of giggles too. Keep reading those stories with funny voices as long as he will sit still enough to listen! They'll be wonderful memories for both of you. Our two sibling cats are 14 now and don't give a hoot about flies, but insects used to keep them very busy. We did find our big male cat in the bathtub once during a storm. Our little buddies have deep feelings too, don't they?
Andrew is such a sweetheart! My granddog hates flies as much as your two pups!
Andrew is such a cutie!!! LOL @ Abi hiding in the tub. I accidentally locked one of our pups in the garage Saturday evening. I didn't see her follow me in. About an hour later, we realized that she wasn't playing with the other 3. OOOPS!!!
Awwww… Your poor doggie is so scared! My dog used to try to eat flies if they flew near him. That was when he had good eyesight. Now, he can barely see due to cataracts. Your grandson is a cutie. Sounds like he's very active. I think it's nice that you can see him a lot.
What a cute guy! I see your resemblance too. Little boys are such interesting characters. I have one of each…?
Oh, he is a cutie! Grandsons grow so fast, don't they. It looks like you and he had a wonderful day.
What a sweetie! He looks like a young Troy Ackman, a favorite Dallas Cowboys quarterback, now retired.
My goodness Brenda..Andrew has grown so much..and he certainly does look like his Grandma…what a handsome little guy..I remember the dinosaur faze..it does last quite a while but at least dinosaurs are real things (or were real things)that he can learn about and he may learn more about them in school..Reading to children is one of the best gifts you can give them..I think I would love to hear your dramatics when you read..lol
Brenda,
Yes, those dinosaurs will be around for a LONG time. 🙂 But, that's not a bad thing. I spotted a 'button' for your fall tour of homes at My Kentucky Living's sidebar and pinned it to my group Pinterest board, Round Up of Blog Home Tours. Your line-up includes such great bloggers.

Bailey had a fit over a fly that was invading her space on the back of the couch. She barked at it and tried to get it. Your grandson is so cute!
I can't decide who's cuter – Abi or Andrew!!! She's too funny with the flies – and Andrew looks so much like you!
So nice that you read to him. My youngest son still enjoyed me reading to him when he was in his early teens. I read The Yearling to him one summer. I always read with drama…such wonderful memories are made reading to young ones.
Andrew is so cute! He looks very much like you.
I hate to tell you this, but that dinosaur phase lasts for a while. I worked in the children's room at the library back in Idaho and the little boys were all obsessed with dinosaurs. They made all the appropriate sounds and could name every single variety. It is an obsession that is generational. There are so many cute books revolving around dinosaurs too. Have fun reading to him, it's such a special bond between grandmother and grandchild. I also think that Andrew favors you!
Big Texas Hugs,

Brenda, always love seeing pics of Andrew. Such determination he has as he strides thru the park. Fall is touching down here too. 61 today, but in the 90s later in the week. We haven't had such a cool day in months and it feels great! Love me some fall!
He is adorable.. So funny about the fly scaring the pup into the bathtub.. Hope you find the fly soon, so he can return to his resting place. smile.
Does your daughter look like you? Because your grandson really favors you.
Grandsons are special. Mine is 20 and in the Navy now. Time flies, that is for sure. I hope that Andrew has the "Land Before Time" movies. If not, maybe Granny could surprise him for Christmas! They are excellent movies that teach good life lessons, and dinosaurs are involved. My Joel just adored everyone and they were a special part of his childhood. I too enjoyed watching them with him!
Brenda, Andrew looks so much like you, just add glasses. Do you see it when you look at him? What a sweet little man, you are blessed!
Oh my, he is growing up so fast. What a cutie. Sounds like a fun day.
Love your reading style…he'll always remember and how fun is that! 🙂

Andrew is adorable. How fun to spend the day with him. Poor pups with the fly. My last basset hound Libby would freak out if a fly was in the house too. Have a great new week Brenda.
Hugs,
Kris
Andrew is absolutely adorable! Abi wasn't having any of that fly…that intruder…
I can't believe how quickly he is growing. It goes by too fast. He looks so much like you. Adorable. xo Laura
Loved reading this, Brenda. Andrew is such a little cutie. And so is Abi too ♥
Hope you are having a great week!

He looks very masculine and very cute. I bet he did not mind getting wet. Two and a half year olds are fun to watch. Little boys enjoy parks. I wonder too what they think about.
He is so cute and growing so fast! They are busy busy at that age for sure!
Andrew is such a cutie! Boys, boys, they can really keep you running, but they're so lovable! Miss mine being that age, Matthew is 16 and a junior in high school – 6 feet tall!
