Six Small Space Bathroom Ideas

More and more people are choosing to live in smaller homes. Some are downsizing when their children leave home. Some get divorced and need to scale down. Some just want to live a simple and more frugal lifestyle.

For whatever reason, you may be facing the design of a small bathroom.

Here is a look at six distinctive styles.

5 Thanksgiving Centerpieces

It's not long until Thanksgiving here in the United States. Which brings me to thinking about table centerpieces for the big day.

How I Like To Style My Bed

I'm a simple girl. I use a top and a bottom sheet. I prefer quilts to duvets. I just don't like a lot of thickness over me at night.

Creative DIY Team October Project: Tablescapes

This month our creative team project is tablescapes. We all live in various sized homes. So our tablescapes reflect who we are, what our style happens to be, and where we happen to live.

Please visit the rest of the team:

Mine is just a simple tablescape, nothing lavish. This is how I live, plain and simple. This is small apartment living.

Fine Print 10/18/16: Teens Texting While Driving

16-Year-Old Girl Dies While Texting On Her First Solo Drive

Savannah Nash of Harrisonville, MO had received her driver’s license less than a week before taking her first unaccompanied drive. She was apparently typing a text message while pulling onto a highway, where a semi truck smashed into her and killed her.

Why These Small Living Spaces Work

People who live in small spaces, and do it well, must be both organized and creative.

It isn't the life for everyone. But it is a way to be both frugal and happy and still have more choices in life.

Instead of paying for a huge mortgage on a large house half your lifetime, you might want to travel to exotic places or start checking things off your bucket list.

Below are examples of small living spaces that do the words "small space living" justice.

I always enjoy seeing this blogger's seasonal decorating.

Charlie's Eye Update

I just got back from the vet. They took the stitches out of his eye. But it still is not healed properly.

So they will see him again in about ten days, during which we will switch from eye drops to ointment.

See, he doesn't want to open his left eye.

Fall Chores To Do In Your Garden

This time of year I typically get sick of looking at all the dead plants, and go to town with my shears. However I know I need to leave foliage for the birds and wildlife in winter.

I cut my plants back about a month ago. But it's cooling off now, just a bit, and most of the ones I'd like to have grow back are going strong.

Particularly the containers of ornamental grasses. They have grown at least a foot!

Let's Have A Book Chat

My daughter brought me "The Girl On The Train" to read months ago. I finally got around to reading it a couple of weeks ago.

I found it interesting that the main character was, herself, so flawed and miserable. Trying not to grab the bottle to soothe herself, and always failing.

I guess it is human nature to want what (and in this case, who) we cannot have. And that she did. Want a man who no longer wanted her.

Why I Love, Love, Love Perfect Linen Sheets

Sponsored post by Perfect Linens...

I was contacted recently by Perfect Linens. I received their flannel sheets a few weeks ago.

And I loved them so much that I already ordered a second set!

It was perfecting timing because last month I broke down and bought a new mattress. My old one was from our guest room in Texas from before the divorce.

So the mattress and box springs were a good 10 years old. And the result was having a back ache as soon as I woke up and that lasted throughout the day.

Have You Tried Bullet Journaling?

Sometimes I'm slow to catch on to things going on around me. I kind of live in my own little cocoon. I rarely watch TV. Never listen to radio. You might have to send a pigeon my way for me to get a message that isn't online!

Suddenly I started seeing bullet journaling. And the first thing I thought was: I can't do this. I can't even read my own writing.

Greatest Space Saving Hacks You May Already Own

Whether you realize it or not, you have many untapped storage solutions in your home.

Some of those solutions come from overlooked or underused spaces. Other solutions can be found in common items you already have on hand.

Think your storage space is already maxed out? You may need to reevaluate after checking out these tips:

If It Bleeds, It Leads & Other Tidbits

The leaves are beginning to fall all over the patio. Once the branches are bare, I will have some work to do out there.

I spent a day last week cutting back plants and doing some container and garden bed clean-up.

After I did so, I can see green shoots coming back up. Maybe some of the plants have a bit of life in them yet before it gets cooler and we have a freeze that lay them down for the winter months.

Fine Print 10/11/16: October Is Domestic Violence Month

October is National Domestic Violence month.

And why, you may be asking, is that important for you to know?

Because domestic violence lurks in every strata of society. No matter whether you are rich or poor, you are in danger of getting caught up in a situation defined as domestic violence.

Or it might be your sister, your mother, your daughter, your best friend...

It could be you.

I've interviewed and written articles about domestic violence. I've lived it.

Cooler Nights & Charlie's Surgery

It's that strange weather time of year when you have to turn the heat on at night, but often have to turn the air conditioning on during the day.

I don't open my windows. The screens are flimsy and have holes where insects get in, and the pupsters go nuts when flying insects get in.

Speaking of the pupsters, Charlie had to have eye surgery Friday. It was kind of a sudden thing. We went in Friday morning for a third check up of his left eye, which has an ulcer in it.

I hope you enjoyed yesterday's blog tours that featured five bloggers' seasonal inspiration on their individual blogs.

As you probably know by now, this tour is about being thankful.

And it's also about remembering our dear fellow blogger, Pat Freymuth of Back Porch Musings. Her death is deeply felt throughout Blog Land. Such a loss to us all.
