So I Ordered A Red Ottoman From Target

Naturally once I got to thinking about an ottoman, I had to look online at Target. Someone had mentioned looking there.

I saw that this was a one-day sale for $83. It is 17 inches high and 24 inches round. Inside storage. (You know I need storage in a one-bedroom apartment.)

Had it in red, so I grabbed it after doing some measuring.

I will have to figure out what to do with the big square coffee table.

Anyone in Tulsa need a 32" square coffee table? It is made of good wood. In fact that's why I ordered it.

Again, here's what it looks like. It came unfinished. I first painted it with French blue chalk paint. I didn't like the finish.

So I then painted it with Valspar cabinet paint, which is very durable. It is my go-to paint source now, and what I painted the cupboard in the background with.

Here's what it said about it online where I purchased it (Wayfair).

From Montana Woodworks®, the largest manufacturer of handcrafted, heirloom quality rustic furnishings in America comes the Homestead Collection line of furniture products. Handcrafted in the mountains of Montana using solid, American grown wood, the artisans rough saw all the timbers and accessory trim pieces for a look uniquely reminiscent of the timber-framed homes once found on the American frontier. This delightful coffee table with shelf underneath adds just the right amount of rustic styling to your living room or other indoor area. 20-Year limited warranty included at no additional charge.

You know I couldn't pass up red at that price that had storage!

Guess when it arrives, will try to put the coffee table under the gazebo.

  3. What is the name of the lovely yellow you used on the cabinet? Lots of suspense waiting for the pictures of your ottoman. That is good this time of the year. 🎅🏻

    1. I don't have a color name for you, unfortunately. It was just one I eyed on a swatch at Lowes and had them make for me in the cabinet paint I prefer.

  6. What a great choice, that red will really pop with your black leather sofa! I don't think it matters how much we measure, things always seem to be twice the size when they are actually in our space. I appreciate your dilemma with the square coffee table. I am finding that round seems to work so much better in a small space. While I am learning to love my new to me small space, I think I will always be on a learning curve! I think you will be very happy with that ottoman.

    1. I should have gone round in the first place. Too many angles in here. Actually, to be exact, it is a brown sofa and it is faux leather...

  7. Love the ottoman! Maybe you can tile or mosaic the coffee table and use it on the patio? Or use tin ceiling tiles on it or something else creative?

    1. Actually I'm thinking I may have someone come get it for me and take it to the consignment store just around the corner. I'd forgotten all about it, and a reader emailed me about possibly putting it in a consignment store. And I remembered that one was there.

  9. So happy you have found a comfortable solution to your dilemma. And the ottoman will coordinate with your petty end tables. I too am a lover of red.

  11. Looks like a great choice for that spot. Finding the right furniture for small homes is a challenge nowadays because so many things are scaled for big homes with large rooms. The ottoman reminds me of two ottomans that my parents bought when I was a child. They were purchased with Green Stamps booklets. One was harvest gold and one was avocado green, the trendy colors of the day. But they did not have storage inside -- a real bonus with yours.

    1. Furniture these days remind me of the amounts of food you're given in a restaurant. Big is considered better.

  13. I adore that ottoman and love it in the red. Now, I like the size of your coffee table too but I agree with some of the other writers that you can measure and measure and sometimes it just isn't right! I completely understand. In 2007 I bought what I considered my 'dream' coffee table in rich dark wood color from furniture store at the same time I bought my bedroom suite, again getting pieces almost too big for my room because the scale didn't look so big IN THE STORE :). Anyways, I get my dream coffee table; oval with full shelf underneath. I wanted oval for no sharp edges and thought it would fit nicely in my living room in townhouse I am renting. Didn't look too big and I measured it and it was a little wider than my older cheapie table but the length was the same. OH NO .... it is HUGE in the space and I feel it is really too big for the room but I paid a pretty penny for it and my significant other loves it. Oh well! Anyways, can't wait to see the ottoman when you get it.

  14. Love the ottoman! Red is the best choice, don't be hasty about getting rid of your coffee table if you are anything like me you may want to use it again. You could always saw in half and make wall shelves. Lisa@ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air
