  1. I live in a small house and have to be creative with space and what to put where. I'll be doing some closet purging myself this weekend. You've done a great job with your closets. I enjoyed your book reviews and will be buying The Bones….sounds intriguing and suspenseful! Our weather in Houston is freezing today…literally! Next weekend in the 80's!
I enjoy your blog Brenda, have been folllowing you for several years. Simple conversations, lots of great ideas/projects and just good fellowship.

  2. Wow, super cold here in KY. Today I've been giving the kitchen a super clean. I'll start putting away Christmas decorations. I'll keep out some snowmen since we do have snow.

Why don't you use your kitchen cabinets? Are they too hard to reach? They can be hard to get to when you have to lean zcross the wider counter below, and it can be dangerous climbing a stool to get to them. Kitchen design can be pretty bad sometimes. It's good that you give yourself the freedom to find new storage solutions rather than sticking to what isn't really working for you just because it's how it's always been done.

    1. I've had a problem with mice since I moved in here. So I just decided to put my things in the dining space.

  3. The second closet looks great! I took a bunch of stuff to Habitat for Humanity yesterday and did not go in the thrift to look. I'm downsizing I keep telling myself. It's cold and we are in the path of the big winter storm so it's home today and I'll work some more on my piles of junk! It will be a long process for me but I'm ready for it.

  4. Good job on your second closet. What's helped me is–"pre-purging." I pick something up that I love in the store, but ask myself "where will I put this?" Usually where I put it is–back, and don't buy it.

    1. Great idea! I'm having to do the same thing, or stay out of stores. Last time I was in Target, I completely avoided that $1 spot!

    1. I'm probably resting up for awhile now. It takes a lot out of me, even though I bring in my little plastic garden seat to do the lower stuff. If I didn't have that old thing, I'd never paint either!

  5. Hi Brenda,
Always love your book reviews. No shorts here for us. WInd chills are -5 and temp only 11 today. I cannot wait to wear shorts again. Enjoy your nice days in Okla.
    xoxo

  6. So, I see you're getting Texas weather now! That is what is happening here, too.
The closets look great, Brenda. Only thing I would add is all white thick clothes hangers. That made a big difference in my closets. Walmart.

  7. I need you to come help me sort clothes. problem is I've been several sizes in the last few years. I've recently lost some weight, I would have hated to given them all away. eeeck. And I spy a cool trunk in that closet, looks great!

    1. Yeah, I had that out as a coffee table a few times, that trunk. But it's looking shabby. Guess it needs painting again. But it's about to fall apart, so I'd better leave it be.

  8. Looks great! What did you do with the paint cans and quilts?

I am focusing on designing a Valentines window display for a lady here in town. We are talking about a "travel France" theme. Her mother gave her a hugh old steamer trunk which we are going to use a the main focus and a table with a lace tablecloth with a teapot, cups, saucers, a vase of roses, a couple of red candles, a box of Valentine chocolates, a passport, and tickets to France. My foster daughter is going to draw a large picture of the Eiffel tower for a backdrop. We will light the window with red and white twinkle lights and put rose petals on the floor. I am so excitied. Finally, something to do and fun too.

    1. The paint cans are still in the closet. Most of the quilts are on the green vintage cart in my bedroom on the wall opposite my bed. Will have to take a pic.

  9. Well if you get bored and want to come to Alabama to help a sista out, just let me know. Boy, do I have alot of organization to do.. 🙂 you do a great job with the small space you have… I had rather have a small space, that way you don't have so much to keep up. 🙂 Angie

    1. Someone said I should get hangers that are thin and all one color. Might get around to that some day…

  10. Those books sound great, of course I'm drawn to the one that happens in upstate NY….hopefully not in my backyard, ha ha! Closet looks great, Brenda – I need to sort out my master closet, I have far too many things I never wear.

    1. I have things I haven't worn in some time. Which is why I keep purging. Somebody should be wearing them!
