Warm Weather & A Few Living Room Changes

Abi, why do you feel that you must be in every photograph? Yes, you're a pretty girl. Despite mom's giving you a new "do."

Nothing much changed on the other side of the room. Charlie still has his soft bed and his favorite afghan, both newly washed, right on the couch where he likes it.

I've been considering painting this plain frame around the horse. Still haven't decided, obviously.

I brought the ladder inside. It's been outside since last summer and it was already nice and weathered. Maybe I'll layer some linens on it. Or not.

That's what's going on around here. Having Law & Order SUV on in the background and staying home.

  1. some people use a ladder to hang quilts on - I would like to find one one day like what you have good and weathered.

  2. I like the frame, but I think a soft white would be less distracting. Go for it.

  3. I've always loved the look of quilts or linens displayed on a ladder. I think that would look really nice, Brenda. Have a good Sunday!

  7. So cozy..... the pups look happy and cozy too. Would love to see one of your quilts on the ladder.....it would probably have to be a lap quilt, right? What color would you paint the frame? It looks good with the other wood frames above it.

  11. Loved seeing these gorgeous pictures Brenda! You have put some wonderful things together in your own special way. The ladder looks nice and weathered. I hang quilts on a white ladder that I got a couple of years ago. Loved seeing that glimpse of the red and white quilt :)
    Happy new week.

I've seen people layer their quilts and linens, etc on ladders and it looks very nice ; that is a good idea!

  15. I love seeing pics of the pupsters and love that they feel the need to be in all the photos...LOL. Great little personalities they have! I like the natural frame on the horse, but one never knows how something is going to look until they give it a try. The ladder looks perfect! Love and hugs!!

  16. I like the arrangement of art around your chair and red table. As for painting the frame -- I love the knot in the wood to the side of the horse's head. It has wabi sabi to it. I personally would not paint it, but if you do, maybe you could use a light treatment that would leave the knot and other imperfections still visible. The light coming from the window onto the bookcase is so pleasant.

  17. Your home looks so wonderful, Brenda, you truly do an amazing job decorating!! We got about 2 feet of snow over the weekend, I don't think we're going to see the ground again until May!

  18. I like the picture frame as it is. And the pupsters know we always like seeing pictures of them. (I think you did a good job on their haircuts--and it was probably less stressful for them than the groomers.)

  19. I like the picture frame as is too. It looks rustic and is very appealing to the eye grouped with your other things there. It all looks great and so do the pupsters! :)

  20. I would say a weathered-look grey frame for the horse picture. If the frame is a bit darker than the painting, the eye is drawn to the image more quickly as opposed to the frame. You could paint the frame with milk paint or another matte paint and distress it to make it look vintage. I'll be interested to see what you do with it, but no pressure, of course! Maybe in the Summer, right?
