Saturday & VIsiting With Andrew

We took Andrew to the park. He will be three years old this next week. He is growing in leaps and bounds.

His parents were married 12 years before he was born.

They had already been to college and graduate school and had their careers well underway. He was well planned and very much welcomed into their settled lives.

My daughter went into the pharmacy for me while I sat outside in the car with him. He was tired and wanted to be held. So I got him out of his car seat and he climbed into my lap.

I listened as he chattered about his coming birthday party and who he was going to invite. He told me about the St. Paddy's Day party they had at his pre-school Friday.

We listened to his music while we waited.

I pulled his head down to my chest and welcomed the somewhat earthy smell of his sturdy little boy's body while I swayed him to the music.

I am so glad he has this life.

Where he has two responsible loving parents and a Boston Terrier named Gizmo. A beautiful home and nice yard to play in.

He nestled against me because I am his Grammy and he knows that I love him. I make sure to tell him so every time I see him.

  6. I am so glad you have him in your life, Brenda. I hope it helps to ease the heartache I know you feel over other family relationships. There is nothing like a little three year old boy all snuggled down to let you know that you, too, are loved by him. Happy Sunday- xo Diana

  13. You should fight for visits to your other grandchildren, your granddaughters, Brenda. You need to bond with them while they are young so that when they are grown, they will have good memories of you and your visits.

So glad you had this precious time with Andrew!!

  15. My daughter is 17. I miss the times I could hold, rock and sway with her in my arms. We cuddle on the couch and that is wonderful but holding that little one is always missed. Please show a pic of Gizmo: I have two bostons that are very spoiled.

  18. Oh, the sweet joy of loving a little boy! I have four grandsons aged six to two. The six-yr.-old twins and their mom live with me. I get very tired watching them while my daughter works, but when I read stories with both of them snuggling against me on either side, or when I give back rubs to help bring sleep, or when I smell their beautiful dark hair, the weariness flees for a moment or two as I just feel how precious they are and how much I love them. I had hoped for a granddaughter when the two-yr.-old was born, but I got another grandson and I wouldn't trade him with his crystal blue eyes and blonde, blonde hair for anything! Love those boys!!
