A Dough Bowl & A Coffee Box

It rained for days and days. I love the rain. But you can't do much outside when it's raining. So I headed for my favorite antique mall.

Can you see what I found? A coffee box for my K-cups. Cost? $16.

It has two drawers and is the perfect size for those K-cups I had hidden away in a drawer in the living room.

I also came home with a cute dough bowl. Dough bowls, like bread boards, are multi-faceted little gems.

Playing around with looks, I laid down an old shutter, then put some of my white pitchers inside the dough bowl.

The dough bowl alone is a work of art. Cost? $12. Isn't it pretty?

I also had an idea to maybe at some point hot glue some pretty flowered altered collage inside and then hang it on the wall.

When I see one this cheap, I'm going to be hard-pressed not to grab it!

Do you decorate with dough bowls? I'd love to hear what you do with yours.

  4. I like the coffee box and it's a great way to store coffee pods, but oh that dough bowl! I love it. I keep looking for one I can afford but have yet to find it. What a great price on that one! Lucky you! Hugs.

  5. You have such n artist's eye. I love your arrangements. I have the good fortune to own my great grandmother's dough bowl. It was in the house she bought in 1909. It's over 117 yrs. old. It is so beautiful & useful. Sandy

  6. I've never had a dough bowl, and never really thought much about acquiring one, but I do like them. I think I'll ask my husband if he can make one. He does small projects with hand tools, such as making walking canes. I really like your small wooden box for the K-cups.

  7. I have a wonderful, very old dough bowl that two of our daughters got for our wedding anniversary one year. I have it in the dining room with decorative, wooden balls in it. Just love it! What a treasure you found in both the coffee box and the dough bowl. Love those leisure days when I can get out and "shop" with nothing in mind that I have to do.

  8. Those dough bowls are coming up by the truck-fulls from Mexico and available in a variety of colors. Wondering if the paint should be tested. Is it called a "new-tique" when Mexico or China floods the market with something new that looks old?

  13. Like Saundra, I am fortunate to have my grandmother's dough bowl and remember her using it. She was the last person to use if for the intended purpose. I use it decoratively and it is currently filled with red and aqua wooden balls. Your cups on the red shelf are beautiful.

  15. Oh my gosh I love that coffee box, that's just too cute!! I have a dough bowl that I use in various ways around the house, depending on the season. Sometimes it is on my bookcase in the living room with a plant in it, sometimes it is in the kitchen, holding fall produce on the counter.
