April Showers & Charlie The Watch Dog

It has rained a lot here. I guess that goes along with "April showers bring May flowers."

Abi seems to be feeling a bit better. She had a pain pill twice a day the first three days, and now is taking one a day.

But my Charlie boy seems to be doing fine. I love how he lays on his tummy with his legs spread out behind him.

He is watching out the front door for anything menacing, like a cat or squirrel. And if one appears, he is fully ready to go into a full throttle rage barking fit.

I moved Ms. Red Lips. Here she gets more light and you can see her features much better.

Speaking of light, I wanted you all to see this rather odd sight. In the morning when I have the storm door open, the sun shines on the drawer pulls and lights them up.

Kind of cool, huh?

I find that I am enjoying the white, yellow and purple shades of flowers on my patio. I didn't choose just those colors on purpose, it just kind of happened.

Normally I just pick a variety of colors.

But I think I may stick to this palette for now. It gives a sense of continuity to a small space that I find rather inviting.

  1. Those knobs look magical. Although I read a post on Apartment Therapy about a house that caught fire when sun hit a glass doorknob and acted like a magnifying glass does (did you ever start a fire with a magnifying glass? one of those kid science things). Anyway, block the sun if you go out!

  2. So happy that Abi is feeling better. So neat that the sun lights up your crystal knobs on your cabinet. Just another little perk from mother nature. Your flowers are always so beautiful. Thanks for continuing to share your ideas/pictures with us each day. I always look forward to your posts.

  3. The combination of yellow and purple has always reminded me of Easter. Since they're complimentary colors they look well together, especially in a garden.

Charlie is adorable. I would imagine your pups provide lots of hours of amusement. :)

The shiny knobs look gorgeous in that light!

  7. Illuminated drawer pulls are indeed cool. Mrs. Red Lips would be great for holding spoons also. I am happy Abi is better.

  8. I love the magic your drawer pulls give you! Two of my wind chimes on my carport catch the afternoon sun and send little rainbows flashing all over the wall of the house, I could watch that sight until it finished! Also, your flowers are lovely! Enjoy the rain, if it's like East Texas it soon will come to an end and be dry as a bone!

  11. I am glad Abi is feeling better. It is so hard when our pets are not at their best.
I absolutely LOVE the way the light hits those glass knobs. How cool is that?!?! Like fairy light to me.

  12. The drawer knobs look so cool---what do you bet someone comes up with LED-lit knobs soon. I'm glad to hear Abi is doing better and I'm glad you have a great defender in Charlie. Our little dog has succeeded in scaring away all the lions, and tigers and bears in our area.

  14. What a cutie. My older toy poodle is watch dog. Barks if he hears something, and if he doesn't recognize someone in a hat. Ha... It is nice palette for the patio. I have found that palette became dependent upon what would make it in the yard. I love your vase. My daughter has a winking one. xoxo Su

  15. The knobs are so cute. Made me laugh and what a pleasant surprise for you in the morning. You are so lucky to have such a beautiful patio, it's only beautiful thanks to you. I imagine they're pretty nondescript otherwise.

  21. So happy to hear that little Abi is doing better. And it sounds like Charlie is a great watch dog! I used to have a Chow Chow who would lie on his tummy with his feet stretched out behind him. I always tho't it was so cute. He was a stray that we took in who, I think, had been abused, but we got along great, except that he ran away every chance he got and terrorized the neighborhood. He always came back a mess from running in the drainage ditch behind our neighborhood. And he never bothered or bit anyone while loose, but Chows have a reputation for being ferocious and the neighbors just kind of freaked out when they saw him loose. I loved that guy so much, it just killed me to have to euthanize him when his kidney failure became advanced. Ahh, how attached we get to those four-leggeds!

Your flower images are so beautiful. I am anxious to get some flowers planted in my yard.

Those lighted knobs are awesome! I really tho't they were electrically equipped! What a fun sight to see when you wake up! I have a glass prism in my kitchen window and when the sun comes in at the right time of day it sends rainbows all over the room. It's just magical even though it happens every day that there is sunshine! Of course, in mid-Michigan that's sometimes rare with our crazy weather, so it is exciting!

    Enjoyable and fun post, Brenda.
